I like bacon, a sausage patty or Canadian Bacon, with egg and cheddar cheese. I use a large egg, and slices of block cheddar cheese on my sandwich maker. I have had mine for a while and have never had a problem with it.
I used to work with disabled adults who lived independently. One guy loved breakfast sandwiches, but was advised not to use stove top. I would scramble 6 eggs, while he toasted English muffins, then we would add a slice of cheese and deli ham, and put eggs in between. Then wrap up in plastic wrap and he would microwave for 1min in the morning! He loved them and they looked good to me.
Hi Emmy! I really appreciate your videos so much. As a guy in his early 20s who has moved away from all my family, I was really really sad not being able to make any of my mom’s favorite dishes with her skill and love. After lots of practice and copying what you do in your videos I’d like to think I’m turning into a good little cook! Thank you so much for helping me connect with my mom more through our shared love of food. Itadakimasu!
Butcher from Canada here 😊 Canadian bacon is referred to as Back bacon here and it’s a smoked/cured pork loin! and Peameal is back bacon that’s been brined and rolled in cornmeal!! It’s very tasty
Hi American here, I'm an online gamer though so I have Canadian friends. Thanks for posting this so I don't have to annoy my friends with another dumb American questions. lol
I had this exact model but tossed it when decluttering to my regret. The one note I have for you is that the owner's manual specifically said use hard cheeses like cheddar. The reason for that is that American cheese will liquefy when put in as much heat as this little machine makes, and it gets messy. If you want to use American, just add it separately at the end, and let the heat of the sandwich melt the cheese. Also try adding some chives!
You can just fold the corners of the cheese onto it self making an octagon shape. Have made hundreds of sandwiches with american and never had it leak.
From Oregon here, i also got mine from a "thrift store" and paid $5.99 too. Tried the EnglishMuffin, TurkeyBacon, ShreddedCheddar with a CrackedEgg for 4 minutes, not 5. Mine tried out lovely. I use mine just to cook 2 eggs (1 top & 1 lower) for 3 minutes and use it 3x a week, for over a year. Never any problems.
I have even used a jumbo egg in mine without any problems. You just have to be sure it's hot when you start. I also cook my eggs for 2 1/2 to 3 minutes at the most. They come out nice and fluffy. Fresh deli cheese works better, too.
I have that little appliance, but a slightly newer, digital one (same as your link). Hadn’t used it in a long time. I frequently eat the egg muffin breakfast sammiches from a local gas station/convenience store (they’re good). But your video reminded me that I have the little machine to make my own dang sammiches at home. Thanks!! Now I want one, & it’s almost bedtime. LOL!!
I have the double version of this. Haven't used it in a while. But I use to put the muffin in split side toward the heating element while it preheated. Ten flip it around when I added everything else. I used precooked frozen sausage. (thawed first)
I love my sandwich maker. I have a double one. Ive sent them to a few people as gifts. I use the little pre cooked sausage rounds. Tastes exactly like sausage egg McMuffin. It is pretty easy to clean, damp cloth and the middle part can be removed and washed in the sink when needed. There are a few recipes around too, you can make little pizzas and such too.
Uh she's human. Not a goat. We eat goats. Dont be a moron. And idk what yt is... cause she's clearly not in the Yukon territory. Seriously. Go get an education. You'll be thankful
This is probably the only non-stick item I still own. I've had it for years, and never used scratchy stuff on it, so it's still pristine. It's just so easy to throw the stuff in, then continue getting read for the morning. I never had issues with larger eggs, but I think the english muffins we get around here are on the smaller side, so that may compensate. And yes, always cheese after. There's plenty of heat in the sandwich to melt it more than enough.
Love mine, it was gifted to me for Christmas a couple of years ago. I recently found a duo on fb marketplace and use that one on weekends when the hubby is home
It's always exciting when you find a cool kitchen gadget that's in good condition. Many years ago, I found a like new Snackmaster machine. You know the one from the 2AM infomercials from the 90s. The lady would make everything from omelet to corndogs to pizza. I loved that thing. Made the best grill cheese.😋
Because of Emmy, I found a chili crisp I like. She likes S&B umami topping crunchy garlic -- hard to find, but finally got it at World Market. I have tried about 1/2 dozen others and ended up tossing them. This one is getting used up fast so I hope World Market still carries it. (for different purposes, e.g., dumpling sauce, I like the Mae Ploy sweet chili sauce) Which chili crisp do you recommend?
