This should be studied in college and university’s, it’s a pure masterpiece, Ren is incredible how one guy with a guitar can keep you totally engaged for 13 and a half minutes in todays TikTok society that unheard of. Jenny's tale is based on a newspaper article he had read. Screechs tale and Violet came out about a month apart. I remember waiting for each one. Jenny was a girl of the night that is why she was dressed the way she was and walking at that time. Patrick was not home down in # 54 because he was with Screech's girl. Violet and Jenny were a lot alike both quiet and Screech was a lot like Stevie his father abusive, Ren brought it full circle. I love how Ren uses the natural acoustics in his video's. Love your reaction at the end. It is what all of us have had. Ren has a new one dropping on the 17th. I Like Music #4. So, make sure you listen and watch 1,2 and 3 before.

I just wanted to let you know I’ve been following Ren through reactors after stumbling across “Hi Ren”. It is amazing to see what people pick up when watching the first time. His songs have moved me like no other piece of music!! His work truly is art!
It’s completely full circle ⭕️ moment. Jenny was Frozen & didn’t speak like her mom. Screech was like his dad, a violent prick. So Jenny & screech’s mom is murdered by the dad. So they get split up. It’s so damn crazy lol. It’s all just a complete circle.
He does do one takes - he picks the best of a couple, a few, or several they’ve filmed. The one take means it is one run all the way through - i.e., if they’re almost done & make a mistake it gets scrapped - start all over again. He works mostly with 2 videographers - Samuel Falvey Perry & Luke (sorry can’t think of his last name) not at the same time on the same video, but different videos. They are all so talented! Check out interviews he’s done in the last 6 months with Justin Hawkins rides again, (they are reactors) Knox Hill, Black Pegasus & Rosalie reacts. I can't. LOL. I played his song for my wife and I got to watch her expression on her face as I feel I was. She said "no, no, she's your twin sister". She almost cried when it came full circle. Powerful song. I can't stand how independent artists don't get recognition they deserve.

I think some reactors take a while to get it because they pause so much to comment & often their timing is off. This reaction was great, listening & pausing only at the end of each story, he was really invested in it.
He's self taught in just about everything. He had 8yrs practically isolated in his bedroom so had a lot of time to learn. He did briefly go to Bath Music Conservatory but was too ill to finish the course.

A fun one is Losing it, or Ren showing off his flow talent is The Hunger. So far he hasn't made a bad track. He's a performer musician poet and story teller, so at least some good came out of his many years of misdiagnosis which is what he refers to in his short video "Defining Success" which gives you a great insight into just how nice of a person Ren is...makes me so proud to be British hahahaha@@loud_wolves

First I apologize to the person top of the comments I didn't reply to you. Comment section blew up and I was in the hospital with my wife. Nothing life threatening but annoyed with the hospital. The timeline of the story is very interesting as well. He originally posted something about Jenny's Tale on Facebook in 2014. I'm still looking for it though. Then he posted this version on TH-cam in 2019. He followed up with Screech's Tale in 2020. And finally Violet's Tale came out last year in 2022. The reference about 2-0-0-5 is in fact the year, and it was 14 years before 2019. When the twins were born.

Ren is a modern day bard who would have silenced courts and town squares in medieval times the way he can catch the attention of any listener. He paints such vivid imagery with his storytelling that it can get physically uncomfortable at times yet you cannot stop watching as he tells horrific tales of things that are far too real for far too many people in this world. Ren is a genius. One the world needs.

Ren is unf*ckingbelievablygood.... Bardcore, a poetic and musical genius, oh and he can spit those bars when he needs to... I'm 50 and from the UK, I've not been this excited about music since the early 90's.... it's almost beyond music... there is nobody I've heard that can touch this man.... Even his old band are epic, everyone he collabs with, everything he does.... He is an absolute genius and he is OURS.
Yes, incredible story telling. This is performance art. I still get emotional after some songs, even though I've heard them hundreds of times years. Every listen is a therapy session. After I'm done crying, and I need a smile, I'll turn to: ANY busking vid (not the tales though), It's Alright, Love Music Part 1, Part 2 & Part 3, Losing It- our ANY retake, Bongo Bong, English Man in New York, Dignity or Swan Song to name a few. Since many of his independent songs will make you cry/emotional; it's good to have a long list of songs to make you smile/chill/rock out to depending on what you need. Great reaction. 💛
I remember a reactor one time saying he felt like he'd just witnessed a crime and needed to call 911! Describes it so accurately because Ren makes it feel so vivid like you're there!
Fun fact. In a stream with Ren and The videographer Sam, they were talking about Violets tale and how they got the bed for the video and discovered it was a child sized bed but it was too late to do anything about it so they had to put stuff underneath it to make it look normal, and Ren was super nervous that it would fall over 😂

