Hello and thank you -nice video. The part of your video I found most instructive was the last part giving us a choice of estuve or estaba. Please consider remaking the video and spend only 10 percent giving the explanation and 90 percent displaying which of the two sentences is correct and WHY over and over and over. -that would really force us to internalize it
He was dancing at the club yesterday - ayer estaba bailando en el club. It's an isolated incident so why Estaba instead of ESTUVO is used? Looking forward for your reply.
If you only say “he was dancing at the club yesterday” without any more context you should use “él estuvo bailando en el club ayer”. Now, if you add something else that happened while he was dancing at the club you should use “estaba”, for instance: “he was dancing at the club yesterday when the fire started”: “él estaba bailando en el club ayer cuando el incendio empezó”.
I have always used estuve when I wanted to convey the impression that the action was completed "Estuve viajando la semana pasado" and Estaba when I may or may not have yet completed the action "Estaba viajando en Espana la semana pasada." If the person wants clarification they can ask. Other people also seem to follow this rule.
I don't know about other people but I've been learning Spanish for just a few weeks and I have no idea what these example sentences are. So each time I have to pause the video and go translate them, then come back and resume. It breaks up the flow of learning, makes it too choppy. If you gave the full example sentence in English as well as Spanish it would eliminate this problem. Imagine it this way; if you were teaching in front of a classroom full of students and had to pause at each example sentence while they go and translate it, you would occasionally lose your place in the presentation. Not a big deal because you already know the material. But for those students who don't know the material getting knocked off our game means we don't learn it. Just a suggestion from someone on the other side of the class.

So, in English we use the past perfect continuous to explain what, in Spanish, we could have said using the past indefinite progressive then we use the past progressive to explain what, in Spanish, we could have explained using the past imperfect progressive. I guess the difference is the imperfect to describe what had not been finished rather than leaving that unanswered ("She had been cooking for two hours when the doorbell rang" or "Ella estuve siendo cocinando para dos horas cuando sonido la puerta."). Or the indefinite to specify that something's not completed rather than leaving that unanswered("she was cooking when the doorbell rang." or "Ella estaba cocinando cuando sonido la puerta.")
