I know you are a lyricist, so I wish to offer some more insight into the lyrics of this song. The verse "You deserve someone better than me and be happy" is immediately followed by "but, not so much that you forget about me". This is sung by one voice( Jisoo first, then Rose) and not broken up( as suggested by the lyric video). When the girls sing "yeah, yeah yeah yeah" the airy whispering voice is repeating "You will forget me". Hope this helps add to your enjoyment of this profoundly sad song.

A love song that was written from the point of view of the heartbreaker… 😢 I love how this is a song of acceptance and admittance of fault. But also of hope. Learning from your mistakes and learning that not all things will end up the way we want, but still hope for the best for everyone. One of Blackpink’s best and underrated tracks.

I'll forgive you for fanboying over Rose' while ignoring Jisoo's amazing vocals, but only because we all have our preferences and that's fine. ;) It is rare to hear a song that says "It was my fault, I lost someone great, I hope you find someone better and are happy." We need more songs that explore all the different sides of relationships. Great reaction.
Also because I do not think he has seen any of Jisoo's solos like Yuki No Hana, How Can I Love the Heartbreak, Clarity, Habits, etc. He is missing out.

Hope Not was written by BlackPink's producer Teddy Park and Masta Wu (Woo Jin-won ). It doesn't matter that they didn't write it, great interpretation is just as important. An extra note here is Lisa's singing on this track...Because she raps so well, her vocal style is frequently under rated or overlooked. Of course, it goes without saying, they all sing so beautifully and blend together so well.
I may be wrong about this but if I am I'm sure somebody will correct me. I think Jennie wrote at least part of this song and it meant something to her so much so that during one of their concerts Jennie started crying when she tried to sing her part. The audience took it up for her, that brought tears to my eyes.
