    This fills my heart with so much joy. The original meaning of Jamaica is jama ya ka (which in the Akan language means ‘maybe we are stuck’). Jamaica and Ghana have a lot in common. They even look Ghanaian. Their festivals and food are similar to Ghana’s. I pray the scales on the eyes of the Caribbean people will fall off and they begin to embrace their ancestry. God bless Africa🙏🏾

      @@dvineslim This is the most beautiful day for me today as we are on social media in a civilized conversation about our existence I love it. Well every one of the Caribbean islands were founded by the carib and they name everyone of them Jamaica retain their name as well as caricou which is one of the islands belonging to Grenada. We still have a long way to go or to reach the truth of who we are but we know where we came from and that is a good start.

      You have to realize that black americans and any black person that migrate to america is constantly being conditioned and programmed. Blacks who migrate to America, e.g Jamaicans, trinidadians, Ghanaians, Nigerians are able to break away from the programming because they are connected to their home countries. Their thinking is very different from a black american. So i encourage black americans to adopt a african country or black country to get themselves unprogrammed.

    Maya you made this video just for me. I love everything about this couple. Here is the deal: The British long ago established a Museum of some sort, to highlight their involvement in slavery; and their records state that almost all the slaves they brought to Jamaica, came from Ghana, (I learned this from TH-cam actually). That is why, just as expressed by Naomi, I see striking similarities between both of our people. I know without doubt, that none of us could determine each others nationality, without hearing the accent.
    I am 67 now, and though I love Africa dearly, and particularly Ghana, there is no sense in relocating at this stage in my life. However, African Americans NEED to relocate. After emancipation we Jamaicans, and other Caribbean people who were enslaved by the British, were empowered to start laying foundations however insignificant, toward independence. Emancipation in the US, was a charade. African Americans have never known true freedom, have never been allowed to breathe, and it continues until today. What has, and continues to be, in America, is a travesty, and an abomination.
    I will come back to this another day. Is it enough to declare a year of return? My view is, the majority who would gladly return, are poor and haven't the resources to sustain themselves until established. I encourage Ghana to examine that.
    In the meantime, peace and love to my family. Love blackness. Love Africa, regardless.

      The overall fact is we dont trust........our ancestors were bamboozled, and dragged, sold for inferior goods, raped you name it. After all that they went through, they left a foundation on which we are so proudly building, and we prefer to focus on doing just that........we dont want to be moving from place to place, like ideots. if you look at a well known Jamaican like Usain Bolt, he looks like a person from Senegal, you can tell his ancestors are from Senegal or Sierra Leone even.

    • @kwabenaasante1908
      @kwabenaasante1908 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Malcalm Baxter most likely his ancestry is still not primarily from Senegal as many Senegalese or even Sierra Leone tribes wasn’t taken to Jamaica compared to others. Realistically speaking, bolt can indeed have Senegalese ancestry partially (let’s say more or less %8-10%) however his ancestry is still gonna be from where most tribes were taken to Jamaica which historically hailed from Ghana/Gold Coast and Nigeria/Cameroon/Biafra. However, despite the high possibility of most Jamaicans having Ghanian ancestry today, none is purely or solely from Ghana as Jamaicans are a mixture of many of the aforementioned tribes/regions in their respective combinations. It’s just common for Jamaicans to assume they are from Ghana because that’s where most of their visible culture and history derives. Lastly, I think it would also be subjective to say Usain Bolt looks Senegalese, I live in nyc and seen on many occasions Ghanians that could easily pass for Bolt, in both mannerism and looks. Not to mention I’ve seen many Ghanians who look just like Senegalese and vice versa. Senegalese are just typically taller than Ghanians.

    They are right. Even the word JAMAICA was coined from the Akan language (GYAMA YA KA ?) which means maybe we are stack here. When the whites were transporting our ancestors to the western world, when they got to the island, their ship got wrecked so they have to get down onto that island and they started making that comment (GYAMA YA KA?) and it became the name of that country . A brief history for you😊

      Those who call themselves hebrew if they did they research, they'll realise that Judaism was introduce to africa, israel, which at the time was Egyptian territory by the Greeks who created the religion to stop them from practicing their original faith, which their pray to Ra, the SUN GOD, consider as the king of all GODS. Because the blacks living in Israeli territory refuse to pray to jesus the christ who was a Greek man who wanted to be seen, worship as a God. Ironically today, most black do worship him😏.
