+Moisés Soto Cabezas You would likely just say "Thanks, I'd like to stop here" and exit the dungeon and get your XP. You only go to the next level by saying that you want to. You are not automatically forced to go to the next level of a dungeon.
Thank you so much for this video! My dungeon roll box came in the mail today, I immediately searched for a how to play video, and found yours. After watching this 20 minute video I'm confident that I am ready to not only play this game to teach it to my friends when they come over. Great job!
So, I kind of blindly kickstarted (?) this game because of the low price and the crazy popularity. I always know that when a game gets crazy with funding, there will be a high demand for it and it will be hard to find later. I'm a Euro guy at heart but now that I've watched this video, I'm actually really excited to play this. Like Elder Sign or King of Tokyo, sometimes it is nice to have a mindless dice fest. Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much for this video, learning to play it for BGA with my son. Classic Rodney, always having fun during a video which is just fantastic! Thanks!
Almost forgot that I already subscribed to this awesome channel. The host is so excited and very detailed to teaching the game. Which is very appreciated and makes us want to play
I really love this channel. Games are VERY well explained, and the videos are really easy to watch, you can get lost in the narration and an hour passes flying by. Keep up the good work! Cheers!!!
Great game! I play this game after school with my friends and because it is so easy and fun I can teach it to them very fast and have more people to enjoy playing it with.
Excellent video, sir! I just received my copy of Dungeon Roll and currently writing a review for it for my site... and I believe I know what I'm going to embed at the end of it. Keep up the good work!
Just wanted to let you know, this tutorial video convinced me that this is an excellent game and as of today, i'm a proud owner of the said game. So thanks you very much for showing me what is out there to play with my friends :)
Hey Rodney! Great demo for the start of this new Game! I think ours should be here any day now.I'm really looking forward to playing this with my kids (12 & 6) thru out the weeks to come. Also some of your viewers noticed too that indeed your production A/V & Fantastic showman ship is only getting better my friend...I could only hope these modern day publishers & game company's can see your tremendous value in this Hobby.Cheers
THANK YOU! I bought this game along with others because it look interesting, but quite frankly, the rulebook didn't help me to understand the gameplay well. This video is awesome! All questions I had before just went "poof", the explanations were great and I am really stoked to play the game now! Again, THANK YOU!
Thanks for some really cool shows. You should probably put a warning in your videos - So far i've watched 3 of your playlists, and now I relealise that i need two more games for my collection :D. This is by far the best way of seeing how a game plays, I'll try and follow your more recent videous
I always like custom dice and these look really cool.Ii'm really looking forward to the playthrough and then i need to wait till the game is available in my gamestore.
You probably get this often enough but your videos are so well done. I just can't see myself going anywhere else for board gaming news/learning. I would love to know though, what is your personal favorite dungeon game? There are hundreds of them out there and I'm a real sucker for a good one.
Zachary Walls Thanks so much for the kind words. I really appreciate that. I talk a littler here about the question of favs: th-cam.com/video/p0Lv8LHadMc/w-d-xo.htmlm55s
***** Thank you very much for the video, although it doesn't give me real direction I can certainly understand what you mean. My very best wishes to you and don't you dare stop making these amazing videos!
Hi Rodney! Could you clarify this situation? The situation is this: At loot phase there is one party die in the Graveyard and on table are two potions. I will use a Scroll to quaff both potions. That Scroll goes to the Graveyard before it's effect takes place...right? So does it mean that I can take both dice from the Grayveyard?
@sam hiu: Indeed, the scroll die can be used to drink both potions, the scroll die "dies" and goes to the graveyard, where you can now re-animate two dice, since you have quaffed two potions. A different matter it would be if you'd used a scroll treasure marker to drink the potions (which is possible in my opinion), because then there would only be the one die in your graveyard for you to re-animate.
13:30 Can you use Spellsword as a third companion or is it just the dice? And can you use the sword treasure (used as the fighter in this case) to defeat monsters or just the dragon? Does the ring treasure even remove the dragon dice when there's 3 or more (thus awaking the dragon)? Lastly, when rolling as the dungeon master, does rolling three dragons at once mean you have to defeat the dragon AND the monsters (in that order?)? Sorry for the multitude of questions on an older video, the rules might not be as clear as they were back then!
