Loved this episode! When you were telling the stories of getting sick, I remembered one hospital staff appreciation day at the trauma center I worked for early in my medical career. I worked in the ER and they brought in a bunch of sandwiches and chips for us from a local restaurant. When I went back to collect labs on a patient not long after I came back from lunch my stomach started making rumbly noises. The patient was asleep and I had to fart so bad and just let it silently go. It. Smelled. So. Bad. About that time the doctor came in and said, “Oh good! The patient is finally passing gas so they should be able to go home soon”. I almost died when I looked at the doctor and said, “No. that was me”. I then made a swift exit to the bathrooms and proceeded to crap my brains out. Evidently I wasn’t the only one who had been affected that day but I was never so happy to clock out of my shift after that. Sometime later, the doctor and I, who were actually good friends, said “I wonder how many times that’s happened and I’ve discharged a patient too soon because staff didn’t own up to it”. 🤣
I also wanted to thank you for answering my question about handling mental challenges on long assignments. I have so much respect for you guys who put yourself in such a dangerous position to keep communities safe. I’ve always wondered that because I know life still happens for you outside of those jobs. Thank you for all that you do!

Thanks for answering the smoke jumper question. I learned a lot from your answer. Personally, im a structure guy but I love aircraft and anything to do with them. If I could anything fire/ems and aircraft combined, I would be happy. For reference, I'm a full-time aircraft mechanic and volley in the fire/ems world. This information will help others who want to smoke jump, thanks again! Stay safe out there.
