I love these series. As an 1200 player its very nice to hear your thought process during the games. It helps me to understand the different ideas en possible tactics in the position. Keep it going.
The real takeaway from this is to think of how good you’ve gotten at chess after tons of hard work. …and then realize 10 year old Eric wouldve annihilated you 😂
The problem was even 10 moves deep the computer says your winning and it’s still not clear to me, not even worth calculating because who knows if you’ll even get that position anyways
@@niklaswirges9085 Exactly. Rh4 threatens check-mate in next move and there is nothing you can do to defend that. Eric should have finished the analysis so we can see how white is winning.
at 15:47 instead of trading with Bxe3 there's Nxf2! If white takes the knight in any of the three possible ways, white will lose the queen or get checkmated.
I seem to be thinking a bit more like Eric, having followed this throughout. I am around 1300 rapid rating, so not in Eric's league, but especially in game 3, I found myself coming up with a lot of the same moves Eric played or at least considered in complex positions. Where he decided to play Bf5, I had picked Be6, which Eric had considered and the engine preferred, so I am even more proud of that.
40:00 why is it always like this rhat when someone disconnects in a complex position they just immediately play their move when they get back? Often the best move too
9:32 wasn‘t there Nxf2 to win a pawn, or am i missing something? Because Bxf2 and Qxf2 hangs the queen, Kxf2 hangs the bishop and I didn‘t see any intermediate moves.
Love this series! Ever since I started watching my rating has dropped 150 elo because I'm playing too slow! Maybe one day I'll be able to play slow and still win.
I was suffering Eric speed run withdrawal symptoms, episode 50 just in time for my addiction fix. First game is a great positional crush against a high rating, where most pieces are still on the board at the end
After Rh4, Nf8 saves the day and black is one move quicker to mate with queen and rook than white so white has to defend and eventually get a loosing position
Hey, I paused @ 21:58. I'm seeing knight takes pawn, h4, d4, bxg7, dxc3, qh6, be6, bxf8, pxb2. And either kb1, qxa7, or kxb2, rb8, and either qa6, or qxa2.
I wish you still played Excellerated Dragon after 3...Bc4. There's still 4. g6 isn't there? If opponent tries 4...Ng4 you still have 5. e6 attack the Knight and preventing the Bishop move forcing d3 or Knight back to f3 maybe so you have a little initiative?
@@ieaatclams people dont like to hear it but it really is that simple. Play longer games and examine moves for longer than you want to. It’s not fun and there’s no shortcut to it but you will get (slightly) better at it over time.

how does this guy have so much time in a 10 min game with no increment ? Either I run out of time in the endgame or blunder badly in this kind of rapid game :(
They're not. Or at least, not anywhere near as often. Watching a game where a professional player is constantly explaining his thought process is not the same as playing.
Last game. "Its not easy". Bishop and queen vs two rooks and rook next move is gone by pin with bishop, so rook vs queen. But still not easy xDDDD. Maybe vs Cagnus Marlsen. It is about 800 ELO point gap but you still keep tension. C`mon. You are better than this.
He explained why it wasn't easy, and showed that the evaluation bar is not equivalent to a queen vs rock+pawn. The opponent's king is safe and the rock defends the two weak pawns very well.
Eric calculates a deep line for 5 minutes. Opponent doesn't go into it and immediately blunders instead
After all, isn't that what chess is all about? Lol
weird, when i calculate a deep line it's me who immediately blunders instead XD
I deep calculate many moves ahead for 5 minutes and then my opponent plays the best move...... that I didn't even see.
That's been the theme of this series lol. Giving oppo too much credit.
The main difference in ranking between 1000-2000 is the number of mistakes made.
this is becoming as enjoyable as it was to wait for new episodes in a hot tv series to come out back in the day
This also speak volumes about current tv shows.

Huge fan of this series. Thanks for keeping the education interesting, Eric!
thank you giving your thinking process. it's very cool. i did learn a lot.

Hi Eric!
You are very humble and a good person, keep it up
EXCELLENT TO SEE SOME BACK TO BACK SICILIAN PLAY AT THIS LEVEL IN THE SPEED RUN. WELL DONE ERICK, THANK YOU, .. MIKE.
This video comes in clutch right after I was brushing up my Accelerated Dragon!
Eric: "this could be a long term weakness"
Light Square Bishop: Say no more 🫡
always such a delight to see a new episode! :D :D