1) I'm not entirely sure what you mean. One of his abilities does let you rotate him, and then it's like you have an extra mage or fighter die face to spend. 2) The sword treasure can be used just like a regular sword die face. 3) Yes. 4) You fight the monsters rolled first and then you deal with the dragon.
Watch It Played Thanks for the reply! Ordered the game after seeing your video + the two expansions :) Just forgot to get the tarot sleeves, so that's gonna be another order... And to my surprise I saw I wasn't subbed to your channel even though I could've sworn I was. Fixed that and resubbed :) Great video!
Are you able to use a Hero's special ability to convert treasure tokens? For example use ability mage ---> fighter on a mage token to change it to a fighter token.
Thanks so much for this video. I really wanted the game, but was really disappointed with the rule book. I found it to be hard to follow with out the visual aids. Now my pack and I are dungeon roll ready thanks again! :)
Another great explanation. I've been seeing this little game in my local shop and think I'll pick it up soon now. You're videos are all really nice, simple, and good quality; how long does it take you too shoot and edit? I'm thinking about doing some video projects over the summer and was hoping for some tips. Are you a one man operation or have a friend or two assisting with post production? Thanks for any answers!
Paul Merk I have a couple friends who do the animated intros, but everything else is me. It takes about a week per video (but it depends on the length of the video, and I'm including learning the game, scripting, shooting, editing, fixing, reediting, etc).
***** man I just really appreciate your replies to my inquiries. Thanks for producing great content and interacting with the community. Definitely a new subscriber lol.
was also wondering if you have 4 exp and kill a dragon while delving does your hero level immediately or when you go back to town? and if they level immediately and your hero was exhausted from using their ability do they auto refresh or stay exhausted. and with the occultist, if you use the ability to change skeletons into warriors do you keep the skeletons/black dice infront of you till you use them or the next regroup? or use some other counter to remember you have them, and use the black dice for the next level of the dungeon?
+Stephen Fursman You hero levels as soon as you gain the experience. You do not automatically refresh. I don't feel confident answering questions on specific hero powers.
As to the Occultist question: You'd have to immediately use those dungeon dice you turned/converted/bewitched to fight for you. If you don't, they are lost as soon as you reach phase 4 (re-grouping phase). At least in my German rule book, "Occultist" page, it reads "In der nächsten Umgruppierungsphase wird/werden diese/r abgelegt" (Discard [turned skeleton die/dice] in the next re-grouping phase).
In case that the Dungeon Lord rolls 6 dices, and 3 of them, in the same roll, are dragons. I have to fight against the dragons and if I defeat them, I have to fight the others 3 dices? And if the 3 dices are chests or/and potions? Great video, keep up with the good work. =) (PS: sorry for my bad english)
+Louis Martin Not quite, the Dragon Phase comes later in the round. You first fight the other monsters on the dice, the Loot and then the Dragon is fought. Hope that helps.
Rodney - please can you tell me; if at any time I fail to destroy monsters - like not having enough Party Dice left, though I have to end that Delve, do I lose any XP I have gained along the way? If not, does this mean I can go for a further Delve and start from Level 1 with the usual number of 7 Party Dice? Or is the game over? (I play solo by the way)
+nintendy You lose experience gained on that delve, if you fail to defeat any monsters there. That will end the current delve you are on. You always start new delves back at level 1 with a new party of 7 dice. The game doesn't end until you've played 3 delves.
+Watch It Played So what you are saying is; I only retain any XP I have gained, providing I 'opt out' of that Delve voluntarily whilst still ahead? I guess this also applies if I fail to beat the Dragon in any Delve - I also lose any XP I have gained, right? Also; if I reach a point say where I have no more Party Dice - but have nothing left to fight on any particular Level, I keep my XP and move on to the next Delve? (sorry to be a such a pain - but it’s so new to me)
+nintendy XP Completed in previous dives is not lost. We have a full play through of Dungeon Roll that you can watch as well. Check it out - it will further help you understand the rules.
Good question Mike, I shot this long enough ago that I don't remember if they ever made an official rule for that. My memory tells me you just roll the dice you have (as it's already risky enough to keep going at that point).
