Question: since the end caps are screwed in, could there be an air pocket in the middle of the screw is shorter than the bolt? And would that make the ball imperfectly balanced?
I don’t know too much physics but probably you could have right. Maybe someone more experienced to answer to this question , I will pin the comment here !
I would not worry about the balance as copper (8.96 g/cm³) and steel (7.85g/cm³) have different densities, so it was never going to balance anyway. On the other hand, you could use the air pocket hide a message or something small and valuable.
Instead of restoring something old/broken, I'd love to see you design/make something you've always wanted *from scratch.* Something unique to you from your past, the shop, or life outside the shop-anything you like via: *"I make a new one."* Especially if it involved using items you've restored in past videos. jmo
@@CoolAgainRestorationI appreciate you taking us on this journey with you!!! My father-in-law left me his cane and I recently broke the 8ball on the end of it. I would love your help to recreate it!!!
Yes, it would be interesting to see how well they play. I expect with the hard surface it would be very similar to a resin ball. The weight may affect play (for good players) as the distance would be different for a similar power.
@@CoolAgainRestoration this has me thinking of different materials for each ball and if I can add my opinion to the pool, a tungsten 8 ball would be amazing. SUPER heavy 👀
I love copper, beautiful job! Turning copper on the lathe can really be a pain sometimes, I bet this was a lot of work. But it definitely was worth it! 🙏🏼
I don’t even know what to say at this point! Other than…like…I want one so bad!!!!! Awesome. Brilliant. Amazing. What are you making the pool cue out of??? I’m just speechless. You have officially moved into the artist arena. Also I am so jealous of your tap and die. Just wow. Again I wish you and yours the very best!
Thanks a lot for being here every time , Coby ! And glad you enjoyed so much , I try my best every time! Cheers and hope you are your family are well too 👍
That’s so crazy. The shine/polish is so good at some angles you can’t tell that you are looking at a ball. You just see the ocean and other items. Imagine a game of pool with a whole rack of these. Really beautifully done, very cool.
🤯 That's it! You've blown my mind! ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!! Superior craftsmanship. Impressed BEYOND EVERYTHING!!! Now you need to make the rest so you can shoot some pool/billards.
On thing that distinguishes guys like you and mymechanics from the rest of the pack is: making a tool for a restoration. Amazing job sir, I appreciate your work!
Beautiful work! Had you kept that shank on the end of the ball instead of cutting it off and smoothing for pool, it would make a great gearshift knob for a sports car!
Im a veteran Machinist/Tool and Die Man for the last 30yrs and I had to take the time to tell you….. Fine Job ,Veryyyy…….Fine job! From here looks like you got good calculated and smooth moves. Yessir, fine job FINEJOB
That's the way of mastership... creating a masterpiece!!! Don't play pool... but this ball is a definitly highend highlight.... love it!!! Real good job!!! 👌👍
Holy frig it turned out beautiful 😍🤩 i do wish da copper stood out a bit more but it honestly looks as if it were shiny glass as it is. Well done sir 👏👏👏
I had to take credits to him because it was his idea to make a ball from steel and apart of that , we are friends who talk every day. But for some people who want to say that I steal the idea from him , I had to not agree that, because my decision was to make a ball with different techniques and video making. I saw some other TH-camrs who they made the 8 ball too , practically it is the same way to do it but with different materials . I don’t understand why if you are a craftsman, why don’t choose other ball , or other way to do it 🤯
Took me all weekend to find time to watch this. Copper is my favorite metal. Had no idea it was possible to machine a completely round object. You have all this stuff in your garage at home? Maybe if I had half your talent I would have half your subscribers. Glad to see no task ever puts you _behind the 8 ball._ Stupendous as always, my friend.
My first goal was to identify a different method than MM because I wanted to be different than him and my viewers to see something different than his video 😇 thanks a lot and glad you liked
The “C” shape of the 5 was very challenging. I tried first time on a brass part like a test and was made perfectly from first time. Then I tried on stainless steel and I made mistake , twice 😅 but in the end I reached a good result

Diersta just made a billiards table recently. I think it would be amazing if there was a collaboration between a bunch of makers to make the rest of the balls needed to have a full set for billiards and then a game was played using these metal balls on his table. Well maybe he could make a sacrificial table to play on. I don't think a normal table would survive having metal balls used.

probably yeah. The pieces are different shapes and materials so it's highly likely it isn't balanced. Although with that rolling test... maybe not?
Good job! Which one should I make next?
please add other episodes of datsun restoration..
The cue ball from damascus.
Miss you videos too 😭😭😭

@my mechanics deja vu 😅
Perfect. Just skill. No voice. Its everything I ever wanted in a turning video.
Thanks a lot mate 😊
Well that was utterly satisfying. Incredible machining skills, patience, and craftsmanship. Thank you for sharing this :)
Glad you enjoyed it!😊
it was satisfying, wasn't it? that's the word I had in mind, too!

Danke schon brudher 😊
The tool you made for shaping the ball was excellent! Drill a thread in the bottom and you have the mother of all gearshift knobs 😉👍🏻
Thanks a lot mate and glad you enjoyed 😊 that probably is a good idea 👍
Until you go to shift on a hot sunny day!
@@GrayRaceCat I have a metal one in my Mini, so I know the feeling!
Incredible! Beautiful. I would love to see a complete set and then actually playig pool with them.
Great idea! Thanks a lot 😊
Would be difficult to pull off, but I'd love to see that too.
it wouldnt work, they would stop dead as they have no rebound
Maybe not. IF they were all the same size as billard balls, less material. @@Dragon359
Wouldn't the harder materials like stainless steel damage the softer material like copper?
Loved that final transformation from the cylinder into a sphere. Very nicely done!
Thanks a lot and glad you enjoyed 😊
We need a full set between y’all too.
My mechanics does all the solid balls and you do all the striped balls. That would be absolutely sick pool set
That sound challenging 😈
My man! That is absolutely amazing. The precision is next level.
Your work is exemplary. 🙂
Thank you very much mate 😊

oh my god this is more HD than real life :O
Now that two of you have done this, this should be a machinist rite of passage.
How long until we have a full set 👀

Wow, excellent results and best of all this was done "old school" without any CNC.
Yeah , I didn’t wanted to use the CNC because I wanted to give people something nice to see 😇
That was a gorgeous build. Nice to see a peice done from scratch vs a restoration. I love to watch a gifted artist, like you, at work! Kudos!
