    This is fascinating. I'm an entrepreneur learning this to help manage my own business but I am also a Japanese interpreter and I recently completed a 4 month contract with Toyota, interpreting for toyota execs coming over from Japan, and I had to pretty much become an expert at the Toyota Production System in order to understand the context. The number one objective of TPS is cost minimization, and they have the best systems in the world for costing their processes, not only on the factory floor, but for every element from the suppliers, to shipping, to production factories, to assembly factories, all the way to the customer, for each individual vehicle; and even for the things they do in the back office.
