Thanks so much! I don't usually write out tabs, and not for things I improvise ... but maybe I'll do that for this one. Sorry to be so late in answering.
Mark, That unique Fmin#-ish chord is the Andy Summers type 5-fret sucky stretch voicing based on both 6th & 5th strings. Can't remember the name--9th something?? Anyways see "Every Breath" & "Message in Bottle". Dave Matthews I think has used that type of as have others similar fingering. See "Warehouse"
Ha ha! Thanks. Yeah, I'm not into hand pain at all. I did a video a long time ago on Message In a Bottle, but I used a much easier (IMHO) fingering. I seem to remember somebody commenting something like, "Hey, that's not how it's played." Yes, I know ... that's why I put it in the title. Oh well, sometimes it's best just to laugh. Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it!
@Ed Zen Yeah, exactly so. Or Freddie King's Someday After Awhile. Or Clapton's version of Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out. So many great ones. th-cam.com/video/5WopQbZLZDA/w-d-xo.html
Thank you so much! Your instructions was very easy to follow :) picked up the basic song structure rather easily and made my own fills in between the chords. Also, could you explain the fingering for the ermm.. Octave walk around the 1:50 mark? I kept trying to follow it by ear and by watching your fingering but can't quite match it. Im doing X,10,7,7,X,X slide to X,12,9,9,x,x, and slide to X,14,12,12,X,X .... could you help clarify this for me please? Its killing me not to get it right hahaa :P
Thanks for watching and for the kind words too! I improvised it, so I'm sure I was just trying to get to the 3rd of the A chord (C#). It sounds like I'm going x,10,x,7,x,x to x,13,x,10,x,x to x,14,x,11,x,x (Notice I deaden the 3rd string with my left hand.) But other phrases work well too. Notating only on the 2nd string here for convenience, your 10, 12, 14 is good, as is 12, 13, 14. Landing on the 14 is the idea.
Ah yes. Those are "Octaves". You play those on guitar by playing non-adjacent strings (here the 2nd and 4th strings) several frets apart (like 2nd string 10 and 4th string 7). The same note plays, but separated by an octave. They're a bit tricky because you've got to deaden the string in between the two that are sounded. Listen to Wes Montgomery or George Benson to hear how true masters do it! It's a neat effect.

Hmmm ... I guess it's just a little octave thing. I just did it without much thought. I'd be happy to do a lesson on octaves. Nice idea, thanks! BTW, wicked-freaky and cool avatar you have there.
Hi Martin. It's a fairly standard 7th chord fingering with the root on the 5th string. E7 chord using the C7 shape if you were playing in first position. Uses strings 5,4,3,2 on frets 7,6,7,5 respectively.
Okay ... BTW, I have the TAB in the description ... here it is for your convenience: www.dropbox.com/s/ynqsvrxxz6ooxg6/I%27m%20Gonna%20Find%20Another%20You.pdf?dl=0
Mark Zabel I've been hearing about this brand alot lately (are they a famous brand?), would it be better to get a jazz guitar or something more versatile like a prs? I play all different kinds of music (not well but getting better) but I'm looking to add a workhorse
Reverends are not all that common, though I have 2 of them. (This and a Buckshot) If I had one guitar, I wouldn't choose this. I would get a semi-acoustic thinline like the Sheraton. But, I would probably instead get the 339 Pro because it's more comfortable (smaller body), has coil splits on each pickup (gives you the option of getting "thinner" sounds like from a Strat), and it's VERY affordable. (~$350 to $400 right now) They also make a hollowbody version, the Epiphone Casino Coupe. Also quite cool. A little less sustain, maybe a slightly woodier tone. Sheraton is good too.
Thank you for the lesson! Been finding numerous lesson on this song and I find this video the most accurate (100% accurate) as John plays it in the Studio. Thank u very much!
Nope, that's a totally different chord. The actual chord here is F# minor add9. The chord that you suggested (F#min9) has a flat 7 which isn't in the chord that John plays
is there still a way to get the tab to this? I have signed up for your website in the past and tried all the links, but I can't seem to find it anymore. Thanks
Yes, you can sign up here. I've moved all the tabs, as don't use the platform they were housed on before. It's in 2016, the year the video was made. view.flodesk.com/pages/63f90e66864dc24814353f5e
My hands are too small to do the hendrix/mayer style of playing the low E string with the thumb, so its nice to see this song and others can be played using barre chords instead 🙂

It's really over, you made your stand
You got me crying, as was your plan
But when my loneliness is through, I'm gonna find another you
You take your sweaters
You take your time
You might have your reasons but you will never have my rhymes
I'm gonna sing my way away from blue

When I was your lover
No one else would do
If I'm forced to find another, I hope she looks like you
Yeah and she's nicer too
So go on baby
Make your little get away
My pride will keep me company
And you just gave yours all away
Now I'm gonna dress myself for two
Once for me and once for someone new
I'm gonna do somethings you wouldn't let me do

could someona detalilme the Strings and frets of the 12:17 chord please
Hi Martin. It's a fairly standard 7th chord fingering with the root on the 5th string. E7 chord using the C7 shape if you were playing in first position. Uses strings 5,4,3,2 on frets 7,6,7,5 respectively.
Mark Zabel yeeah I had already figured it out, it took me some time. Thank you!!
Okay ... BTW, I have the TAB in the description ... here it is for your convenience: www.dropbox.com/s/ynqsvrxxz6ooxg6/I%27m%20Gonna%20Find%20Another%20You.pdf?dl=0
what kind of guitar is that? I was thinking about getting a epiphone Sheraton for my jazzy sound, however this sounds fantastic lol
It's a Reverend Pete Anderson PA-1. Great guitar.
Mark Zabel thanks! going to guitar center to try them out now!
Have fun!!
0:50 here's the demo
Okay
Thank you for the lesson! Been finding numerous lesson on this song and I find this video the most accurate (100% accurate) as John plays it in the Studio. Thank u very much!
@@danaomarcedzel4101 Thanks! You really made my day!
Even it's 2019 i'm going for it 😊
Btw. Mark, you gonna win the case against your hair dresser 😎
Hmm, even in America I'm not sure I could sue myself! The song is good though - definitely!
Thanks for the video man! I think the chord on 11:55 min is an F#min9
Yes, that's right. Thanks!
Glad you liked it. Amazingly, I just published a video entirely about playing Hendrix/Mayer style without the thumb. You might enjoy it! Right here: th-cam.com/video/ylSmbdFHWcg/w-d-xo.html