People often get that he rewound time with his guitar for violet’s Tale but miss that he also fast forwarded time toward the end. Using the staircase and halls and empty warehouses for sound is genius because all of these are low budget.
Ren's album was just released, and it's straight in at #2 of the UK album chart. I'm so damn happy for him. Not just the chart thing, but the way it's happened. We're all a part of it, one way or another.

Yes, Ren's skill takes us right into the frame, where we stand - fully present - not as Audience, but as Witnesses! { As one viewer put it; " I kept wanting to press Pause and go run Dial 911 !"} Ren wants us to CARE. Not just murmur; " Oh what a shame..." and then click to the next 20 second News Bite. In this piece he leaves a large question hanging; "If we KNOW the pathways that lead innocents like Jenny, and Screech and Violet toward becoming Victims and / or Perpetrators - and we DO! - then why aren't we doing more to stop these tragedies!?!

Well 1:59 is incorrect, he does multiple takes, but they are all singles if it makes sense. So for Money game I believe it was like a 100 takes before they arrived at the 'perfect' one.. Hi Ren was like 4 takes or something like that

@@loud_wolvesyeah Jenny’s Tale (and to some extent Screech’s Tale) was inspired by a small news article that I think ended with citing an officer saying it was such a shame. I believe it just struck something in Ren how little coverage a sad story like that got and how easily we ignore or move on from them. So many horrible things happening every day in this world that don’t make front page or happen behind closed doors. Violet’s Tale is fictional but so relatable for far too many people 😢
Though Dumb King Come was a one-and-done, most of the others took multiple takes, and they kept the best one. Hi Ren took 3; Money Game Pt. 1 took well over a hundred. I don't have an official count on these. Love your reaction; you feel all of this, so we can feel it with you. These tales are brutal, yet beautiful. Generational violence, with a twist ending. I'd suggest Chalk Outlines, done with Chinchilla (another British singer worth checking out on her own).
I think he said Money Game part 1 was like 87 takes? Or something in that area. The dedication to get every little detail just right is something else.
Yep, it's easy to exchange the definition of "one take" (only perform the thing once in front of the camera, no going back to the beginning and starting over) and the definition of "one shot" ( a continuous shot from the beginning of the performance to the end, with no cuts). The cameraman must follow the action in front of the lens, while adjusting how the action is framed, moving to control how much light appears in frame or how lighting falls on the performer, and much more for the end result to be understandable, beautiful and cinematic. Ren has many amazing one-shot videos, but most of them took many takes/attempts to get the final one-shot that works. We don't know how many takes, exactly, with the Tales, but in the Black Pegasus interview, Ren and Samuel discussed working on Violet's Tale all night long because that's when they had access to the building; take after take until Ren was deeply exhausted.

In the first part, it is very clear that Jenny is dead. That’s why at the end of the first part, he says, “it looks like she escaped.“ And he also says, “she finally found a place to sleep.“ Both those lines, make it very clear that she was killed.
Ren tells the stories and the filming of the stories are all done so well i found myself looking for the bodies laying on the ground. The saddest thing about this is the fact each of these things are happening in every country at this very moment and the cycle continues

His videos are "one take" in the sense that there are no cuts. Just turn the camera on and let it run for the whole video. But it takes days of planning and often many failed attempts to pull off the perfect one take. "Animal Flow" took 9 hours to get the one perfect run through the whole thing without screwing up, for example.

Luke Flegg is Ren's second videographer! Samuel's been with him longer but I think they are equally talented.

The timeline of the story is very interesting as well. He originally posted something about Jenny's Tale on Facebook in 2014. I'm still looking for it though. Then he posted this version on TH-cam in 2019. He followed up with Screech's Tale in 2020. And finally Violet's Tale came out last year in 2022. The reference about 2-0-0-5 is in fact the year, and it was 14 years before 2019. When the twins were born.