Thank you, that was fun, but I wish you had shown the bottom of the cooked sandwich. "Canadian bacon" is just a specific type of smoked back bacon, as opposed to regular or "streaky bacon" which comes from the belly.
My definitions of ‘bacon’, from a Canadian. Bacon- just like that in the US. From the belly of the pig, is smoked. Usually sold raw Ham- cured leg of pork, not usually smoked. Usually sold cooked Back bacon - cured and smoked loin of pork. It is usually sold cooked Peameal bacon- pork loin, cured, but not smoked, rolled in peameal, sold raw I believe ‘Canadian bacon’ in the US is what we call back bacon. There also seem to be cheaper versions which are really just ham in a circle, convenient for breakfast sandwiches.
I’ve used mine for years. Love the ready cook bacon in mine and often use jumbo eggs. I also have used an extra yolk. Cooks much better at a home environment where not distracted by filming and narrating. If you assemble when unit is heated and not stop in between, cooking is perfection. Doing closer to 4 minutes makes a better egg for me. I prefer a bit runny. Even with a full kitchen, this little gadget makes a tasty and fast sandwich. Still going strong after so many years and use.
I have that exact same one. I bought it new, but I think I only paid about $20 for it. I've had it for a good decade and it still works great! I'll sometimes use frozen waffles (partially toasted before hand) instead of English muffins. Tastes great!
We picked up one with timer about 3yrs ago for 5 bucks. I still use it during work days for hubby breakfast sammies. We also like to use flat bagels (do need to trim them to use, however its fun to make different morning sandwiches
I have a dual sandwich version of this. Picked it up new on clearance at a substantial discount. I guess when I think about it, the cleanup doesn't make it worth the trouble when I could make the same sandwich in a pan with a silicone egg ring.
@@jbg6550 I so hate the ones that leave a sticky residue. Or the labels on jars I want to reuse. I put almost boiling water in the jar and some of the labels pull off nicely with that. But others... Then I have to use oil and a scrubber and take a lot of time to remove the labels. With some of them, nothing works.
I use one all the time, but just to cook the egg and assembly. I toast the english muffin (Bays) in a pan and the sausage as well. Then when the egg is done, that's when the muffin, sausage and cheese goes in. I know what's the point? It does a great job with the egg. It is the second pan I would have used anyway. The nonstick surface does last and looks new even after routine use for years. (I used to use ham or Canadian bacon but prefer sausage so I only use that.)
Hi Emmy! I was born in Michigan and I remember peameal bacon, which is actually Canadian bacon that's been rolled in yellow peameal. And Canadians call the meat 'back bacon'. :)
Hello Emmy, so I suggest you swap out the English muffin for a Pretzel roll bun instead Keep the Canadian Bacon Also swap the fake American garbage cheese instead use a slice of Cheddar Cheese and or a slice of the Pepper Jack hot Cheese !! It will taste way better.
I got one from my employer for “10 years” of service. 🤣 It’s on its 13th year and still going strong For the cheese, I just bend it over and tuck it under the meat, so it doesn’t hang over the edges (Not sure if Canadian Kraft slices are smaller) Precooked sausage rounds works great. I just slightly reheat 15 seconds to get the fridge chill off of it first Large eggs works fine (at least Canadian large size). Your cooker is preheated, so it cooks the egg edges to prevent leaks.
i had a problem with dropping the top muffing right on the egg, i will never be able to use this cause i could never be sure the egg was cooked, i do have a bit of ocd and this pushes a button
Speaking of breakfast, Im wondering if Emmy has ever cooked salt pork. Some stores have it in a chunk ( which never made sense because we always had to ask the butcher to slice it into a thickness of a thick cut bacon) anyhow the texture is so different from bacon because of the way the fat renders. Emmy might find it interesting that a close to inedible rind is left over after eating away the crackling like meat.
