    OHOH! For really sweaty, hot, hormonal skin- Danessa Myricks, the balm in the tub stuff. That stuff is amazing. I once used the clear one under my armpits for a 99 degree day at an outdoor music festival, and my pits stayed bone dry for 4 hours, and still was working hard for a few hours after. It’s the ingredient in it, can’t name it, but it’s magic. The actual pigment balms are also what I end up reaching for when I don’t want to have a constant sweatstach. I’m laying it all out there, haha!

      Agree the DM clear balm is great, I pop it on top like a powder but bounce it on with damp sponge so I don’t disturb anything. I have found some foundations don’t like it but works well with the Lisa Eldridge skin tint. That stuff lasts through anything and wears off well so looks very natural even if some sweats off. I also want to pick up the LH cosmetics blotting powder as apparently it has the same stuff in it the DM balm has.

    I lived in NOLA for 11 years and danced miles down the street in Mardi Gras/Decadence parades for all those years. If you want your makeup to stay on while you party below sea level, you buy the nyx matte setting spray and spray that on after your sunscreen and before your makeup, and then again after your makeup. Ben Nye final seal for the last coat if you are really serious. This is not helpful for the sale, but it was helpful in my life 😂

    For the person who asked for something for oily skin in hot, humid climate, who is also sweating and dealing the dreaded perimenopause or menopause…here’s what I’ve found. I’m 46 with combo but very oily in the T-zone skin, large pores, lived in Houston, TX and started sweating uncontrollably once I turned 40 if the temp is higher than 70. I start with the Tarte timeless smoothing primer (thanks, Tati!) in my T zone and use the Fenty eazedrop stick. It blends so beautifully and is not greasy at all. It lasts all day. I do set with powder and set with setting spray before and after powdering. I also use the givenchy concealer thanks to Kackie and I’ve been loving this combo. I still get shiny after a few hours and have to powder but it lasts through sweating and even napping. I want to try the Lisa Eldridge skin tint next and see how it does.

    For my sweaty friend: I'm a ballet teacher and I sweat in my makeup constantly, think big drips down the forehead sweating. I agree with Kackie: don't go with matte, you'll just mush it away and it will be very obvious when you start sweating. Go with a more natural finish, and with a good, even color deposit. I've been wearing the Shiseido Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Foundation with the Shiseido Revitalessence primer when I teach, and I don't use powder, just a spritz of setting spray and I'm golden to sweat all day. This foundation is really compatible with liquid blushes and highlights, which I also recommend to withstand the sweating! Just embrace the sweat, just glow and shine!

    Hey, I have very oily skin and I am shocked by how amazing Dior stick is on my skin!
    Yea, it does not give a matte finish, but it blurs and does not shine through more than any other non-oily skin foundation.
    On top of that, it does not oxidize therefore it remains true cool rosy, it does not come off on my clothes during the day and it lasts sooooooooooo well, like I cannot compare. It doesn’t sit in fine lines, I just love it. It’s my fave.

  • @Elle0704
    @Elle0704 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

    I would normally sit quietly in the corner, but love the “mature, perimenopausal” + humidity questions. IRL, I would shout out my answers in an obnoxious, Jeopardy kind of way, but since I’ve been forewarned and in my best behavior voice… For context, I lie about my age and consider “looking 40?” a legit hobby. I use ‘LA Girl orange color corrector concealer’ under my foundation. It doesn’t emphasize my fine lines like Dermatology or look like a paste- Pixie, MUF, Beauty Pie, Glossier. (Plunking Yul is a great dupe for the Fresh Black Tea cream) Since I’m in GA, my “humidity-friendly” foundation is the SaltNY Sneaky Balm over the SuperGoop Glow Screen SPF. If I ever need to tone down the shine, my MAC Studio Fix compact is my go-to.

    For the hot menopause lady, same, and I'm oily. Yes less full coverage for sure but less layers in general and using a strong setting spray before any makeup. Personally the hourglass makes me oily. I use the Charlotte Tillbury cuz it's a stronger dry down. I also use it at the end, so a prep and a set.

    @samanthawolov7314 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +13

    For the 40+ perimenopausal "sweats it off" foundation ask: it's not at Sephora, but I've done really well with a thin-ish layer of the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow foundation, a thin layer of the Kosas powder (the new pink color is a reeeeeeeally good dupe for the original Givenchy formula in that #4 rose shade), and a setting spray (I've been using the purple Urban Decay one to give me a more "natural" texture back). I'm a 40 year old beauty photographer who already runs warm and sweats a lot, but those perimenopausal body changes are no joke, and when I'm on set, I need to look like I give a damn about makeup (because that's literally my job), but also stand and bend in weird positions for 10+ hours, carry and lift heavy equipment, etc. What I do is keep my skincare prep to a minimum in the morning--one serum that doubles as a moisturizer, and the Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen, since that doubles as a sunscreen AND a blurring primer without clogging my pores--the less stuff on your face, the less there is to sweat off. I'll actually apply 1.25 pumps of the foundation in my hand, and I know this sounds crazy, but I'll actually apply it to my face like I was applying the sunscreen or serum, and pat it in so it looks even. The Supergoop is so silicone-y that it spreads around pretty easily and you don't need that much foundation to get decent coverage that looks natural. The Supergoop + Chanel foundation + any powder does look a bit matte (though not mask-like), so if I want a sliiiiiiightly less-matte finish that looks more like natural skin, I'll use the Urban Decay setting spray (Up All Night, I think? Dark purple), and if I want to look more "done" and finished/formal, the pink One/Size setting spray is basically hairspray for your face--it WORKS, but it's also matte, and I found it was clogging my pores when I wore a mask. And then when you sweat, blot, don't smear. But I've had full days of shooting in hot studios with that combo, and I've looked relatively untouched by the end. And I have tried EVERYTHING.

