With all the vandalism going on in places like the abbey cemeteries keep them locked. If you contact the caretaker and show them what you do, they may let you in. Or maybe not due to privacy concerns for those still living but already, like myself, have their name on their crypt
I agree. This would probably be the best way to go about it. The caretaker might also know of some interesting plots with lovely stone work and maybe some interesting stories. I'll bet it's like finding the vicar of a church and getting a history of the building and original parishioners.
Chris, I've come across the disappointment of a locked mausoleum myself, and l went and spoke to the management and was allowed to enter the sanctum by means of a key, they looked at my I.D. and permitted my visit. A bit of a hassle, but worth it.👍
You made a REALLY GOOD POINT Chris. My husband and I just paid off our Cemetery Plots last week, and they were $9000. Haven't even looked at having a Headstone Placed yet!!!! Probably looking at over $5000. So yeah, for those who can afford a Mausoleum, I say KUDOS, but MANY, and I do mean MANY, are opting for Cremation, or something NOT TOO FANCY, because FANCY COSTS!!!!
Chris if you go during the week or on a Saturday, if there is an office on the grounds or find a grounds keeper and find out if you can go into the Abbey
Come to Charleston, SC because we've got some amazing graveyards on the peninsula. Not to be confused with a cemetery though. And some hauntingly beautiful burial sites right about the low country area.
Hi a very nice cemetery ! Beautiful monuments ! Mccolm mausoleum has a great door ,stained glass is always very beautiful ! Thanks again for all your great vlogs ! Take care ! Deborah 🇨🇦
Woodmere Abbey is always closed because the last interment there was like in the 1950s or 60s. Most of the close relatives of those folks are long gone. You have to go to the office and ask for the key to the mausoleum. My great-great granddad was laid to rest there back in 1944.
Glad we could share your Woodmere Abbey disappointment together! 😊 Lots of great advice here on gaining entrance in the future. We’ll be with you then, too!
Unique door on the McColm mausoleum. You got one of the better views of the inside with the stained glass window. Interesting about Mr. C. Lipton. I saw Band of Brothers and thought it was very well done, but it's been a long time. It's on my to-do list to watch it again. Thanks for the tour.
That really is a beautiful cemetery. How old is the mausoleum? It looks refreshingly old and the architecture fits well with the cemetery. Not a fan of modern ones.
here in central Illinois my relative is in a mausoleum. supposedly each family has a key...but the front office has keys. call ahead and ask....explain your channel. I know I have to give my relative's name.
You gotta figure the mausoleum is very expensive to build and will probably only get visited for the present relatives and as time passes will get less and less until no one visits so kind of a waste of money especially in today's economy
Most of my family are buried at Woodmere. The office is on Rt 60. If you want I can get you the phone number. I have been let in a couple times. I have family that have been buried there since 1955 and My Mom and Dad are buried there also.
What we have chosen to do……we bought a beautiful palm tree that has 3 trees in it. (The Father.. The Son.. & The Holly Ghost). We R going to B cremated and our ashes put in the center with our cremated dogs that shared our life’s! We will b on our property forever until the lord returns! 🤷♀️
My parents, my brother, & his wife are buried there. I haven't been back for 15 years. Thanks.
Woodland cemetery in ironton ohio is fantastic! Beautiful stones, wonderful history and great ghost stories
Woodland is definitely beautiful . I love to visit the Russian ballerina spot. Definitely worth a visit

I like Walter's suggestion to contact the caretaker and at least inquire about it. I'm curious to know who is in there. 🙂
loved the Band of Brothers my son and I went to their training center at Camp Taccoa Georgia

Liked the Video. I’m going to film a certain grave there soon based on a local tragic news story. Your video was good 👍
Add Greenlawn in Columbus OH. The Abbey has Tiffany stained glass. It is open to the public.
Tiffany windows!?!? 👌 WOW!!
I can't wait to live in a beautiful cemetery.
F.C. McColm owned one of the biggest granite companies in the US.
West virgina its nice to all the states and see more beautiful graves and famous graves too. Thank you and will be looking forward to your next one.
Have you tried calling ahead to the cemetery association, groundskeepers, or local funeral homes to gain entrance to the Abbey?
Great bits of history!
Thank You Chris Glad To Walk With You In The Video Appears To Be A Lonesome Cemetery But It Was Nice Also. Keep In Touch 😉
Love it
A great video thank you a beautiful cemetery
Chris if you go during the week or on a Saturday, if there is an office on the grounds or find a grounds keeper and find out if you can go into the Abbey

My paternal grandparents and my great-grandmother are buried in Woodmere.

Dagmar was a beautiful woman❤

I have watched it three times and know I could watch it again. What an Amazing group of men they were!!!!!
@@philknerr4587 Agreed!
There’s a mausoleum in the cemetery uptown Taylorsville,NC and the name is Hinshaw
"Woodmere Abby, you disappointed me again." I think a song could be written with those words.
That really is a beautiful cemetery. How old is the mausoleum? It looks refreshingly old and the architecture fits well with the cemetery. Not a fan of modern ones.
👍👍👌👌✌✌⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I was told by someone that has family in there that only family has a key to it.
What a shame family's dont take care of their stones. You would think the cemetery would clean them
Cant leave anything here unlocked.

My grandmother is buried there ..
Savannah cemetery and Macon cemetery
Is it possible to check with the cemetery caretaker for access??
Probably the expense of these mausoleums keeps people from doing them.
You gotta figure the mausoleum is very expensive to build and will probably only get visited for the present relatives and as time passes will get less and less until no one visits so kind of a waste of money especially in today's economy
I agree with the other comments. You probably have to ask for permission. And maybe they will let you in. Maybe not! Good luck next time! 😃
Isn't Dagmar a style of bumper?
One of the streets where I grew up was named Dagmar

Call ahead before you go. They may let you in then, but not vedio it.
I’ve walked around that place really late at night in a pair of really short booty shorts on at night
Someday that masoleum will be open for you. Don't lose hope.
👍💯🪦🤜🤛🤝👏
Probably vandalism has forced them to keep the doors locked. Sadly there is definitely a lack of respect for the dead by far too many.
