この日はゴリラ達のお勉強の日でした。
最初に勉強を始めたゲンタロウ。
この日は1〜12、1〜15、1〜16と、少しづつ問題の難易度を上げて勉強してました。
すると突然隣の部屋からキンタロウの悲鳴が聞こえました。
どうやらゲンキがトレーニングのご褒美に貰ったペレット入りの消防ホースを、1度キンタロウが取ろうとして、それを取り返したゲンキに対して怒って叫んだみたいです。
(14:27〜)キンタロウの悲鳴を聞いたモモタロウは、子供を守ろうと必死に部屋に入ろうとしますが、夕食の時は扉が閉まってて入れません。
そのすぐ後、モモタロウを落ち着かせるためか飼育員さんがいつもより早く扉を開けてました。
またキンタロウが悲鳴を上げるとモモタロウに怒られると思ったのか、ゲンキは消防ホースを１つキンタロウに渡しました。

(14:21〜)I was watching Gentaro study, I suddenly heard Kintaro's screams coming from the next room.
It seems that Kintaro screamed because he wanted the fire hose that Genki received from the zookeeper as a reward for her training.
(14:27〜)Momotaro is not allowed to enter Genki's room during dinner time, but when he hears Kintaro's screams, he tries desperately to help him.
Zookeepers opened the door earlier than usual to calm Momotaro down.
Genki was afraid that Kintarou would scream again and Momotaro would get angry, so she gave Kintarou a fire hose.

⭐️モモタロウ ♂(2000/7/3)
2000年に上野動物園で誕生。
母はモモコで父はビジュ。(ビジュはモモタロウが生まれる前に亡くなってます)
2010年に京都市動物園にやって来て、ゲンキとの間にゲンタロウとキンタロウという2人の息子が誕生。
モモタロウは父親と暮らした事がないので不器用なところもありますが、２児の父として頑張ってます。
⭐️ゲンキ ♀(1986/6/24)
ゲンキは京都市動物園で、父マックと母ヒロミの間に生まれました。
京太郎という兄もいましたが(人工哺育)、すでに亡くなってます。
ゲンキは10歳の時に繁殖のために上野動物園に移動しましたが、他の雌ゴリラ達との関係悪化などあり、ストレスで自傷行為までするようになったので再び京都市動物園に戻って来ました。
それから色んな雄との経験をつみ、モモタロウと出会いました。
モモタロウはゲンキが上野動物園時代に好きだったビジュの息子でもあります。
そしてモモタロウとの間に長男ゲンタロウ、次男キンタロウが誕生しました。
ゲンキはとても母性が強く、2人の息子にもたくさんの愛情を注いでいます。
⭐️ゲンタロウ ♂(2011/12/21)
モモタロウとゲンキの間に生まれた第1子。
ゲンキの母乳の出が悪く、生後数日で衰弱してたために人工哺育で育てられました。
約10ヶ月後に無事にゲンキと同居を再開し、現在は立派なゴリラとして成長中です。
人間の事も大好きで、飼育員さんと楽しそうに遊ぶ姿もたくさん見れました。
思春期で母ゲンキを困らせる事も多々ありますが、弟のキンタロウといつも遊んであげる良いお兄ちゃんでもあります。
⭐️キンタロウ ♂(2018/12/19)
モモタロウとゲンキの間に生まれた第2子。
赤ちゃんの頃は母ゲンキに1日中抱かれてる期間が長かったので、小さく細くで心配されたりもしましたが、今はそれが嘘みたいに逞しく成長。
自己主張が激しく、気が強い一面があり、父モモタロウに怒られてもケロッとしてたりする事もあります。
今では元気に1人で動き回ってますが、まだ母ゲンキに甘えています。

モモタロウ父さん、息子の悲鳴に瞬時に反応して行動する父親ならではでボスならではの責任感と愛情の深さを感じる。
息子のキンタロウも父ちゃんと離れて不安になったのかな？
動物園でも、そういったゴリラの家族愛やボスとしての責任感や深い愛情がみれて、ますますゴリラの魅力を知りました。
Gentaro’s facial expressions at the beginning of the video are too funny. You can see that he is not yet developing his adult canine teeth. It's interesting how he can suck his finger and play the numbers game at the same time. He’s so fast!
I really felt for Momotaro as he tried to get to Kintaro. The fact that Genki avoided her screaming child shows us it was a temper tantrum and nothing to be concerned about. Kintaro really seems to feel entitled, and giving in to him will only reinforce that behaviour. This was a very interesting video. Thanks! ❤

Gentaro looks stressed to me. That constant sucking the finger and shaking. I hope he is ok. The little Kintaro is being a brat!!! Dad was freaking out but mom knew it was nothing to worry about.
He has done digit-sucking since he was a baby. In our husbandry manuals it is listed under abnormal behaviour and is a sign of stress.

Kintaro est il effrayé ou contrarié, en colère parce que sa mère a obtenu des friandises et pas lui ?? il a déjà démontré de façon très drôle et presque similaires, ses exigences devant l’écran quand sa mère y était et défendait son tour comme elle pouvait devant la tonicité de son plus jeune !
Pour mon humble part, je pense plutôt à cette deuxième version, n’imaginant pas un seul des membres de cette troupe effrayé au sein de leur enclos sauf lorsque les soigneurs doivent en séparer un par exemple, pour des soins.
Je n’ose imaginer le stress subi par tous et davantage par Gentaro, qui paraît plus sensible, le jour de son départ, que je ne souhaite pas même sous prétexte de son bien imaginé par d’autres spectateurs qui lui rêve une femelle.

