I was listening to Daughters os Spotify, and suddenly this just started playing... What a fun way to discover such fun music.
I learned of Daughters through Street Sects!

i'd say he most liked it because it was so obscure and different than anything he's hearing most of these days
I don't think it sounds like that from what he said about it, he gave some criticisms. I think what made it sound like that was just how excited he was since it's a debut record.
Injury reserve is a good group and Floss is probably un the top 3 hip hop albums of the year

I was under the impression one of the band members did the art. Their merch table had some very indie pressed comic issues, and the impression I got is it's somewhat of a concept band and all the stuff exists in a fiction which ties to a traditional comic narrative as well, and that one of the members was doing all that stuff (I'd assume the vocalist since, lyrics and stuff).
every single snare hit on this album feels like taking a bullet to the skull. I felt like I witnessed a murder after listening to this.

This record is amazing. Very impressive that they managed to create music this abrasive and cacophonous, while still having actual songs. Good shit.
I don't think they sidestep goth, I think they capture real goth. The idea of gothic culture has been so watered down, this is and (I'm glad you mentioned them) wreck and reference and others in this same style capture goth shit

If the setup is they're gonna kill the mother/child then themselves, the reversed shadow makes a lot of artistic sense. The lyricism is all bleak as shit so I'm sure that's the point lmao.

well i know they are fans of xiu xiu, so there'd definitely be their influence somewhere in this album. not so much the vocals. more so the lyrics maybe, but i mostly heard xiu xiu through some of the chaotic sounding instrumentals

ive listened to it a couple times and i like it, but damn it gives me a headache, i thought i should listen to it loud like i do with death grips but i soon realized i need to listen to this with the volume down, else I may whither in the darkest of corners

This is exactly the kind of music I've been looking for for a while. Does anyone know any other bands that sound like this?
Skinny Puppy, Mentallo & The Fixer, Front Line Assembly, try to look for old-school "electro-industrial". Check out these bands earlier 80's and 90's stuff.
I saw SS with Daughters, and the next Daughters show they had HIDE supporting them. They're definitely more minimal and abrasive but if you want more pessimistic industrial/electronic music, try them.
This is sorta unique, but check out The Body, and also Uniform
Wreck and Reference is easily the flensers best artist in my opinion.

I had yet to see this video until today, but I've been listening to this album since last Thursday just non-stop. It is definitely not what you would define as "my style", but holy shit do I love this album. My favorite track by far, is "Our Lesions". It's just insane, and then halfway through the track, just breaks down, only to build back up again. I didn't know I could love so much noise.

But he put all of the singles that came out before the album in the meh section of weekly track roundups so i don't think he was very interested in The Kicking Mule, which is a shame, cause it's fucking incredible
