I was impressed with this fabulous sport, had never even heard speak at Crossfit here in Brazil. Sensational, are to be congratulated all the athletes for the incredible physical strength and endurance!!!
I did not start exercising regularly until Jan. 2009 at 39 years old. The big 4-0 was around the corner, and I finally had the thought, "If not now, when? It certainly is not going to get any easier from here on." So I signed on to the local Y, worked off 25 lbs. over a year, then kept at eating well (no junk, no soda, very few sweets). This progressed into a desire to take things up a notch, and it turns out CF was two notches. So much the better. Thus, my loving comments re CF above.
Its just how you talk about it. You condescend something people truly put so much into. We crush ourselves on a regular basis to get to levels we have never been and few can achieve. But your right these are all athletes that might not have been TALL enough or BIG enough. Specialists dont get far in CrossFit instead its about enduring in as many ways as possible. Im just giving you a hard time.. come train anytime, on me!
I hear your point, and cross fit doesn't nail specific muscles like gym work does or bring's your cardiovascular system to new levels like running does. But I would say that cross training makes a person the best definition of "physically fit" than any other sport does- all rounders
The guy who finished second looks like a buff version of Jim from American Pie :) This looks awesome btw, the guy who won has a physique of a superhero!
I guess I should answer your question directly: Yes. In the South Bay Family YMCA program in I was in in southern San Diego, the "Team Weight Loss Challenge" consisted of six week programs of varied fitness: running, sprinting, kettle bells, circuits on the machines, push ups, etc. It was great, and it credit it for opening the door to desire for greater fitness which led me to CrossFit.
Actually, no, I cannot. I have been CrossFitting only for 4/5 months, and what is there not to love? That you feel better than you ever have? That you can do stuff that makes your friends' eyes pop out? That you can bang out a good looking physique? That you can run more, lift more, and do more than you ever thought possible? I think the nay-sayers are either not-doers or cherrypick some bad anecdotes, e.g., "I know a guy who got hurt doing back squats." Forget the hating, keep on loving.
On another note. powerlifter/bodybuilders/sprinters/endurance athletes etc. find that crossfitter somehow believe that they came up with something new or special. What they are doing is a type of decathlon or ( Pentathlon) nothing new about it . In which multiple levels of fitness are tested. it is great to watch and i am impressed by some of there fitness levels.
not even.... there are over 400 crossfit workouts and the crossfit games kinda doesn't tell you which one's they are ganna challenge you in until u get there.... so they may look fit... but they are sooo much fitter... imagin if u got events ur bad at and still have to try n win... u cant train for this sh*t cause it's so random of the events.... amazing work guys :D Sport of Gods
D1 Collegiate Wrestlers are some of the strongest/fit athletes out there. Soccer moms "Do Crossfit", i would bet the top athletes that compete here don't do the daily "wod",they train like athletes.
Keep in mind they are doing other events, like db snatch 75 pounds 50 times on each arm in something like 10 minutes. I bet most Olympic 5k runners couldn't even db snatch 50 pounds once.
I did this stuff in football practice and training and track and field, crossfit took ideas from other sports and made it's own amalgam of them. Many cross fitters act like they invented the most well rounded athlete, but its fitness based not athletic based, and a trend that gives people an identity without having to make a team to say I'm a cross fit "athlete" and special now, but I agree technique is involved, especially the Olympic lifts. Military training is also more extreme fitness.
Uh... that's kinda the point. Though top crossfitters (particularly the women) are starting to become competitive nationally and internationally in Olympic weightlifting, fwiw, and some are world-class athletes in other disciplines as well.
If you have less weight and muscle on upper body and more in lower body i think that you are in advantage because the upper body is less used than the lower after seeing the exercises
Maybe they do this in Crossfit to save energy for other exercises or they want to do core training within rope climbing ? i have no other explaination. For example: look how they do pull ups there ... they perform them in a "very special way" too :D
I find it hard to believe that a bodybuilder, who trains for aesthetics and not performance, could defeat these guys. I doubt jay Cutler could climb a rope.
Can you please state where i was "Speaking Nonsense"? have you ever trained with a Top level collegiate wrestler? They're physical specimens and most of them are tough as nails.
What exactly do you mean by "top wrestler"? If you are referring to the WWE wrestlers you are sadly mistaken. Love to have you come do some Crossfit with me and see how long you last.
MaFd0n 7 years after making this comment and I’m no closer to grasping the metric system. I agree that the US should ditch the “standard” units of measurement and adopt the metric system like the rest of the world.
Well to be more specific, the workouts didnt include rope climbing, but the point still is that many athletes from different sports could compete with these men or women,of course I respect these top crossfitters, but saying they are the "fittest" is just too much
Crossfit is just so damn expensive. 140+ a month, god damn. I just been stealing various exercises and doing them at a cheap gym. Probably not the same though :S
And i didn't knock the competition it takes a great deal of fortitude and guts, these are all great Athletes, Not because they "Train Crossfit" but because they have Great programming in their own training, so essentially they drink the Kool aid that is Crossfit but chose different flavors.
Soccer players have great cardiovascular endurance but terrible in stregnth Same for NBA players Olympians? They excel in one area that's it. ex. Powerlifters = terrible endurance. Swimmers = Poor in strength. Sprinters = Poor in strength. Crossfit is about cardiovascular AND strength endurance. Two key elements of being "fit". You're not fit if you can run 26 miles but cant deadlift or squat 100 pounds. You're not fit if you can bench 500+ or dead lift 600+ but can't run a mile.
Im pretty sure crossfit is exercise in futility. On this types of games and challenges, you don't want to train "crossfit" but calisthenics and cardio. being light and mastering your bodyweight is na huge advantae, while having great strenght and core.
please google , clean and jerk and snatch injury. it is all to common for newbies . My other beef with crossfit , is i find that alot of "crossfitter" sacrifice form for speed . This is a one way ticket to snap city. Other than that i think it is great. i just believe in training safe .
How was anything i stated irrational or non factual? This is the only Crossfit video i commented on. I actually do have an idea of "how hard this is" being i started training in one of the top powerlifting gyms in the country, and then actually trained at a cross fit affiliate box, i train in a similar fashion and am actually in great condition.my opinion is that from what i've noticed the WOD lacks efficient programming in order for it to be truly effective in a progressive manner.
Think about generally less respected sports(maybe CrossFit?) like diving, gymnastics, Ultimate Frisbee, and Lacrosse. People laugh at these sports without knowing (or even taking the time to consider) the difficulty and complexity of the sport at higher levels. The fact is that all these sports are insanely difficult and competitive. Despite their apparent ignorance, unless we look at all of those aforementioned sports with respect, we are guilty of the same prejudice.
I think CrossFit is a great way to exercise. I think task based exercise is a lot more effective than simply powerlifting or set/rep based workouts. However, I don't buy they are the fittest on Earth. I would have more respect for them if they had more humility. That being said, if there is scientific evidence that a CrossFit athlete is more fit than an olympian or a professional athlete, please show me a link. Until then, the jury is out and they are just marketing themselves as the most fit.
I was impressed with this fabulous sport, had never even heard speak at Crossfit here in Brazil. Sensational, are to be congratulated all the athletes for the incredible physical strength and endurance!!!

