Ya, when you are in a sport or a profession you get feedback all the time. It's a little harder when you're at home, you don't get the kudos when you do a good job, etc. Congrats to you for working so hard to make it work. Seeing how the kids do as adults with the strength you showed them is going to be your pay off!
Irony is this advert popping up after listening to "The Thinking Atheist" podcast. Gotta wonder how Google manages these things to get it so horribly wrong.
"Why do you need to show us that?" We are trying to do away with the old stereotypes people have about Mormons, 'Polygamists, Devil worshipers, Uptight Business men (or Bums, depending on who you ask), or people completely completely obsessed with the B.O.M. (Book Of Mormon). "you make yourself even more weird by trying to do that." People consider us weird either way, so what's the real harm in stating that we are Mormon, I am a Mormon, and I'm proud to Say it every day, or every other day.
My Dad was a mormon so I don't think mormons are different or odd - I did read the Book of Mormon though, and it's pretty weird stuff - no weirder to me than any other religious text however, they all seem bonkers to me, so if you have to believe in some made up woo woo, then might as well be something written 200 years ago instead of 2000 as it's all much the same anyway, and they are at least peaceful & have the good sense to change with the times. Ultimately his faith didn't help him fix the problems in his life - despite his faith he never recovered from his personal psychological demons - so yeah, at least based on my experiences being a Mormon doesn't fix anything - look for answers elsewhere.
