Some people say the Boxster is a poor man's Porsche, but the new S model puts that idea to rest -- it's as quick around Germany's infamous Nurburgring circuit as the legendary 996 GT3.
It's not hard to see why. The Boxster S has one of the finest chassis of any car, incredible brakes and a cracking 311bhp 3.4-litre flat six-cylinder engine -- largely the same as the one found in the latest 911.
man this new boxter just looks so good! like a mini carrera GT!
Why would you save 1000 quid and have a 6 speed manual gearbox (and clutch you have to keep stepping on) when you are already spending 45 thousand pounds on a car with a state of the art fully automatic or manual paddle shift double clutch 7 speed gearbox...whats with folk that think they are being cheated if they dont have to constantly operate a clutch and battle with a gear shift to drive their car???
learn to spell first and then you may one be able to afford one..
The Boxster is one of the more affordable models. Still between $50 to 70k

I am considering buying this vehicle. What is your opinion about the Lime Gold exterior color?
I love the lime gold. May look kind of funky years from now. But that may be a good thing in porsche saturated markets like the one I live in.
+Max Tran It is a cool colour, but I think you have to be slightly extrovert to drive around in it, like with a yellow car, maybe. I still think the other special paint job in carmine red is just the best, deeply glowing paint Porsche came up with in a long time, but if you wanna see more of the lime colour, Porsche have a 30min video filmed Boxster owner's manual that features the colour all the way (on TH-cam); you can have the same footage as individual clips or the entire movie by installing the "Good to know" Porsche app for Android/Apple. There is a poll on the German Porsche forums, according to which only 1% of the owners chose lime.

Mat is engaging enough, but I would rather these reviews of the sports cars be done by Steve Sutcliffe of Simon; more experience, more polish. Mat just comes across as a kid driving his dad's car. Not cool.
Personally would pick cayman over boxster anyday.

Autoexpress guys: Please can you tell me: 1) Is the new Boxster okay on non-PASM suspension and 20" alloy wheels... I found on my 997 that I virtually never bothered to use the "sport" setting on PASM. 2) Is ordering PDK without the Sport package okay. I don't care about launch control (boy racers etc), but I do care about the gearbox hanging onto whatever gear I select until put into full auto mode. I think reviews in general should test cars in different specifications. Thanks.

It's a shame Porsche abandoned affordable sports car pricing on the Boxster and Cayman cars. Why claim something and then change the philosophy in the end? They have the 911 and panamera to keep high priced. What they should have done was kept the Boxster and Cayman priced low. mid $40's to $70k and brought back the Porsche 928 But they didn't do that. Now I'm just hoping they bring the 924 and 944 back as affordable porsche's. And the 928 as in between the cayman and 911 entry pricing. : )
Believe me, the Boxter S with 310 HP and PDK has a equal acceleration like the AMG up to 180 km/h. The new SLK 350 is slower than a standart Boxter 2,9 with 255 HP. I drove them both and i was so disappointed from the SLK.
Cars are also more expensive in the UK. A good bit more than the US. I have seen base PDK boxsters for about 60k and optioned S models in the low 80s. Still expensive but if you get one without a bunch of options its more reasonable.
The review is correct: 6 speed manual on the Boxster. You may be getting confused with the 7 speed manual now fitted on the 991.
I'm thinking of a Boxter S or a SLK 55 AMG when I'm big but the SLK is more exspensive so i think ill go with the Porsche
They are still affordable, just no in the UK. My advice by one in Germany and ship it to the UK or drive it
Just buy a used one, I did that too, it is not too expensive, worth every cent.

i got a project to do, which will earn me about a billion(indian curreny), but unfortunately it was cancelled, that time i was dreaming about this Boxster, i even put a desktop wallpaper, since that project got cancelled and gone i cannot buy this Porsche , the wallpaper made me sad.. poor me..now im broke as old me... watching this really make me sad.. this is a great porsche though.. respect to the owners