Yea, but these guys are doing things that any football player could only dream about. Remember, we're sitting around in our easy chair watching this.
I hear your point, and cross fit doesn't nail specific muscles like gym work does or bring's your cardiovascular system to new levels like running does. But I would say that cross training makes a person the best definition of "physically fit" than any other sport does- all rounders
Crossfit seems so fun! idk why everyone hates it, its looks refreshing to do something like that rather than just being in a gym
This was my favorite of the Games.
What a circuit! Mad respect for the competitors!!
kawasakininja13 .
The guy who finished second looks like a buff version of Jim from American Pie :) This looks awesome btw, the guy who won has a physique of a superhero!
Я смотреть устал, не то что они там бегают )))) красавчики!!!

These sleds have got to be insanely tough by the end!
This is BRUTAL!!!

Man, that was a killer workout.
Damn.......i love this guy's build. Sooo hot!
Yes i understand your perspective, i didn't comment to put down Crossfit. I actually like it myself,i' have a similar training philosophy.
15:47 ohh man I know that feeling and it is called suffering!

I'm surprised these guys are that exhausted after a 200 meter or so sprint. I guess the goal is to be good at everything.
There's a huge emphasis on lifting/strength here -I'd be surprised if they can run a respectable 10 or even 5 K
Eric don't forget this was after a load of events. I'm sure their legs are dying from all the lifts and squats
3jwebb ask Bold if he s exhausted after a 100 sprint
Special Olympics at its best. All these men are winners!
Respect
If you have less weight and muscle on upper body and more in lower body i think that you are in advantage because the upper body is less used than the lower after seeing the exercises
Very very Nice video 👍💯👍

Very very thanks Sir G
Insane. What is the song in the 11 m of the video?
Hatt off for all competitors
Now try it with 15 lbs of body armor, a pistol belt and an AR 15. The Tactical Games!
What up with the rope climb? Is more of rope swing and leg push. Please someone explain. Thank you.
Rope stepping
***** To be honest -> i did :D
Call me crazy, but there is no legs in rope climbing, unless you are lifting a backpack full of ammunition.
Maybe they do this in Crossfit to save energy for other exercises or they want to do core training within rope climbing ? i have no other explaination. For example: look how they do pull ups there ... they perform them in a "very special way" too
:D
Yep.
I find it hard to believe that a bodybuilder, who trains for aesthetics and not performance, could defeat these guys. I doubt jay Cutler could climb a rope.
What's this music in 2:00 ?

MaFd0n 7 years after making this comment and I’m no closer to grasping the metric system. I agree that the US should ditch the “standard” units of measurement and adopt the metric system like the rest of the world.
i agree with this post completely.

@Muaythai81 is on point.
What's the name of the second song?
I know is a Michael Jackson song but which one?
And i didn't knock the competition it takes a great deal of fortitude and guts, these are all great Athletes, Not because they "Train Crossfit" but because they have Great programming in their own training, so essentially they drink the Kool aid that is Crossfit but chose different flavors.
I'm a Kenyan who can do this things in an easy way!

Soccer players have great cardiovascular endurance but terrible in stregnth

Also this is an expensive sport so many people would not be able to participate. You are just the fittest person of a select group of people.
awesome
