- Malgudi Days - मालगुडी डेज - Episode 53 - The Hoard - महाकंजूस
Gopinath is the village miser who cares more about money than his own family. He never spends a rupee when he doesn’t have to. One day in an indulgent mood he decides to take his grandson to see a movie and won’t spend money on sweets, telling the boy they are not good for him. While Gopinath finds the movie entertaining, the boy is bored and finally sneaks out of the theater and sets off to meet his friends to play cricket. Gopinath eventually realizes the boy is missing and goes in search of him. Suddenly his money is of no benefit, as he searches fruitlessly for the boy. He buys a packet of sweets for the boy, and even pays homage to the gods, promising to offer a whole coconut if the boy is found. When darkness falls, he makes his way back to his daughter’s house, and struggles to find the words to explain the situation to her.

I saw Malgudi days in my childhood, I am watching it again when I am 21, I will even watch it in my old age..These videos show our Old India, Old roads,Old talkies, post office, their beautiful home, the way they used to live and culture.. so watching them give me a different feeling, I get teary.. as this beautiful time is gone..

I was a school going kid when this used to be telecasted on Doordarshan. When news used to be news and not propaganda. And on top of it Doordarshan use to telecast such heart warming serials. Life was simple as Malgudi days. This serial taught me one thing that happiness lies in simplicity. No matter how sophisticated and rich life you live, you can get happiness only through humble events in your life.
The songs used to eco in my head throughout the day and I just could not stop myself from wandering in Malgudi.
Malgudi days.... Those days were the golden days of mine. Can't express those time I have spent in words.

mera favrute tha aur ajj v he...bachpan me ishliye dekhta tha kyuki comedy typ se har ek baat lesson dene wala lagta tha......jab matured hui tab yeh laga jiss tv serial ko dekh kar me behad khush ho jata tha darashal usme behad practical batein v rehti thi jo me uss samay samajh nhi paya....bahut dino se baat kar rha tha ki malgudi days jesa serial ab nhi bante....ajj youtube me dekhkar mera yaad sakar hua
I remember this used to play in Sony tv every Friday. As I hail from a cold place. We used to finish our dinner very quickly and used to sit to watch this. It's so nostalgic, this series was so addictive and after seeing Malgudi days I experienced the real Tamil Nadu and guess what I'm married to a South Indian and settled in madras. Same kind of houses are still available and my husband's grandfather own a house like that. Typical Tamil house.
Shankar nag who directed this malgudi days. I m one of the biggest fan of Shankar nag sir, I really missing him RIP.
