A few things. This fly reminds me of the Goldie fly we fish for fresh and saltwater fish. It uses Bill's Body Braid that is unraveled. It never occurred to me to try an articulated version. I use the same inexpensive scissors but the points of your scissors look stained from heating. Did you do this to harden the temper? Love the tip of holding the scissors so that you can better cut an angle while trimming. Thanks
I just checked out the Goldie, cool! I think you'll find Shimmerbou a little easier to work with, no unraveling required. Regarding the scissors, they are stained from me hitting them with a torch. No nothing cool like hardening them, just me getting super glue on them by mistake! The heat gets the glue off, making them good as new!
Great question, YES flashabou more pliable and shimmerbou is stiffer. At the end of the day you could tie this pattern with any sort of metallic flash material, the nice thing about shimmerbou is that it maintains its shape in and out of the water.
Gonna have to try this one out! Never used this material, but gonna get some. Thanks for sharing the expertise!
You bet!
What a great pattern! Would it still swim as well if you cut off the front hook and just use the trailer hook in the back?
Yes, the fly will still keel and move just fine!

Is there a difference between shimmerbou and flashabou

Thank you for your advice and videos.
Always a pleasure!!
