Actually i never would choose knitting over crochet which was created during Egyptian times when Cleopatra's ladies created fine lace with a hooked implement later called a crochet hook by the Frenchbecause the word crochet means 'to hook' Knitting came along much later in the dark ages of Europe, in Ireland and Scotland where their women could eatn money making warm woolen clothing to keep their families and affluent families as well since they could afford to pay for such services rather than learn a menial task like spinning wool from farm animals, sheep and even goats at times and then card and hand dye the often dirty wool sheared from the animals... hand dyed with plants and fruits grown on the farms
