Stunt men of the era liked using Mopar cars for wild chase scenes because of the torsion bar suspension and Mopar ball joints. They said they held up better to the abuse than the GM and Ford vehicles of the time. Judging by the number of Mopar's in car chase scenes from the period, I guess they were correct. This Belvedere sure held up considering the punishment it was given!
The clip around 5:15 where the car gets over the tracks , looks like it busted a tie rod as it tried to get over the tracks, before the clip changed to a good car that kept chasing.
MrTheHillfolk. The car which had its tie rod broken hadn't dent in its hood, and it was replaced by another car with tie rod ok but hood and grille smashed up
I'd agree. And the curvy section going downhill looks a lot like the curvy section of using mini movies including TV shows like full House. When we are visiting we made a point to drive that section of road and I guess that's something a lot of people do.
...ppl saying 'Pig Pen', from Convoy driving the cab & not saying Pauli, from the Rocky films! Ahaha.
The taxi driver is the same guy characterized as the Pig Pen from Convoy
That's right

Mopar also had an entire department dedicated to supplying vehicles for films so they were easy to deal with.
Mopars are just better than GM and Ford period.
Looks like the same street as in Bullitt chase @ 3:26 - 3:32
Correctamundo
Also one or two locations from "What's Up, Doc?" A '69 Belvedere taxi was also used in that.
Plus one of the dirty Harry films
It is! That's where the charger's wheel bumped into that same wall, taking off one of its hubcaps

Back when police cars and taxis were muscle cars themselves.
Lots of taxis had trash 2 speeds which made em slower than a civic
Taxis were sixes or 318s at best
The police Fury has a collision with a police 1970 Ford Custom at 3:41. Separately a good idea to shoot the AMC Pacer ad hoarding.
They filmed it in San Francisco, California!
Yes
Hey, is that "Pig Pen' drivin that cab?
10-4 good buddy maybe he could back it off a mile or two. Remember that line?
Burt Young before he was Pauly in Rocky.
Chris Drummond And Love Machine/Pig Pen in Convoy
Thank you I could not think of his name of the character he played
Plymouth is the plywood of a car chasing vehicle……awkward steering system, heavy and laboriously handling. And kind of clunky, too.
1:04 ISN'T THAT THE ACTOR FOR PIG PEN IN CONVOY!!?
Yes, that's Burt Young, also from the Rocky movies.
I wonder if the cop made it to the bay in time? Otherwise there's pieces of him sitting all over the dock of the Bay! Yep I said that.
This was the doble level higway that in 1989 fell down during the earthquake?
after your videos i know,.. how it comes to the GTA games !.. awesome :-) greetings from 1timefav.blogspot.de
