@Jay Zee *That attitude* is not helpful to XG. They trained in Korea, they use K-pop writers and producers, they promote on Korean media, and they were created by a second generation K-pop idol. As a Japanese person I would hate for people to get the impression that these girls are happy to exploit the K-pop infrastructure when it suits them, but don't feel enough genuine affinity to proudly acknowledge their genesis in K-pop. It's perfectly appropriate for you to be proud of Japanese girls doing well in K-pop, but it is wrong to try to expropriate them on behalf of J-pop. There's no shame in J-pop not being as internationally popular as K-pop-J-pop isn't designed for export, the domestic market is plenty big enough to support the J-pop industry. If you want to properly support XG, be thankful to the K-pop fans and media who have adopted them and helped them make it big.
Why is it that until now there are still people debating the identity of XG, to be honest I don't care what group XG is categorized as because it's doesn't matter, it's clear that they call their identity a global girl group and once again it's doesn't matter because I just want to enjoy music from XG because music is universal no matter what language they choose to use.
