DLC kills the base game. It's elitist nonsense. Everything in these DLCs should be updates at the most. Complete nonsense. The game is an excel spreadsheet.
@@acrobaticswitches I get the frustration. The only sad issue is that devs do need to get paid somehow or they will just drop the game and make a sequel, and maybe they should do that. I used to think so, but over the years i realized that there needs to be middle ground where the devs get paid and can eat, but we also get great content in return. However i do believe that the prices and other things with the dlc could be better, and the dlc they have released lately has not been good overall. And of course they do that right after i release this video which was made i believe right after machine age or astral planes. The issue today with making sequels is that if they are a stinker the community is ruined. Of course this points to issues with the company itself. However there are some games that are better if they are simply updated over time instead of thrown out in favor of a complete new game. I would love it if devs updated the game out of the kindness of thier hearts and passion for the game. The reality is today that practice is extremely rare. So i guess for me i decided that if there is going to be monetization it better be done right. So i feel dlc expansions are acceptable if that means i don't get the cash shop and microtransactions.
Hey guys this was a little outside my comfort zone but I wanted to try a new format and this is something that has been on my mind for awhile. There may be inaccuracies, but i believe the principles and overall message is clear. Let me know if you guys liked the new format and your opinion thanks!
@@Kaador Actually i don't believe you get districts from ascension, just empire size and bonus percentage. Wait are you saying just ascension perks? the only thing that comes to mind on tht is mastery of nature.
althroug paradox are not exempt from criticism regarding their pricing and some DLC that were practically devoid of content they have delivered quality content and have a good record of following players feedback. My trust cap with them is high and I'm willing to follow this semi subscitpion DLC model where the games I play continue to be developed as long as sales justifies the production.
excellent Commentary about the DLC issue of Stellaris ., hope you make more commentary about the stellaris game issues and topic (it adds also more content videos on your channel) 😁👍
Awesome! Yeah thanks, the comments and views do encourage me to make some more stellaris commentary and opinion content. I feel the structure is money as well and will keep doing that. So like i think even my guides will be done similar to this from now on.
I am an old gamer who grabs 2 or 3 hours a week so time spent gaming is quality over quantity. Being a perfectionist, I like to view different guides and how-tos, so I found your Stellaris Complete Beginner Tutorial. I liked this DLC video and the style of content. Sure, it didn't teach me about the content of the DLCs but rather put them into context in terms of value. These short videos can be fun to watch, just to hear commentary and a perspective. Hopefully your channel will grow. This kind of content has the feel of a large, seasoned channel.
Overall I am very happy with Paradox, they do a very good job most of the time. Thousands of hours in Stellaris and City Skylines and I can say that most of the DLCs have helped the game to evolve and giving me even more hours to play :)
@@Downtimelegion that's how i feel about it. Is paradox perfect? No. But overall they are atleast making an effort. And same about how much value I've got from the base game and the content i did purchase.
I love RP. Moar popups. Otherwise it is a souless game, where typical paradox you strive to get +1% to some stat, instead of feeling like steering an interstellar empire.
Yeah i get it, like i said we all enjoy stellaris differently. I hate the pop ups but alot of my friends and the community love them and i respect that. So it is really about what is valuable to you. All in good fun. I hope someday the devs give us more control over what popups we see. I also do like the voice over of cetana. even though i did not have a really good experience in the end with that event. I think i would actually get more into the rp aspect of stellaris if it were voiced, though i know that is hard to do.
about the pricing, some people in different region got regional pricing, but sometimes it only works to cover the cut or taxes or something similiar. So to me the prices are usually quite expensive
Well, for some of us its more than just dots on a screen as my fps buddies like to say. Also like i said the total playtime received should be factored in. However i do acknowledge that there is dlc that is way to old to be priced what it is and they should gradually add old dlc to the base game to fix their reputation and bring in new players.
It really depends on when you get in on it and how many hours you plan to put in. I got stellaris pretty early on. Picked up most dlc on release and some of the minor ones on sales. Definitely pricey of you buy the whole thing flat out even on sale.
@volairen it really sucks for people wanting to get into the game now. Europa 4 and ck2 I snagged a humble bundle 20 bucks for all the dlc, which at that time was end of life for ck2 and I'm missing the newest 2 for europa I think. The monthly subscription is a joke. 4 bucks a month you could buy a new dlc every 3 months with that.
@@hersh1138 Yeah cant say im a fan of the subscription system. Though it does allow people to see what dlc they like to use and then cancel the sub and just buy what they want. I again really think they need to cheap bundle all the old stellaris dlc. If they priced it at say 20 bucks for like all the stuff older than overlord i think paradox would make alot of sales.
Imo Stellaris is the best space 4x game of all time, so I'm happy if they just keep expanding on it and adding new stuff. But like with all Paradox games, the number of dlcs makes the game really hard to get into for new players 😅
@@Dank_Engine yeah. To be honest im not sure what's going on with the recent dlcs. I kinda think paradox should be spending thier development time on something else.

I respect that viewpoint. It's not mine, but there was a time where i thought any kind of monetization other than large expansions, were unacceptable. I guess sadly in this day and age i have decided that it's more realistic to say "ok monetization is not going away, but that doent mean there is not more acceptable ways of doing it". I would like to point out that pdx could be doing the same garbage that blizzard/activision is doing. Or Electronics arts. Yet they are choosing not to. I do agree like i said that the price could be lower in fact i think if they did reduce the price they would make more money and get better reviews than pdx does now. Thanks for commenting.

I played stellaris for the first time using gamepass for pc and now that it is on offer on steam I felt like buying it, but considering that I never finished a single game because I got stuck in the process, is it worth buying it alone and consider buying the dlc later or should I buy at least utopia (I see that they say it is almost indispensable).
Well if i understand you correctly, i think that if you have a ton of hours played. Even if you have not finished a single game, you are still having fun, so I wouldn't have a problem. In fact maybe the dlc will have something that you want or can finish the game with. Stellaris games are really long sometimes and some games can get sadly pretty boring. So i wouldn't feel bad about not finishing a single game. For every game i got the victory screen pop up, i have 10 runs i never finished for whatever reason so yeah thats normal bro. in all seriousness, i come from civilization call to power and the original galactic civ games that came out before stellaris when there was no RP and i loved it. Many 4x games were like this back in the day. Also i have adhd so a lot of events just get in the way of me crushing my enemies, and are too long didn't read for me. I have always just been a Action>Story. Also with few exceptions i was just never able to get into it like some of my friends did. I think i got into those games because i knew going in that it is rp focused and does a good job. That however is not really why i play stellaris. I play it for the strategy and galactic conquest aspect Mainly. Rp in stellaris is like salt on a steak to me. Too much and it tastes bad.
Honestly, I prefer this approach of ongoing DLC keeping the game going rather than a sequel after sequel.