I use it literally daily. Just use a wet paper towel to wipe when it’s still hot to clean. It’s great at making sausage egg muffins. I use the bottom to cook meat and eggs and use the top to toast the muffins separately.
Unitasker? I use mine to make mini pancakes, eggs, as well as the awesome breakfast sandwiches. I've even used it to crisp pizza pops after a shorter microwave cycle. It's a little hot spot you can cook on.
Canadian here: What you guys call "Canadian Bacon", we just call ham. And what you guys call bacon, we call bacon. I never, ever saw anything labeled "Canadian bacon", and never saw someone outside an American call it "Canadian bacon". It's one of things where I've grown up ever only seeing Americans call it that. 😅
That’s what McDonald’s calls the meat in the American Egg McMuffin. It’s not something most American’s eat on regular except on breakfast sandwiches. Another thing invented by the marketing department at Mickey D’s?
I've had mine for ages. It's great. Butter the muffin. Use real cheese. Scramble the egg before pouring in. Don't put the top muffin on. Let the egg cook, 4 mins. Put the top muffin on right before you take it out. It makes breakfast sandwiches the way McDonald's did in the 70s, before they messed it up.
My daughter got one when she turned 8. We still use it, 11 years later. My tips: when it's preheating, put the muffin in the top and bottom, upside down so the inside start to to toast. Or, even better, put the Eng muffin in a toaster on a bagel setting. I often use it with no English muffin. I've also made crustless mini pizzas in it.
It's one of those devices people buy, use a couple of times, then it ends up at the back of a cupboard for a decade until someone pulls it out and thinks "I'll get this going again!", then uses it once and puts it back once more, never to be used again... :P
On the other hand, I've been using mine every morning for years and years....and I've made many thousands of breakfast sandwiches. There is life outside of your comfort zone, and a lot of us are quite happy here.
I have one of those. I got it like 10 years ago. I did use it back then, but it's just not as good as throwing one together normally. The way the egg touches the bread and the decreased bread toastiness
In my experience here in the New England region of the US, "Canadian bacon" is a pork product that is cured like bacon, sliced thinner than ham slices, usually in rounds. It is less fatty than strip bacon, and can tend towards the "chewy" side of things. Yummy!
Love mine but I don’t follow the cooking instruction. This works best for me- 1) Crack egg in top, cook 2 minutes 2) Add top of muffin, cook 30 seconds 3) Add bottom muffin and meat, cook 30 seconds 4) Add cheese and cook until done, about 1 minute
4:46 Peameal bacon is actually something different! It's a ham rolled in cornmeal and its usually found presliced like "Canadian bacon". That said, generally we refer to what you guys call "Canadian bacon" as either peameal bacon or back bacon. We also have regular bacon which is much more common haha
To the best of my knowledge, we call Canadian Bacon either Canadian Bacon or back bacon in Canada. I think peameal bacon is Canadian bacon with a peameal coating. Also, before bacon became a meme about 15 years back, an obsession with bacon (just regular bacon, not Canadian bacon) was kind of a stereotype that got tossed at Canadians a lot. We have a very complicated relationship with bacon. 😆
I've used mine every morning for years, and I've made many thousands of sandwiches. It's no more difficult to clean than any other thing I wash and rinse daily.
I started frequenting Saver’s a few years ago because of you Emmy! Have yet to find a Zojirushi bread maker like you did, but I haven’t given up lol American or Cheddar?
In the last couple years I have found 5 Zojirushi bread makers! Three large models (1 new in box) and 2 of the smaller models. I don't think the people donating them realize what a wonderful bread maker Zojirushi makes. Imo the older Breadman machines are great too. Every single bread machine I have ever used was purchased from various Goodwills. Happy hunting!
@@beentheredonethat814 holy! Where the heck are you located? Because 5 is insane and different sizes to boot! I’m in the Chicagoland area. I’ll be keeping an eye out for a Breadman now too, thanks for the tip :)
Wow! It may be space saving but, it's not exactly more efficient. The instructions that came with my Belgian waffle maker suggested Not using cooking spray but, cooking oil. Something in the spray damages the non-stick surface over time, rendering it a Very-stick surface.
