Poor Duck Creek... The club house burned down last year. This used to be a country club that went under. Then got picked up by someone else who has been trying to put in money to get the course up to par. Its been a struggle. That course used to be amazing.
Duck Creek was definitely not bad. I've played many worse courses.
Well said. Over the last 10 years it’s gone down hill so much. Very sad to see. It’ll be hard for them to come back at this point.
For some reason I knew he was going to play Duck Creek. Just short of the city of Garland buying it and maintaining it, I don't know how this course will survive.
Duck Creek was OK. Without knowing the weather conditions hard to say why grass was kept long in places and extra water around in others.
Lmao
Middle class man here who loves playing golf! I grew up playing these types of courses… great deals! $36 for 18 with a cart and two waters… c’mon now! Municipal courses can be fun because they can be challenging due to the lack of care/management that the nicer courses provide. It’s best to use these courses for learning shots that you might not find yourself hitting in nicer establishments
Apparently JC recently acquired Eagle Crest. All their courses are very well managed. Looking forward to playing there again.
Going through the sewage drain to get to the course? What is this, The Shawshank Redemption??? 🤣 Great seeing Coach again!
Great to see coach again. Love seeing these run down golf courses makes mine look top rated
Man that was nice to see coach for a brief moment hopefully him and his brother are being treated right out there in San Diego and playing excellent golf
Love your humor, Matt. Great to see Coach again.
“Dry Water” that’s a new one😂
You couldn’t pay me to drink that water
Looks like you had a great time. From what I've learned in life if people are miserable they will leave miserable reviews no matter what...and if people are happy they will just take it as a new experience. I enjoy the game and love the series.
Love this series
Keep em coming 😊
Absolutely love this series please continue to make more Matt ❤
This is probably my new favorite golf channel!
Dude I love the editing and commentary. I wish I could get out on the courses more.
That was so awesome that you were in DFW and at Duck Creek. I haven't played there myself yet because of the reviews on Golf Now, but that is great you were there.
We have so many courses here in DFW.
Loved the Water station review 😂 it is essential for courses in Texas to have them and you went into taste review 😂😂😂
Great content and looking forward to more!
It rains a lot in Texas, deluges actually. Great to see Coach again, miss them both. Fun to watch you make the rounds on these courses.
Glad to see this segment back, such a great light hearded video with plenty of loves laughs. Keep up the great work, one of if not my #1 American youtuber
I literally LOLd watching you “rake” that bunker at the end. 😂
While you were in north county you should have hit up my old home course, Pala Mesa. I just so badly would love to see a video of you playing it! Hows that for an idea for a new series? Play subscribers home courses and rate them.
When I play a course with concrete tee boxes I always use the Laura Davies technique. Take a wedge flip it around slap the dirt to make a mound and send it
you raking that “bunker” at the end of the video made me explode in laughter 😂
There are water restrictions at times. Dallas also has tjat black clay dirt which gets very hard when it hasn't rained in awhile.
Love your kind analogy....your dry humor is sooo appropiate....love it
these are my absolute favorite videos from you, keep it up!
Antlers Creek in Colorado Springs will absolutely stun you with how bad it is. Come visit.
So awesome! Just found your video today and had me laughing throughout. So good. Subscribed.
This is the funniest video you have ever made. I absolutely loved it. The sarcasm makes it. Keep them coming
Great video and hilarious commentary, Matt! 30:28 Props for the extra care raking the bunker.
Hazy Hills Golf Course in Hudson, IL checks in at a 3.3 star rating. I've never played it, but I've also never seen so many negative reviews about a course owner. The best part is he seems to enjoy responding to the bad reviews. There's also Fresh Meadow Golf Club in Hillside, IL that's rated a 3.2.
25:54 is a pump station. This course either has its own water wells, or the pump station is to pull/push water from an existing utility source that they are most likely paying to purchase water from.
Matt, if you come down to Mission Texas and play Shary Municipal golf course you will think you have landed on the moon when you play their greens. In addition, the fairways are mostly hardpan. You would not believe it! It has a rating of 2 on condition.
Victoria was decent 15 years ago. Thats where I started really playing. Had a cool view of good year blimp and all. So sad to see it go. Thanks for the vid!
Two yard forward are the white tees - Just like my local, the difference between the tips and the reds is like 30m over the course.
the water randomly throughout courses comes from severe isolated storms that come and go quickly. very frequent here in north texas
Eagle Crest use to be a 9 out of 10 before the drought and pandemic. Now under new management because the old owners could not afford to keep it up.. Great lay out so wait till next years.....
Southwyck Golf Club, Pearland TX. It’s like driving on speed bumps when on the fairway.
