    North Face is actually a reference to the north face of half dome in Yosemite. The brand was started by Douglas Tompkins in 1968, who happened to be friends with Yvon Chouinard (the founder of Patagonia). The brand name and logo for The North Face, have nothing to do with Mt. Everest.

    • @seaggs
      @seaggs  ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I thought that too but I looked it up and on their website they say it’s Everest

    • @nattymatt
      @nattymatt ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@seaggs I wasn't able to find anything referencing Everest on their site, but I did find this on their About Us page under Our History/Our Journey. 1980-1989 "Wherever it shows up, our iconic Half Dome logo is a reminder to celebrate where you’ve been and get inspired by what lies ahead."
      I'm sure references to Everest are embeded in the brand, but the logo and name actually refer to Half Dome.
      I should also say I do like your videos, but one bit of information is incorrect.

      @@nattymatt dude, you got real petty here. If you go to their "Our Story" page, the FIRST line, you will see that they in fact state what they are named after. To manage a brand, attention to detail is key. "We are named for the coldest, most unforgiving side of a mountain. We have helped explorers reach the most unfathomable heights of the Himalayas."

    • @nattymatt
      @nattymatt ปีที่แล้ว

    This is a common misconception, but Elon Musk didn't come up with the name of Tesla or even found the company. It was Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning who founded and came up with the name. Elon Musk bought an ownership stake of $6.5 million back in 2004 and he slowly got more ownership overtime as he became the company's largest investor.
