To be fair, Duncan never came across as a guy who bought into the pomp and circumstance of sports. He wasn't disrespectful, but he also wasn't someone who was easily excited and usually kept his thoughts to himself. Even after his last game against Kobe (both retired in 2016), he really wasn't very emotional about never playing against him again. The dude didn't grow up in the US, so he just didn't have the reverence that most did when talking about MJ.

This was my favorite time to watch basketball. Jordan was on another level mentally than everybody else. Tim Duncan came in and made All-NBA as a rookie, which is quite a feat. There was a great group of young stars coming up Including Kobe, Iverson, Duncan, McGrady, Allen and Garnett,who wanted to make history themselves and they did.

That Spurs team was loaded with talent! The reason the Spurs had the first pick was because David Robinson was out for the season in 96. Spurs were awful without the Admiral. Spurs end up with the worst record, earn the #1 pick, and pick Duncan to set up the twin Towers. Robinson comes back healthy for Duncan's rookie season and they immediately were top tier team. Robinson was still an incredible player, Sean Elliot, Chuck Person, Ginoboli, Avery Johnson and Vinny Del Negro were all legit talents. Plus grumpy Pop my zit as coach! With those two towers defending the rim and destroying the boards plus killing it down low on the offensive side, the Spurs were as good as it gets. Michael was the only offensive weapon the Bulls had and still that Spurs team had no answers for him.

No defense, just poor shooting. Players today can shoot a lot better and there are more of them on a roster. Add in more 3pt attempts and scores today are a lot higher.

Most offenses back then were built off of big men who dominated in the paint and kicked it out to the 3 pt line as alternate offensive option on the play. Also, half court sets that ran up the shot clock was more prevalent then, opposed to now where teams are averaging more possessions because they are shooting quicker in the shot clock, all started by D'Antoni's 7-second offense. However, SAS could lock down even the teams with sharp shooters.

To be fair, Duncan never came across as a guy who bought into the pomp and circumstance of sports. He wasn't disrespectful, but he also wasn't someone who was easily excited and usually kept his thoughts to himself. Even after his last game against Kobe (both retired in 2016), he really wasn't very emotional about never playing against him again. The dude didn't grow up in the US, so he just didn't have the reverence that most did when talking about MJ.

This was my favorite time to watch basketball. Jordan was on another level mentally than everybody else. Tim Duncan came in and made All-NBA as a rookie, which is quite a feat. There was a great group of young stars coming up Including Kobe, Iverson, Duncan, McGrady, Allen and Garnett,who wanted to make history themselves and they did.

That Spurs team was loaded with talent! The reason the Spurs had the first pick was because David Robinson was out for the season in 96. Spurs were awful without the Admiral. Spurs end up with the worst record, earn the #1 pick, and pick Duncan to set up the twin Towers. Robinson comes back healthy for Duncan's rookie season and they immediately were top tier team. Robinson was still an incredible player, Sean Elliot, Chuck Person, Ginoboli, Avery Johnson and Vinny Del Negro were all legit talents. Plus grumpy Pop my zit as coach! With those two towers defending the rim and destroying the boards plus killing it down low on the offensive side, the Spurs were as good as it gets. Michael was the only offensive weapon the Bulls had and still that Spurs team had no answers for him.

No defense, just poor shooting. Players today can shoot a lot better and there are more of them on a roster. Add in more 3pt attempts and scores today are a lot higher.
@@richb1653 I won't say poor shooting. But I do agree that the higher scores are from more 3pt attempts versus points in the paint. Most offenses back then were built off of big men who dominated in the paint and kicked it out to the 3 pt line as alternate offensive option on the play. Also, half court sets that ran up the shot clock was more prevalent then, opposed to now where teams are averaging more possessions because they are shooting quicker in the shot clock, all started by D'Antoni's 7-second offense. However, SAS could lock down even the teams with sharp shooters.
@richb1653s scores were low in the late 90s and early 2000s cause the pace slowed down cause teams started emphasizing defense since they would copy the play style of the team that was winning which was the bulls