The sizzling cheese 🧀 made it sound delicious 😋. I think you’re right, very toasted English muffins taste better (McDonald’s take note) and American cheese is kind of plasticky
It works good but I wish I got the dual with a timer. I used it every morning before work. Keep it clean and spray with a release oil. Even then, sometimes the egg whites leak, but I think that might have been due to egg quality.
Hi Emmy, I have been a sub since your UK snack taste test days, (It seems a life time ago). I have a question about kitchen gadgetry.... I live on a narrowboat, therefore space is at a premium, I have honed my gadget level over the years to "Essential" only.. for eggsample (sorry, not sorry) A cast iron Dutch oven is a must, a string pull veg chopper, a couple of very sharp knives, a mini rice cooker with a cute bear on... etc etc... My question is, what are 2 essential items outside the obvious which you would recommend which are useful, space saving and energy efficient ? 🍜🧀 ps BLT with dry cure smoked back bacon in the breakfast sarnie all day...
I think that's pretty ingenious to have the heating element between the sandwich, it's basically doing double duty of cooking the egg, and the ham at the same time; from the inside of the sandwich. A very small suggestion if you use this for easier cleaning, would be to put down your spray on the bottom element first before the top element, that will keep you from pouring out a lot of it down the backside when you pull the top element up. Like I said, a very minor thing, I think just in the filming process it's something that slipper her mind. Not something she might have done in casual use.
I have the double sandwich maker. I love this machine. I make sandwiches at least 3x's a week for work. 4.5 minutes is my sweet spot. I use ham, cooked bacon, cooked sausage patties, cooked chorizo, you name it. Also try a little cookie or brownie batter too. Makes great individual desserts to hammer those sweet tooth cravings. So good. I also like to make mini pizzas in mine. The uses are endless and up to your imagination. Easy clean up make this thing a huge winner in our house. Also made a great gift for my niece in college dorms. She was making some money selling breakfast sammies for $5 each.
I gave one to my son last year for a Christmas present. It was a big fail for us. I didn't bother cleaning it. It went right into the trash as we found it rather useless and looked way too hard to clean after the debacle we had that made a mess of it.
Huh! Like you said, this would work well for someone maybe in a dorm or an RV. Might not buy for myself since (also) as you said you can do most of this in a pan but pretty clever!
I got a double version, same exact brand and style as this and have loved it so far. Those rings also lift out of the hinge for easy washing too. The only thing you need to do is make sure the protein you are using is cooked already cause it only takes about 4 minutes to cook a sandwich, so its not enough to cook a raw protein.
Neat gadget, but I don’t see the efficiency in this. The only thing it does is make round eggs that are the same size as your English muffin but why not just sell egg rings or mini pans to do the same thing? I just wish it was a more versatile machine given its size.
Hi ....i was wondering if you can do a carob vs chocolate taste test... so many people i know say that carob taste just like chocolate but it's way healthier
Carob is nice, but no, it does not taste like chocolate. Back in my hippy days it was all the rage to use carob rather than chocolate (why? no good reason). It never satisfied my chocolate needs.
My fav breakfast sandwiches... 1 Scrambled eggs and cheese on wheat toast. And second frozen pancakes and burger sized sausage patties. P-S-P-S-P like a breakfast Big Mac. Yummy! With these small appliances you kinda have to weigh in the versatility. You can get a single burner hotplate and skillet and cook anything. You could also get an electric kettle (hotpot) for tea, coffee, packaged sides, hot dogs, ramen, boiling eggs...they are the same size as that breakfast sandwich maker which looks like a one trick pony. To be fair you can switch up your ingredients but it's still a breakfast sandwich. I have also seen a lot done with a waffle maker. And there are also toasters, maybe even the gf grill. Also you want to pay attention to how easy your gadget is to clean (and how clean they get for the effort) esp if you are in small space or if you pack the item in your luggage or smoosh it in a box with other stuff.
We buy a capicollo that fits well. No Canadian bacon in this Ontario town. No back bacon either. Peameal bacon has been rolled in cornmeal and needs to be cooked.