Also, it kinda hit me this morning... just use regular D6s if you need them, and maybe use red poker chips to keep track of the dragons. Just keep an index card noting 1=goblin, 2=ooze, 3=skeleton, 4=dragon, 5=chest, 6=loot
@@WatchItPlayed re-read the instruction booklet. Apparently, this is by design. Even if you are on level 8 with two dragons, you only roll the 5 remaining dice. I guess this makes sense because otherwise its too easy to get wiped out as your party dwindles.
hey Rodney my son and daughter love this game! is there another "solo" dungeon crawl type game that you would recommend for one person that's fast fun and easy to learn?
Hey, thanks for the interest. I tend to avoid giving personalized recommendations. What I like, someone else might not - but hopefully you see a few games on here that might be what you are looking for!
Hi Rodney, I wanted to ask a question. If I have 4 Dragon dice or even more in the Dragon's lair, I manage to defeat it, do I remove the 3 Dragon dice and do I have to keep the others that remain or are they removed? Thanks
Hi Simone, I usually do my best to answer all questions that come up, but I shot this one long enough ago I'm not sure of the answer, and don't have my copy to be able to check for you. Sorry!
Zombie Dice is a very simple press-your-luck game whereas Dungeon Roll is press-your-luck that plays like an RPG. I've found that while both are pretty easy to learn, the quickness and simplicity of Zombie Dice is better if you're playing with people who aren't usually gamers, whereas people who want more than just luck (and a bit of strategy) will definitely prefer Dungeon Roll.
If you are forced to flee the dungeon, you don't get any XP for already completed levels right? But what about other miscellaneous points you score, e.g. a successful fight against the dragon?
what happens when you roll 4 or 5 dragons? I know you fight the dragon after 3, but if you win do you return all dragon dice or just 3? also if for example you roll 4 dragons do you need 4 different heros to beat it?
+Stephen Fursman You just add them all to the dragon pool when rolled and then fight the dragon as normal, discarding all the dragon dice. Rolling extras is kind of beneficial, because it's no extra work for you to beat, and it's less monsters :)
Hmm well the game haven't really gripped me so far, looking forward to seeing it played though as it may give a very different impression from just getting rules explained.. Great video though!
thanks Rodney! For some reason the rulebook had me stumped ! Maybe it was eggnog brain!? You vid saved me. Great work!

+Moisés Soto Cabezas You would likely just say "Thanks, I'd like to stop here" and exit the dungeon and get your XP. You only go to the next level by saying that you want to. You are not automatically forced to go to the next level of a dungeon.

witch is the game where it said "our druid is screw" i am triying to find it but i do not remember the name
I'm not sure.
Do you roll 7 dice when you are on level 7 of dungeon? so would reroll a die after it is defeated
If you run out of dice, you only roll what you have.
what happens when you roll 4 or 5 dragons? I know you fight the dragon after 3, but if you win do you return all dragon dice or just 3?
also if for example you roll 4 dragons do you need 4 different heros to beat it?
+Stephen Fursman You just add them all to the dragon pool when rolled and then fight the dragon as normal, discarding all the dragon dice. Rolling extras is kind of beneficial, because it's no extra work for you to beat, and it's less monsters :)
Good video. What happens if you kill all the monsters and waste all your party dices but cannot open a chest or potion¿?
You don't have to drink potions or open chests, so it wouldn't matter if you didn't deal with those symbols.
how do you know when | if your hero becomes exhausted?
When you choose to use your ultimate ability, you exhaust your hero card by turning it on its side.
Hmm well the game haven't really gripped me so far, looking forward to seeing it played though as it may give a very different impression from just getting rules explained.. Great video though!
Great explanations! What is the name of the intro song? (Please don't say darude-sandstorm...)
Chaz creates most of the music for our series.
Well, at least when we ask "What's in the box?" we know it's something we want to see.
"...inherit the powers of invisibility". Nice :)
Great video! Thank you!
Mike Weiner You're welcome Mike!
So the first level is a freebie? The dungeon master doesnt even roll 1 dice?
You'll notice here, at level 1, I roll 1 die: th-cam.com/video/PzZ8hUzXBtE/w-d-xo.html
Looks like a funny filler for inbetween ...
Quick and fun games with friends and family
Glad you enjoyed this one David!
