This has to be criminally underrated and one of the best explanations of speed reading and how to get better at it, the editing is top notch to make it even better, I will definitely revisit this video again in a bit to take down notes 408 WPM it seems and 3 answers were right Amazing work and channel, earned a sub Professor 🙏🏼
Bless you! I hugely appreciate the comment. I did the series on reading a while back after only being on TH-cam a few months and never edited or filmed before. it’s a struggle as when you begin TH-cam seems extra harsh on your content and even though the stats are good, TH-cam just kills it after a few days. I’m just needing one to break out and pop off, but hasn’t happened. It’s just a lesson to strive and be patient, I’m still learning and think I’m ready now to make more watchable content. The algorithm blesses far inferior content straight away, but my time will come, just need to keep on keeping on! If you ever need anything academically I’m here for you, just drop me a line. Stick around on the channel and good luck in your journey, Mark
@Professor Mark Egan It would probably help to invite friends or those who need such content from your daily life onto here. But you'll need to assess the demand first, and target specifically those who you can see benefitting from your content. Ex: If you're a professor, recommend videos to inquisitive students.
@@ShawrmaM8 great points and advice. Thank you. I naively thought in my position and with contacts I’d instantly get lots of student subscribers from contacts. Last year I’d personally lectured across my modules over 1000 students. I contacted people in the academic skills support who help 1000’s of students. However the conversion rate is poor. many of the students have not seemed interested! But that’s not to say they should. Ultimately the best way to get subscribers is to make a great video and TH-cam puts it out to the right audience, but it’s never really done that. I think I can create content with better value to students and also be more consistent with uploading. I can do less edited videos but might get to the heart of what students want. What do you think if I do more, which focus on things like live office hour, dissecting examples of essays and dissertations, assignment question and answer sessions etc?
@Professor Mark Egan The problem at core isn't your content or your quality skills, from what I've read so far. It's understanding the target audience. This is actually a very vital concept in business (example). Try understanding what students find interesting, and make sure your sample size is large. My opinion alone doesn't speak for the thousands you want to attract. Also, make use of chatgpt. It can help clear alot of confusion in many areas of having a TH-cam channel.
@@ShawrmaM8 thanks for your comments. I agree with what you say and have done all that you say. To be honest, it doesn’t matter if my community is 50 or 50,000, if you help one good soul and they let you know the difference it makes, then you don’t need more than that, and are only really chasing that same thing, all the best, Mark.
752 wpm, all correct I feel like the passage was a bit short however so i was able to look at the main idea of each section just by reading along the middle.
Sorry, I made it over year ago, it was supposed to be a ridiculous parody of preposterous speed reading videos and challenges. The whole thing was a theatre of the absurd, with surrealist undertones throughout, packed full of nonsense. But that actually had some useful advice. Hope your journey goes well
