A Clockwork Orange was released December 19, 1971. The Linda theater was in the old Linda Vista shopping center, which was demolished in 1972, so that gives a relatively narrow window of when this film was made. I also saw the Oscar's Coffee Shop at the foot of Linda Vista road. It is easier to see on the West Bound part of the film. It will be on the right, almost at the end. We had many meals there. They had car hop service where your food was brought on trays to your car, and the trays were attached to the car. We ate there after working all day at the apartments my Mom had. We would be tired and dirty, plus Mom was very tired and did not feel like cooking.

I was born at Sharp in '61, and my parents both had their medical practices there from the 50's - late 70's, and I made this drive many, many, times as a kid. I remember riding up LVR in the back of my moms' yellow Corvair wagon.
Oscar's scallops basket . . Linda Vista TV and the Safeway at 1:44 are landmarks for me . . Also Jack in the Box @1:50.

@@SeattleBoatdog I was also born at Sharp. 1954. I liked the Corvair wagons. They looked like very convenient cars and had a nice style. My Mom had a 1958 Chevy wagon, and it was the work horse for the apartments. and occasionally hauling the Cub Scout group my brother was in. I liked going to Thrifty's Drug Store in LV. It had a wooden floor, which I like, and my mom would give me a nickel for an ice cream cone.

Alot has changed since 1971. My daughter was born that year and we were living in Linda Vista. Lived there for almost 35 years.

I was born at Sharps in 1959. My grandmother's house was across the street from the Jack in the Box. It was a duplex. There are still a few around, but they look way different from remodeling. I remember the neighborhood was safe enough that my parents would let us run around and have no worries back in the sixties.

We, Serra Mesans, walked through the SM Little League Fields and up past The Palisades Apts down Mesa College Dr to Kearny. Mission Villagers walked 1 to 2 miles further. Hitchhiked to and from Pacific Beach, south of The Pier all Summer, till we got our clunkers. Then we stuffed our friends in, sardine style. Spare change for gas? I remember scratching up 50 cents and putting in almost 2 gallons. Those were great times

You can see the air raid siren just before the Texaco station after 7-11. I remember hearing that when I was really little.

Awesome film! I remember the brownish and white van seen at 3:33 in the Kearny High parking lot and the Chevelle at 4:53. Lots of Pintos and VW's. Gas for .35 cents! Speaking of something you never see anymore, the guy "Thumbing a ride" at 4:29. "Mickey's Big Mouth" billboard. Based on "A Clockwork Orange" playing at "The Linda" and the gas prices, this must've been filmed sometime in '73 before the Oil Crisis hit in October.

@@sandiegocityclerk9598 Can you tell us what equipment was used to film these? Its apparent it was somehow connected to the odometer on the car so every few feet it took another photo. The meter is very faint in this one but you can see it clearly in some of them.

I bet that Bill's Burger at 1:35 had seriously good food. Back then, even small places had better food than most big places now. You didn't have so many pre-made options so most food was fresher and made from scratch. These days, its hard to find a burger that isn't made with a frozen pre-packed patty.
