George Harliono - Beethoven Sonata no. 18 in E flat Major 'The Hunt' op 31 no 3
    / georgeharliono
    / georgeharlionopianist
    Allegro - 00:01
    Scherzo. Allegretto vivace - 06:29
    Menuetto. Moderato e grazioso - 11:55
    Presto con fuoco - 16:30
    Menuetto. Moderato e grazioso
One of Beethoven's more lighthearted and joyful works, Sonata no 18 "The Hunt". I really enjoyed recording this at the wonderful Snape Maltings!
    Enjoy 😊
The Snape Maltings Concert Hall was founded by composer Benjamin Britten and George Gooderham. It was opened in 1967 by HM Queen Elizabeth. This became the home of the Aldeburgh Festival and a venue internationally renowned for the superb quality of its acoustic. It was one of the earliest examples of an industrial building being repurposed for arts use.

When the idea of the "internet" was first conceived of and started in some college basement lab I'm positive they had no idea that it would allow so many people to experience profound beauty and artistry of this magnitude. When I used to live in San Francisco, I had to save up to buy season tickets to the orchestra to be able to see and experience anything approaching your gift - and I only got to see it once. Now, millions can enjoy the gift to the world that you are, and we can experience it again and again. Thank you Mr. Harliono, and thank you college computer basement nerds.

I started to make a mental list of adjectives to describe what I was hearing and feeling. It was getting rather long when I realised it could all be summarised in just two words: pure joy. Thanks again, George, for providing us, your "online audience", with 21 minutes of pure joy. I really hope that, one day, I may get to attend a concert that you are giving; it would be a privilege. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

This was one most of affecting recordings of this sonata, your playing is so simple yet elegant, you're not doing exaggerated interpretive things, yet it has a much deeper impact than the playing of most others. I love this particular sonata, i feel as though the public knows and loves the heroic Beethoven, the composer of the Eroica, of the fifth symphony, of the appasionata, but we forget that there is also a pastoral symphony the six which is really not heroic but very loving and very tender and very lyrical and even more unusual that we tend to forget the the sense of humor, and this sonata (as well as op 31 no 1, most encapsulates this). Beethoven can be very very funny, next to Hayden who was his teacher he is the funniest composer and you make that humour come through in this piano sonata...bravo...

    • @georgeharliono

George's parents are blessed by God for having given them such a beautiful gift, a child prodigy. They nurtured him with so much love and compassion and instilled in him and his siblings enduring values that reflect on their persona. George, you are not only a virtuoso concert pianist but a refined, humble, intellectual, and well-cultured young man. That is why people love you because of your adorable personality. May God bless you and protect you always.

I'm amazed at the ease your fingers dance on the keyboard and with such precision! You were born with musical genius, but I know it took more to make you as good as you are--support from your family, money for good teachers, your dedication and motivation, hours of practice. Your videos on the street undoubtedly made you comfortable performing publicly. I noticed the various video angles--you must have played the composition many times; the seamless merging of the camera angles--with no change in tempo--was remarkable. Thank you again! Genius.

George, very well done. You have never disappointed me with your playing, and, believe it or not, I'm a tough critic. You always live up to my expectations. Please keep providing your TH-cam and Facebook audiences wonderful beautiful interpretations of the classics. My best to you and family.
