    7:19 Not a ringing endorsement of CanAm build quality. You'll rip off half the dash just trying to get to the 12V power outlet.

      Why I just bought a Yamaha. The Japanese, in my experience since the 80’s are superior in build quality generally

      Yah that doesn't look great. I need to look at my defenders but they don't have that much flex in that spot. I wonder if a screw or push pin is missing on this one. I prefer the ride, power, and comfort of my Can-Ams over any japanese brands. Plus I have two defenders with 13500 miles and the only thing done to them is some clutch work. I really do like the Yamahas I just wish they would stick the 850 twin in the viking and add some ground clearance, adjustable steering wheel and seat. Then they would have a winner.

      @@josephwhiskeybeale I've had mine for quite some time with no issues!! All the Polaris Rangers I've been around have really disappointed. The motors are prone to blow apart and if you back up in turf mode the transmissions case cracks open. The Japanese brands are ok but underpowered tremendously. I will hang with my Can Am thanks!

      @@josephwhiskeybeale I guess I don't know what I was doing when I purchased my 2017 Defender! Actually it turned out to be a very nice Machine, and I NEVER had ANY issues with it. I sold it to get the Sport Canam, and it Too has never had an issue. I have seen Canam defenders and MAVERICK SPORT machines that have over 6000 miles, and still running well.

    You know what would be cool? Get a 4x8 foot camper and slide it on on the back. Even better (though we're creeping up in cost here) is a track kit and a camper. Ultimate backcountry ski basecamp. I guess you could always just put the same camper on a sled and tow it in. What I guess I'm saying is that I like skiing and I like being comfortable and It would be cool to have both.

    can-am ATV's and UTV's are assembled in Mexico - I believe. Bombardier started building trains and plains in Mexico and then BRP spun off and continued with Rotax motors as well. Rotax also tried making/assembling motorcycle engines in Taïwan with some spotty results I think.

  • @PatrickRich
    @PatrickRich 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    One thing I don't like about the 6x6 (we have a 6x6 big boss 500) is the fact that it's damn near useless in 4 wheel drive because the ground pressure of 4 big tires under an empty bed is pretty low and so is traction. It's only really used if you don't have a load and you don't need a lot of traction. the 6x6 traction advantage is real though, I can pull out a 1500 lbs boat pretty easily our of some very deep fine sand and it works pretty well in the snow so long as its no deeper than the diff since it won't float and gets high centered on that long chassis pretty easy. I have no doubts about its ability to haul 1700 lbs; We can overload ours to the moon and it still handles fine and goes. The only thing I don't like about their 6x6 system is their hilliard clutch front hubs which are a little finicky and don't like to engage in the cold.

      There are already people adding camper shells or even small slide in campers to these. The payload rating is very conservative, more so if you fit a set of aftermarket springs. They are also being fitted out as brush fire and backwoods rescue rigs, which they are perfect for. Where most machines can only handle 50 gallons of water on board these can handle much more and even tow a full water tote on a trailer behind.

    I get it ( before I get pounced upon), but this sticks with me. The fact that the Can-Am can (is rated to...), carry 300lbs more than my F150 makes no sense (I know it’s not towing at x speed up a grade in y degrees when the moon is in z etc), but the other day watching another video from the Uk where the new HiLux is rated to carry 1200kg and the Ranger is rated for 1280kg! What is up with capacity ratings in the US? If @ford just rated their Ranger over here to match the European rating (rest of World rating), they’d win hands down with buyers wanting to carry a load?
    Can you guys do a video which explains all this please and makes some sense of these figures for us layman.
    Keep up the great work. Happy Christmas to all

    Am I the only one who thinks the pro is the better work horse? The 6x6 seems more like a toy. The pro has the same large bed and extra storage as its built on the 6 seater frame but with no rear seat

    • @CANAMOFFROAD
      @CANAMOFFROAD 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Small correction, PRO is built on the Defender MAX frame. (The space for the under-bed storage comes from where the rear passenger footwell would have been.) Both "toys" will carry a payload of 1,700 lbs but the 6x6 will tow 500 lbs more - 3,000 lbs. vs 2,500 on the PRO.

    • @CANAMOFFROAD
      @CANAMOFFROAD 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@james2042 When you look at everyday loads for the type of use the Defender is designed for off-road, typically you're right--not many are hauling 2,000-lb loads daily. It's the maybe more frequent 400-1,000-lb loads over challenging terrain or through greasy / muddy conditions where that extra capability really helps to get the job done & feel confident doing it.
