The fact that Avril wrote this song at age 14 speaks a lot how talented she is. I’ve always felt that this song is definitely her story. She really came from a small town in Canada & this was her big break to the music industry. Kelly sang tgis song really well but after hearing this version, I felt Avril’s emotion more. The rawness, her anxiety, her excitement transitioning to a bigger world ahead of her. How I wished she recorded this & included in her debut album.
According to what ive been told she was forced to scrap this song by her record label cause it didnt fit the album, but regardless both songs you can tell come from her heart, my world too
@@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess It sounded too "pop" for her debut album which was pop-punk is what I think happened and Avril's label decided it would not fit.

Always great to see photos of Avril in the 90s. It always makes you wonder how these singers who defined an era in our culture had also lived through eras we associated with other older artists.
Her enunciation is SO much clearer than Clarkson's. There are a couple of lines I've been singing wrong all these years. :) Neat to see the change from "snow" to "rain" when it went from a Canadian to a Texan!
@Aabruh Of course it's more polished -- Clarkson did a full recording, and Lavigne did a demo. Clarkson also has a stronger voice. That doesn't change my point about the enunciation.
Both versions are beautiful!! Avril has better enunciation and Kelly has the stronger vocals needed for the song. I love the story behind the song tho ❤
I actually want "Let Go (Avril's Version) (From the Vault)" so she can record music that she gave to other artists. Like Taylor Swift gave Babe to Sugarland and Better Man to Little Big Town, but now she recorded it again on her version of the album. SO GOOD! Just found out she wrote it. :o
She performed at live at her head above water 2019 tour in Detroit MI for the first time. I recored it was amazing I wish I could go back in time and see her in concert again

I can say that although she wrote the song and sing demo. Kelly Clarkson vocal range fit perfectly for this song. This is not avril style that we hear on Let Go album.
The vibe of this song in her own voice and Kelly Clarkson's voice is a million times different. This is pure, innocent and real; Kelly Clarkson's is commercialized.
It's odd, like how now that I know she wrote it im like, yeah it's totally an Avril song. Same way when I find out with any singer/songwriter finding out who wrote it like Manic Monday by the Bangles and Nothing Compares by Sinead Oconner both being written by Prince... It took me almost 20years to realise that Breakaway was written by Avril Lavigne. Personally I think Avril made a good choice that she sold this song to Kelly bcoz the vibe and music is totally different from her "Let go" album. Imagine that she recorded this song into her album at that time, this song will gonna be a b-side song and people would not bother to listen, then this song gonna be forgotten and not popular until now.