    • @samanthawolov7314
      @samanthawolov7314 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      The perennial favorite is the Estee Lauder DoubleWear (regular, not heavy duty), and it's decent (can be thinned out, dries down, etc.), but I couldn't get as perfect of a shade match as I could with the Chanel (I'm B20 in Chanel, which is neutral with the faintest, faaaaaaintest hint of pink, whereas the 2N1 in the Estee Lauder looks a teeny bit yellow on me). So many of the other "longwear" formulas out there are either way too drying for healthy-but-maturing skin, or way too thick so that yeah, if it comes off with sweat, it looks terrible. And some formulas don't even dry down, which feels really disconcerting when you're a sweaty person (like the Dior Backstage reformulation from a few years ago). Estee Lauder actually had a sheer-er version YEARS ago (like, 10 years?) that was PERFECT--and in a plastic bottle that was perfect for travel, but they discontinued it, and the new "sheer" formula they came back with just wasn't quite the same.

    • @samanthawolov7314
      @samanthawolov7314 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

      Oh, and for concealers, I second Kackie's recs of the Givenchy and Kulfi. Givenchy is more serum-y and hydrating, but still dries down (good for dry skin days, or concealer-as-skin tint days), and the Kulfi is good for everyday. Both last all day. Both work fine with or without powder (though the Givenchy sometimes looks a little shiny), but the trick (and I'm sure you know this), is to put on the bare minimum you can get away with--the less you have on, the less can come off, or crease. But I've put on The Bare Minimum for all of these products, and they've served me really well. So much so, that I've apparently written a whole essay on them. But I KNOW the struggle of sweat, humidity, and perimenopause, and if I can be helpful, I'll try.

I still use this combo now that I live in FL and it's the greatest! Add UD All Nighter for truly survives apocalypse makeup lol. Using the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer makes any foundation on top of it more waterproof and stay adhered better. Also pressing powder onto the skin instead of dusting. On the oily skin foundation (+ humid weather) - Lisa Eldridge Seamless Skin Foundation. I know people go mad for the tint but as someone with oily/blemish prone skin I will wear nothing else.
    I 100% agree - on oily skin matt foundations just turn into cake, so the Lisa Eldridge will not mattify you but it WILL blur you like nobody's business. So if/when you get glowy you will still have no pores and just look like you have glass skin. I wore on a 13-hour travel day once with 2 flights and only patted my face twice with a tissue, otherwise it was perfect.
    Also for blemish prone skin - I have worn it pretty much every day for years and it hasn't broken me out once, in fact (same as the tint) my skin looked better once I started using it. It's the best

      Fwiw, I’m 54 with somewhat dry skin and both the Kulfi and the Westman Atelier are beyond lovely. I went with the Kulfi because it has a better color match for me, but both give me better coverage with less creasing than either Tower 28 or Haus Labs. I think they are also both self-setting (the MUA at Sephora said that the Kulfi one is for sure, but I didn’t need powder for either) so no need for powder, which always looks aging on me.

    As a light olive, I second the lavender setting powder! Before Givenchy came out with the minis of the Prisme Libre powders, they had a travel size of Shade 1 that was a little pot of just purple powder. It was weird, but perfect for me. Now that they've ruined the perfect powder, I have been on the lookout for a replacement. Anna Sui also has a lavender powder and that will probably be my next purchase.

      For true foundation , dior backstage is a bomb proof with a very good shade range. I also use YSL 24hrs but it doesn't work on dry skin so well, it requires good moisturing base. Plus setting spray like one size or l'oreal, again bomb proofing your makeup like hairspray.Hope that helps.

    Perimenopausal with combo skin here. I'd recommend skincare + Supergoop unseen sunscreen + primer if you do that step (Jane Iredale makes good ones, or the Tom Ford soft matte) + a liquid concealer for breakout (thanks hormones) + Janes Iredale powder foundation all over. If you still need some spot concealing, the MAC Studio fix powder. And then whatever products you like, I use creams, liquids, or powder. Just take care over blemishes that you don't undo your work (I'm "lucky" in that my breakouts are mostly on my nose).

    I have had the same results with Lisa's skin tint, making my skin feel even better after wearing it all day. In fact, I may have found a hack. I had a wedding I attended where I needed a bit more glam. I applied the skin tin under the LE foundation (almost like a primer), and not only did it withstand the humidity, dancinf and rain from the evening, the finish was so much better than with the the foundation by itself.

    I had this long comment and they keep disappearing as I’m writing them. Anyway I’ll sum it up, Sarah Creal’s brand has been around for less than a year and asks $58 for a concealer, Dior makeup since 1955, asking for $40. These newborn baby brands need to relax. They need at least 10 years of positive product proof before charging those kind of numbers.

    Flashy fox here....what I've recently found to last is pigmented liquid products (not cream). I find concentrated liquid formulas with excellent blendabily have the best staying power. Plus it's less product on your face. For foundation I like using concealer where I need it, followed by liquid bronzer/contour and liquid blush. I then set with powder bronzer and powder blush. Also try powder foundations like the OG bareminerals!!