The random water comes from broken sprinklers. Likely they are stripped and the shut off valve goes from closed to on with no stop in between.
Victoria seems to have perfected weaponized incompetence. Would they be getting as many bookings if not for holding the "World's Worst" title?
As a long time former member and two time club champion at Victoria, here’s the scoop. The greens and teeing areas have always been good due to them being built up (eliminating toxic chemicals getting through) The fairways went from poor to great after over a million $ was put into it. They are now beyond bad. You can’t grow grass on an old landfill is the lesson here.
They are actually putting a lot of money into Victoria to get everything in shape. They have already redid the greens and they have new mats on the driving ranges, new ball picker, new mowers. The investment company is committed to updating the facilities and the course.
The course actually looks to be in "great" shape compared to before
@@ianmalcolm2552why would you be a “member” there?
@tk-unc,
Well, back in the 80’s & 90’s it was in decent shape. Some of the best golfers in Southern California were members there, winning multiple countywide team play championships. And, the tournaments and side bets were very lucrative for low handicap players.
The greens at my home course have shrunk like 20ft over the passed 60 yrs and I have been trying to talk them into restoring them so the mounds, backstops, runoffs and sand traps are in play around the greens. It’s funny our bunkers are like 10 yards from edge of green now.
Great to see Coach on the channel again!
So entertaining - loved this video!
Love the review content, Matt . Good stuff it's fun seeing the good the bad and the ugly. Just and idea ,maybe tou done this already and I've missed it but how about the best value courses based on price ,Co ditto s ,and amenities. Thanks keep up the good work
Concord golf course in Chattanooga Tennessee needs to be checked out. Makes the first place look tour worthy.
Love Love love these.. Raking the bunker on 18 actually had me laughing out loud. Thanks for the pick me up Mr. Short game. Keep up the great work. I hope you got your $70 bucks back..
If you're ever in South Jersey, check out Frog Rock.
I don't want to knock it too badly, because I enjoy it whenever I find myself there, but you may get a kick out of it :)
Keep this series going! Plenty of cow pastures out there to review.
Definitely should check out some of municipal courses in Colorado. Grew up on the Rocky Ford and La Junta courses. Both are uniquely bad.
Duck Creek - the weeds and rough seemed a little suspicious, green had a lot of spots on it. That Eagle Crest review was funny! there was a Free Diddy graffiti. Links at Victoria Ranch at least had decent greens
if there is a water station every few holes, there is no amount of water in texas to keep that course watered mid summer.
The sound of the rake in that last bunker?? made my day....best worst bunker ever!!
Come back to Austin for the duo of Colovista and Pine Forest/Bastrop River Club in Bastrop. 10 minutes apart and both in genuinely horrific shape but staffed by lovely folks!
This is a classic great video from MSG!
Eagle crest was flooded. It hasn't rained in California in 20 years! And finally last year it rained more in 4 days than it had FORE VER... THEN THE TROUBLE STARTS
that exaggerated raking of the bunker in the last scene got me laughing 😂
The two rocks getting moved around did me in.
Love the rake job of the bunker even though no one would have been able to tell you were there! LOL
You need to try Ponkapoag #1 in Canton Mass. Donald Ross layout is great. Conditions are horrendous.
Yesss! Amazing layout but soul crushing conditions. So sad because it’s the course where I learned to play and love golf when I was a kid. Still kinda worth the $12 twilight round if you just wanna horse around though.
Love what you do for your viewers !!! Nice hike🤣😂
Great to see Coach!
You should check out morning star in Indianapolis for this series
Duck Creek doesn't seem THAT bad. I definitely have been on worse. There is one near Rock Hill SC called Pinetuck you should try. It is a 3.2.
Just watched your Scottsdale National Experience video followed by this.......the contrast is amazing!
Next up you need to do Steel Canyon Golf Club in Sandy Springs, GA. The driving range is nice but that's about it.
I love these videos you have to keep doing them
*Hey, Stop! I think I saw a FOSSIL on that last bunker!!* 🦕
Keep the series running Matt
“It’s like dry water. I don’t know what that means.”
That popped me🤣💀
Green valley greens in Cartersville Ga.
It’s a dump, you’ll love it. 😂
That was funny as hell ,good job 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I do enjoy this series. Quite humorous. Hate to say I’ve played worse over my years. But like always take them in stride for the experience they are.
We need a "how to" on tips for gettering out of those Victoria bunkers.
I hope that cone you touch wasn't radioactive cuz it look like it was glowing 😆!
MSG you had me laughing throughout the entire video. Especially the raking of the bunker at the end. 😂
Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort, the best place to play around duck corpses and flooting everywhere. The grass is dead and might as well tee off the sand traps or the sidewalk.
