I attended Hampshire College in nearby Amherst. Northampton though was, right away, where I enjoyed hanging out, socializing and meeting people and getting "off campus." I also took a ton of courses at Smith. After I graduated, I spent a year living here (it was either going to be Noho or P-Town 🏳️🌈) while in transition between my undergraduate and graduate studies. Northampton was much more artsy and interesting than Amherst was. Amherst is more of a "typical" college town, whereas Northampton has more diversity, is more LGBTQ+ community-oriented, and is more sophisticated. When I moved down to New Haven for grad school, I was kind of sad to leave Noho -- I'd grown QUITE fond of the community I'd formed for myself and I ❤️'d my cute little flat on Old South St. However, a daily round-trip commute of three hours would have been a bit much to do for a three-year period.

Thanks for making me think of Amherst and New Haven, I'm going to do videos of those towns!
Unfortunately, along with Amherst and Berkeley, California it was also one of the last cities to desperately cling to those ridiculous masks.
To each their own
@@ladesigner8764 Absolutely agree. To each their own. But mandates trample that. Absurd ones both trample and offend.
Depressing yuppie cringe town
My family and I just visited in 2022 and we loved it! It is very clean, beautiful and has great restaurants and shops.
