So what I have gathered is that Roz was birthed from pure evil. His goal is to corrupt the world, this could also explain Ezequiel's broken halo and why Clare's eyes turned pink in "Her." I'm not sure if any of this is correct, but it is how I interpreted it.
Edit: After watching it more closely I can also see that the more eyes he collect, the more powerful he becomes. I think. :\
Another Edit: I can't help but notice the sword next to Roz after he... evolves? Ezequiel can turn his feathers into swords. So maybe the sword is hinting at something to come in the near future. I don't know. Also, Roz drew the sun that was on the vase that the girl (?) also drew on the wall in blood. In the description At Lojart quotes "Where's your sun?" the sun must mean something important or else it wouldn't have been mentioned, right? At Lojart, if you read this can you please let me know if I am somewhat right?

Im back 4 years later and this is still my favorite animation of all time.
One of the things I enjoy about this concept is that he didn't have a reason to kill anyone, no tragic backstory, he just do. Two years later and this is still amazing.

I'd suggest we're operating on some form of demon power scaling based on the souls you've killed.
So I'm guessing he's some sort of potentially powerful demonic figure just given his own hunting grounds to level up and become a deadly sin or perhaps, even the king of hell.
Me too soo many people think that a villain without a motive is badly written one and tho that might be true for some villains like Roz prove them wrong. As much as I love villains with tragic backstories and crazy deep rooted motives I also like villains like Roz who have no motive or reason for thier actions. Sure we could try to come up for reasoning for what he's done like the argument that he gains strength the more he kills which is true and could become a later motive but the moment he killed his family he didn't know that, he grew up and was raised as a normal member of society. No matter what reason u come up with there's an argument all we know is one day he walked up to his family and killed them which is interesting and well written in it's own way.
