I have so much respect for small business owners. It takes a lot of courage to leave the security of a stable paycheck in pursuit of a dream. Imagine going from a woodworking shed to a sprawling shop full of Ferraris, Lambos, etc....in the course of 12 years! Congratulations on all your success - both the shop and the channel.

A great "documentary" that was bound to happen to satisfy the fans, and this is the place where it had to be launched.

Man what makes or breaks a small business is the people you work with. David is lucky to have such a supporting wife who shares his vision and has put in A LOT of time/effort/sweat into it. Also shout out to Crazy D, David's front office manager. That's the guy you talk to when you call Omega or walk in the door, having somebody with great people skills in that role can make/break a small business.

Very cool to learn of the history; it surprised me how _recent_ it all is. 2011 seems like yesterday to me. I'm glad you stuck through the harder times because what a success story this has become. Even if the TH-cam thing ended tomorrow, Omega's reputation is _International_ now, and there will always be people happy to send their vehicles. The other great thing is that by proxy, it's helped SO many people make wiser decisions, and maybe restored some faith too that there _are_ honest mechanics out there. I hope you both have many more years of success.

Great story Mrs. Wizard.. Reminds me so much of when my wife, who also was a school teacher, and myself when I started my Construction Company. Thank goodness I already had a great reputation as a craftsman for fine interior carpentry working 2 years for the largest homebuilder in N.E. Ga. Sad thing was he was a real hateful tyrant. So I finally had enough and refused to be treated like his foot stool. So I went out on a limb and opened TBS Custom Homebuilders & Fine Interior Carpentry. Thank the LORD it was a huge hit. It was crazy trying to keep up with all the business that just kept pouring in. We like you guys are truly Blessed.. Carry on guys ! Love the channels.. HooAH !

Hello Mrs Wizard, I'm enjoying your channel. Never miss one of your videos, or the Wizards. I'm a retired nurse so it may be odd that I enjoy car videos, but I like to learn about how things work and knowledge leads to better understanding and communication. That's particularly helpful for dealing with my mechanic (who, like David is very competent and honest) I now understand what my mechanic is talking about. Not that I ever have any problems. I drive a Toyota. We know somebody who likes Toyota. Had my Avalon for 17 years now and other than the routine maintenance I've had no problems. I understand how dedicated you have to be to open a small business. My spouse and I had a small antique and collectibles shop on our property, plus five mall booths, and ebay. That was in the mid 90's. Like you I continued to work full time throughout so we could eat while growing our business. Keep up the good work. I never miss a video.

I feel your pain with the start up. I've run several small businesses over the years, some successful and some where I've had to wonder from one week to the next how I would make payroll. Got my own car and machine shop at home to service my own stuff, no interest in trying to take in other people's problems as I have enough of my own with a fleet of over 15 vehicles. And I don't have a Hoovie in the neighborhood to serve as the basis for covering the overhead if I expanded.
Congratulations on making your deal work and on serving customers the way they should be treated.

Thank you for telling this story. I have often wondered how you all got your start. I am an American Expat living in Thailand, and have found the Wizard's advice invaluable even here. I had an opportunity to buy a Juke. When I saw his video on yours, I decided not to buy one. It was the right choice since they quickly stopped selling them. Even here, Toyota is the way to go. I look forward to seeing what goes on with not only the bus, but Omega as well.

Thanks for that , I think I kind of had an idea of some of that but getting it all in one place was great. Also so glad you didn't try to get rid of the birth mark, one of my friends daughter had one on her shoulder and she was convinced to have it removed. Unfortunately the Dr. botched it badly and in stead of an ignorable birth mark she was very badly scared. That lead to missing some skin cancer that didn't get caught until it was stage 4.

    We love these background stories!
It shows us a lot about who you were and are!
But...perspective about what we get from people like (but not just) you.
    The Wiz and the Scotty!
Two different styles of presentations...from two different generations...two very successful mechanics...with VERY different kinds of shops. And one hands on Mrs. you!
And one hands off Mrs...who I'm pretty sure was a teacher too!
    But, there's a common thread.
Both Wizard and Scotty want to give information to their viewers that save them aggravation and especially money.
So hats off to both! Now more than ever, the "car public" needs you!

Hard to imagine it's been 5 years in the big shop, seems like far less. I think the vast indoor space is comforting to the customers with special cars, especially the owners of the expensive and exotic cars who doubtless really like the space around their car because it just looks exclusive, like a specialist shop, and feels safer than having it stuffed into a small slot between other cars. It was a great move for many reasons.

I've been watching since day one of this channel and I've immensely enjoyed it. Straight out of high school from 2004-2006I worked at a small European Car repair shop in Ohio and seeing your shop and many of the antics there brings back great memories.

I think one of the keys to running your own business is when and how to say no to business. That comes with experience and having a kevel head. When a business first starts out, you have to be careful of taking on too much work while you are worried about making payroll and mortgage/rent for the week.