What do you put in your breakfast sandwich?🥓🍳🧀

I love egg cheese and a big ol hash brown in the middle. Some bacon too sometimes but egg cheese hash brown is the go to for me.

Ok
That’s what McDonald’s calls the meat in the American Egg McMuffin. It’s not something most American’s eat on regular except on breakfast sandwiches. Another thing invented by the marketing department at Mickey D’s?
@@burritofueled7415 My friend from Canada said that what we call Canadian bacon she calls back bacon
It's Canadian bacon in the uk
Peameal bacon is different, too. It has cornmeal on the outside. Never have seen Canadian bacon here in Canada. 😊
I've tried 3 different breakfast sandwich makers and every single time it seems to make more sense to just use a pan
I have this and the double version and love them
I got 2 my mini for Christmas and love them
My daughter got one when she turned 8.
I enjoy all your shows
She's so comforting.
It's one of those devices people buy, use a couple of times, then it ends up at the back of a cupboard for a decade until someone pulls it out and thinks "I'll get this going again!", then uses it once and puts it back once more, never to be used again... :P
I would prefer if we have private discu-ssion!!!
Yummy!
I bought mine brand new at the thrift store $5 ❤ too
Love mine but I don’t follow the cooking instruction. This works best for me-
1) Crack egg in top, cook 2 minutes
2) Add top of muffin, cook 30 seconds
3) Add bottom muffin and meat, cook 30 seconds
4) Add cheese and cook until done, about 1 minute
people buy these things to save time but never realize how difficult it is to clean
It wipes clean with water...
Actually this gadget is very easy to clean.
@@YouDummy it's about having multiple parts, and an awkward shape. cleaning a regular pan is easier.
I've used mine every morning for years, and I've made many thousands of sandwiches. It's no more difficult to clean than any other thing I wash and rinse daily.
I started frequenting Saver’s a few years ago because of you Emmy! Have yet to find a Zojirushi bread maker like you did, but I haven’t given up lol
American or Cheddar?
She said American

Take the wrapper off.
Dude was just chillin on his shelf at Goodwill, minding his business, and now he’s famous on the internet. He didn’t ask for this. 😂
It works good but I wish I got the dual with a timer. I used it every morning before work. Keep it clean and spray with a release oil. Even then, sometimes the egg whites leak, but I think that might have been due to egg quality.
I put sausage, cream cheese, egg & sliced cheese on English muffins or bagels.
Everything's better with cream cheese.
I remember when these came out! Em please show us some mercy. I feel so old already.
Its interesting but I think I will just stick with my electric griddle, which I can make something like this with but a lot of other things too.
I would prefer if we have private discu-ssion!!!
Young Roman from Defying the Odds, has been using one of these for several years and he’s about 9 now. He mastered it at about 5!
We are on our second one of these Hamilton Beach sandwich makers. My husband uses it Every. Single. Day.
I think it needs some Tabasco! Lol! I'm so jealous that you get fresh eggs, lucky you! 😊😂
Really 😮
Really 😮
I gave one to my son last year for a Christmas present. It was a big fail for us. I didn't bother cleaning it. It went right into the trash as we found it rather useless and looked way too hard to clean after the debacle we had that made a mess of it.
I love all your product reviews 👍🏼
Huh! Like you said, this would work well for someone maybe in a dorm or an RV. Might not buy for myself since (also) as you said you can do most of this in a pan but pretty clever!
I soak maple syrup onto the inside top bunn and butter the outsude top bun and keeps from burning and add flavor
I have had one for years. Used maybe twice works but just use a pan. Toaster.
I've been debating about buying one of these. At least now I know they actually do work.
I got one for my son when he was in college and he loved it. So yes, it's been more than 10 years as he's 31 now
Peameal bacon has peameal (crushed dried peas) on the edges. As a Canadian, I don't recognize "Canadian bacon" other than just ham.
I love the Christmas thyme. 😊
Happy Holidays Emmy!!
i have the exact same one, got it for like $10 at the local good will. it's been awesome. :)
Happy New Year to you and all your loved ones, Emmy ❤
