Do you have any idea what Samoans were doing to each before Christianity arrived? Samoans were constantly at war with each other, even committing atrocities - beheading, throwing women and children into pits of fires, tying foesdown to the ground in the sun and ripping off their skins to die a slow and painful death; chiefs threatening to kill anyone that does not worship demons, etc. Some of these atrocities were witnessed by the first missionaries that arrived when Malietoa and his allies waged war against A’ana. Please, learn more before you criticize. There are other stuff great about the culture and history that are in harmony with Christian principles, but don’t act like it was a perfect society before Christianity arrived.

I used to believe that our culture was tainted by the Word of God in the form of the Holy Bible.
Now I believe in the story of Mercy through God's Son, Jesus Christ.
I don't know if it happened the way it is described to us.
I just believe that the sacrifice that was made according to the Bible, is one of the most beautiful ever told.
That's just a personal belief, though. I don't speak for anyone else.
I guess we will find out someday.
    Love your content, uso.
    Peace.

Malo le soifua Le Mea-Uli Samoa. Just a question, do you believe in the God of the bible? This ‘book’ you refer to, that the missionaries brought to Samoa in the 1800s. Do you really think Samoans or Samoa is oppressed till this day because of this book or the Christian beliefs that Palagis brought to Samoa? I don’t know how much of the bible you’ve read, but the Bible is the Word of God and it will preached in all the world. The problem is not with bible, but people who have harden their hearts to receive the word of God!! In the book of John14:6, Jesus says ‘I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me.’ Christianity is not about culture. It’s about a relationship with a loving God, a Father who in John 3:16 the bible says - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.’ This is good news and not oppressing at all! Ma le fa’aaloalo lava. 🙏

But we lost a lot of our aganu’u due to Christianity & colonialism.

@@L3a98 Uso, with all respect, our aganu’u is not gonna save us from the wrath of God. And that goes for all cultures. I encourage you to look to Jesus, the answer to all life’s problems! He’s the answer for Samoa and all the world! Bless you uso and thanks for your comment! 🙏

Malo lava Uso.. Nice Video.. I have an opinion with regards to our culture and the culture of the missionaries who came to Samoa .. our way of living was never wrong and it will never be.. because before the arrival of the missionaries values of the life of Jesus had already been practice by our people especially our faasamoa.. our faasamoa had it's stable foundation and bases on love.. so I believe our way of living was already firm on God.. it's just that we have a different name to our God tagaloa then of the Christian.
