  • RHODES | Discover the magic of the island of Rhodes! Complete guide 2023!
    LINDOS
Magnificent Lindos is famous for its Acropolis, the village is disarmingly beautiful with white houses with blue windows, narrow streets that shelter from the sun and typical little stores that are impossible to resist!
Lindos is located in the southern part of the island and is surrounded by beautiful beaches, impossible not to be enticed to stop and take a dip in the crystal clear waters!
To get to the Acropolis you have two ways, the first is the classic walk up, a small walk will take you to the entrance, while the second option is to rent a donkey that will take you to the top! Personally I prefer the first option but for older people given also the high temperatures, the second choice can sometimes prove to be the most advantageous.
admission during my last visit cost 12€ but there are discounts of up to 50% for the over 65s!
Once you arrive in the Acropolis, the view will be spectacular and you can take your photos with the background of some columns of the temples typical of that era.
    VALLEY OF BUTTERFLIES
The Valley of the Butterflies is located in the north of the island just 30 kilometers from the town of Rhodes, it is so named because of the incredible amount of butterflies found along the valley of the Pelecano River.
This river feeds small streams that form small waterfalls and boreholes, where the special microclimate created is the ideal habitat for the proliferation of Callimorpha Quadripunctaria, also known as the Spanish Flagpole given its color, and is especially attracted to a particular resin found in this area.
The best time to see this multitude of Butterflies is between mid-June and mid-September, and I can assure you that the show is assured. Paying only 5€ you can witness this unique show, the butterflies cover everything, at first you will think it is just a different wood but once you understand and spot the butterflies, you will notice that everything is covered with them.
    KAMIROS
The archaeological site of Kamiros is a must-visit, it is one of the most important settlements on the entire Island.
Excavations were started in the 19th century and are still going on bringing to light more and more finds.
This town suffered a decline in 226 B.C. when a devastating earthquake razed it to the ground, many were the victims, but the surviving inhabitants tried hard to rebuild it and return to their former life.
As fate would have it, however, a little more than a hundred years later, another violent tremor again razed everything to the ground, and from that moment on the abatement was final.
During the tour costing about 6€, you can still admire all the perimeters of the houses, in fact all the roofs collapsed in the earthquake and those left standing collapsed over time, and in addition to this you can admire the sewer system.
    FALIRAKI
Perhaps the most touristy place in Rhodes, not so much for the beauty of the place but for the presence of hotels, bathing establishments and nightlife venues.
Perhaps inaccurately referred to as the Las Vegas of Rhodes, but it is not even comparable to the U.S. metropolis, despite the presence of hotels and entertainment, the town itself is very small and still not the most expensive area on the island.
Faliraki Beach is one of the best-known beaches in Rhodes, also frequented by families since it generally has calm sea and shallow waters; the sandy beach is also somewhat suitable for everyone.
Not far from Faliraki we will also find a little gem, Anthony Quinn Bay!
    RHODES
Rhodes is the island's main town, an ancient city that still preserves its defensive walls in excellent condition!
The town is divided between new town and old town.
The old town is a real gem to explore and is located right by the sea. Most tourists are let in right through the main gate that leads onto the beautiful Simi Square where we can admire the ruins of a temple!
Once inside, small streets will lead you from one side to the other accompanying you with plenty of stores and restaurants that will ensure a pleasant walk.

@@MDFtravel... assomiglia in parte a Mykonos

"tuffarvi a mare"... Forse è meglio un ripassino di grammatica...