Yes, you did Eagle Crest! I'm totally confused. 🤯 Closed?!? You need to return, because you've seen nothing, trust me. Question: How did you get the gate pin?
They used to tape a piece of paper to the gate keypad that had the pin code written on it. It surprised me the residents let them get away with that as well.
@@user-ki5qe4bh9zthey don’t any more but there are about 1000 houses in there. Doesn’t take very long for someone else to come along and open it
The raking of the bunker was an instant classic
Haha love this series. Surprised you didn't try the hot dog at Victoria😂😂😂
Hilarious watching you rake that so called bunker 🤣
Spring Valley Golf course should be checked out! For this series!
Hi Coach , Golfholics Rock !
I don't know when you filmed at Eagle Crest, but opening in late summer 2024 is ambitious, that course is a fire hazard.
Played there about six months ago, what a disappointment.
Eagle Crest was one of my favorite North County courses.
Can't wait to see it in late summer.
I'm sure the greens fees will go through the roof, just like every other course.
Love the series Matt.
Love these videos. Vist the UK and do it here haha
LMAO raking that last bunker
Please please go try Hidden Valley golf course in Bryant,AL! Mats on the t-pads. All gravel cart paths on the back. A par 3 that you may need waders to play. And the lady at the desk!
Loved the way you cleaned that bunker at the end 🤣🤣👍 you made zero difference
The raking at the end 😂
😂seeing coach was worth the$70 Mr SG
This is my favorite series he does
I grew up on small town 9 hole goat tracks. I used to be a member at a club in the desert that had pea gravel for rough and telephone poles running across a few fairways. You hit a wire, the ball would go in alarming directions. I used to play on course in coastal Georgia right by a massive paper mill. The course ran through a swamp, and the paper mill stunk like toxic waste. One of my playing partners called it "Chernobyl." I used to play a course in the Midwest where every green was the same size, about 20 feet in diameter, and the greens were sand. You'd take a roller to smooth the greens a little before putting. I learned to play on a little 9 hole dump with train tracks running right by three holes. It could be deafening when one of those things would come through. I think I've played worse courses.
Sorry Matt, you were stood up by a golf course 😆
I lived in the eagle crest neighborhood for about 5 years. From what I am told it used to be a really nice course. The owner died long time ago & was inherited by his wife, she put almost no money into it & let it die. There was a new housing development in the works that promised a lot of money going to the course. This was shot down a few years ago so she finally started putting some money into it, got a little better.
However she sold the course a few months ago and the new owner is planning to put a lot of money into the course with a great company JC managing it.
The grass was all fried because the first thing they did was over water the greens and killed just about everything else, it wasn’t exactly all green before, but it was nothing like that.
Hopefully you can make it back out after the reopening all though I highly doubt it’ll be late summer 2024
Recently played at Duck Creek because every golf course in the DFW area closed due to storms and rain. Their motto should definitely be, " We ain't the prettiest, but at least we're open!"
Be very careful using those water stations. Especially in Texas, snakes like to hide in the cold damp boxes.
The water review was elite 😂
Riverside in Berea Ohio in the 60s used to have grass fires in the fairway from tossed cigarettes.
For MSG Always hit the Like Button.
I miss Coach and the Golfholics !!!!
To your question about why the Texas courses have standing water: I think it's because we get long, hot, dry spells of weather then get just a downpour of rain (especially DFW area, storms are insane) so the dry ground can't absorb the water efficiently and you get a lot of standing water.
Then again, these are supposed to be terrible golf courses so maybe it's poor planning and bad drainage.
Come to Florida, cross the skyway going south, and find a literal cow pasture with flags randomly plopped throughout. No "tee boxes" or "fairways" or "greens". Not even holes where flags are. They do have carts and massive squirrels
I live in Maine and I can assure you this course is much MUCH nicer than some of the hayfields/cow pastures we have up here.
$36 for 18 hole and a cart is a bargain.
Good video. Any chance to play is a blessing in my world.
Odessa Texas has one that is the worse I’ve ever seen, the greens had weeds on them and the fairway was more dirt than grass
I would definitely suggest Pete brown in Jackson, MS. But it might be too bad. I recently played it with a coworker and he described it before playing as a warzone. When on the green of the first par 3 the golfers behind us teed off. Also we got the cart stuck in mud which might have been more on us but still. A nightmarish golf experience.
You gotta try out Twin Oaks in Statesville NC. Perfect for this series!
Agree. It is a dog. But Lakewood in Statesville is worse than any in this series. Lakewood has little grass, carts wheels are slicks, cart dird on us on front nine, brakes barely worked, leaves covering greens so bad we could not find a couple from the fairway. People in clubhouse are asses.