Ren is a modern day bard who would have silenced courts and town squares in medieval times the way he can catch the attention of any listener. He paints such vivid imagery with his storytelling that it can get physically uncomfortable at times yet you cannot stop watching as he tells horrific tales of things that are far too real for far too many people in this world. Ren is a genius. One the world needs.

Ren is unf*ckingbelievablygood.... Bardcore, a poetic and musical genius, oh and he can spit those bars when he needs to... I'm 50 and from the UK, I've not been this excited about music since the early 90's.... it's almost beyond music... there is nobody I've heard that can touch this man.... Even his old band are epic, everyone he collabs with, everything he does.... He is an absolute genius and he is OURS.

years. Every listen is a therapy session. After I'm done crying, and I need a smile, I'll turn to: ANY busking vid (not the tales though), It's Alright, Love Music Part 1, Part 2 & Part 3, Losing It- our ANY retake, Bongo Bong, English Man in New York, Dignity or Swan Song to name a few. Since many of his independent songs will make you cry/emotional; it's good to have a long list of songs to make you smile/chill/rock out to depending on what you need.

Fun fact. In a stream with Ren and The videographer Sam, they were talking about Violets tale and how they got the bed for the video and discovered it was a child sized bed but it was too late to do anything about it so they had to put stuff underneath it to make it look normal, and Ren was super nervous that it would fall over 😂

People often get that he rewound time with his guitar for violet’s Tale but miss that he also fast forwarded time toward the end. Using the staircase and halls and empty warehouses for sound is genius because all of these are low budget.
Ren's album was just released, and it's straight in at #2 of the UK album chart. I'm so damn happy for him. Not just the chart thing, but the way it's happened. We're all a part of it, one way or another.

In this piece he leaves a large question hanging; "If we KNOW the pathways that lead innocents like Jenny, and Screech and Violet toward becoming Victims and / or Perpetrators - and we DO! - then why aren't we doing more to stop these tragedies!?!

Well 1:59 is incorrect, he does multiple takes, but they are all singles if it makes sense. So for Money game I believe it was like a 100 takes before they arrived at the 'perfect' one.. Hi Ren was like 4 takes or something like that
Everyone in the comments was saying that hi Ren was all one take. Obviously in this one it's 3 different videos. I was told that hi Ren was just different camera angles. I was just going off of what everyone said.

@@loud_wolvesyeah Jenny’s Tale (and to some extent Screech’s Tale) was inspired by a small news article that I think ended with citing an officer saying it was such a shame. I believe it just struck something in Ren how little coverage a sad story like that got and how easily we ignore or move on from them. So many horrible things happening every day in this world that don’t make front page or happen behind closed doors. Violet’s Tale is fictional but so relatable for far too many people 😢
Though Dumb King Come was a one-and-done, most of the others took multiple takes, and they kept the best one. Hi Ren took 3; Money Game Pt. 1 took well over a hundred. I don't have an official count on these.
Love your reaction; you feel all of this, so we can feel it with you. These tales are brutal, yet beautiful. Generational violence, with a twist ending. I'd suggest Chalk Outlines, done with Chinchilla (another British singer worth checking out on her own).
I think he said Money Game part 1 was like 87 takes? Or something in that area. The dedication to get every little detail just right is something else.
Yep, it's easy to exchange the definition of "one take" (only perform the thing once in front of the camera, no going back to the beginning and starting over) and the definition of "one shot" ( a continuous shot from the beginning of the performance to the end, with no cuts). The cameraman must follow the action in front of the lens, while adjusting how the action is framed, moving to control how much light appears in frame or how lighting falls on the performer, and much more for the end result to be understandable, beautiful and cinematic. Ren has many amazing one-shot videos, but most of them took many takes/attempts to get the final one-shot that works.
We don't know how many takes, exactly, with the Tales, but in the Black Pegasus interview, Ren and Samuel discussed working on Violet's Tale all night long because that's when they had access to the building; take after take until Ren was deeply exhausted.
How to be me and chalk outlines are pure power and artistic accomplishments like all of there work. The live versions are pure genius!!

In the first part, it is very clear that Jenny is dead. That’s why at the end of the first part, he says, “it looks like she escaped.“ And he also says, “she finally found a place to sleep.“ Both those lines, make it very clear that she was killed.

His videos are "one take" in the sense that there are no cuts. Just turn the camera on and let it run for the whole video. But it takes days of planning and often many failed attempts to pull off the perfect one take. "Animal Flow" took 9 hours to get the one perfect run through the whole thing without screwing up, for example.