I love how Gentaro still sucks him finger so cute, but I worry about his behavior whilst sitting on the ledge he was making distured movements also shaking his hand. I wonder if his mental state is alright. I felt sorry for Momotaro trying to get to Kintaro he was so worried. I went through a lot of turmoil, especially shopping at the malls, my son would scream cry if he didn't get his way.

@@TheFlashyWeasel If we started acting up in any way in a store, our mom would immediately remove us from the store, and I do remember once when my little brother got a spanking in the car afterwards lol. We learned pretty quickly that bad behavior in stores wasn't going to be tolerated. Nowadays you see kids running all over the store, squeaking and screaming, and a lot of parents don't do anything to stop them.

She didn't take it off him it was given to her for her training and he had a meltdown because he didn't get a hose.

@juliajohnson6022 He has been spoiled his entire life. Remember how in the very beginning, he wasn't putting on weight fast enough, and they didn't think he would make it? Add to that Gentaro's jealous rage against Genki, and Genki being a helicopter mum who absolutely wouldn't put him down or let him walk, and you have a recipe for the tantrum behaviour you see now.
Genki is also naturally high strung. In her previous zoo situation, she was bullied so mericilessly and under so much stress that she ate off most of her fingers and all of her toes on her right foot.
This stress soup also explains why Gentaro still engages in abnormal digit-sucking. It's so sad.
@@sandrabentley8111My educated guess is that because silverbacks are the leaders and always expect to be fed first, when they want other troop members to have something special, they segregate Momotaro so he won't demand their food or be physically abusive to them if they don't want to hand it over.

All great apes and even some of the lesser apes need mental stimulation. Besides the forages they put out for them which mimics the behaviour they would do in the wild, they also supply lots of food puzzles to engage their brains fully to keep them mentally satisfied and to keep them from getting bored.

I've watched a lot of gorilla documentaries and I've never seen a gorilla in the wild make the jerky hand and facial expressions the gorilla was making at the beginning of this clip. It's almost like his movement/gestures are a symptom of his captivity - rather than a natural expression. Am I way off base?
I thought the same thing! He reminded me of an autistic child I wonder if the experts of gorillas have a test for autism? I know I probably sound flaky but they already have so much in common with us!
No, you hit it on the head. The finger sucking is also not normal behavior in the wild. That's a form of self soothing. Yes, he is showing signs of stress. He needs to be in a bachelor group or taken to another zoo in need of a young male to form a troop with. A troop in the wild has 1 silverback. Young males Gentaro's age leave or are forced out of the troop and join other young males, then when in their teens go find single females and form their own troops or fight to take over a troop. Another thing imo is they do not have enough space nor do they have enough foraging or activities that mimic foraging and nest making in the wild. They are physically well cared for but Gentaro's mental well being is questionable. Only a matter of time before things come to blow between Momo and him and/or the others.

Gentaro is still a child, albeit a teenager, and from the time he was little he did quirky, funny things like this. I've seen him do this a lot, and I have seen it in numerous other adolescent and teen gorillas.
The abnormal behaviour is the digit-sucking. It is listed under abnormal psychological behaviour in our husbandry manuals and is a sign of stress, and Gentaro's done it all his life.
@@cinbob4633As far as I can remember, I don't think anyone has developed an actual test for autism in the great apes. But he has done this quirky thing with his head and hands since he was a baby, so that's normal teen behaviour since he is still not yet a fully grown adult.

I used to enjoy watching these videos, but the videos sometimes favor Kintaro and paint Gentaro in a bad light. I remember when viewers compared Genki and Tayari's mothering skills, which was totally unfair to Tayari at Taipei Zoo. Despite what people have thought of Tayari's mothering skills, Jabali is a fine young male gorilla. I still see people make the same comparison and favoritism between Jabali and Ringo, pitting them against one another in videos and comments as they do with Kintaro and Gentaro. They are all normal gorillas behaving as gorillas do and who are we humans to judge them when they don't fit our morals or ideology? They may share DNA with humans, but they are still animals and shouldn't be held to our standards.

Because in the beginning he was sick. He wasn't putting on weight quick enough and they weren't sure he would make it. He even missed hitting his milestone markers, like walking. Add to this Gentaro's jealous rage and always wanting to kill Genki, along with her being high strung and a helicopter mum who refused to put him down to explore, and you have a very spoiled Kintaro.
😒🙄 Gentaro has never tried to unalive his mother. Now Gentaro is jealous of Kintaro due to all the attention kintaro gets from parent's.
@d4mskippy746 Go back and watch videos of when Kintaro was first born. I saw it myself. There was one time he tried to push Genki off a very high ladder while she was holding Kintaro, and another when he blatantly attacked her in the face. He also bit her several times. Gentaro had a big problem with jealous, explosive rage.

no he's stressed along with sucking his fingers. Zoos all over need to be closed. look how patchy their fur is in some places. Guerillas already have low close short hair. so it's normal. It's not even shiny compared to the ones that are in the wild. Dull and patchy. So sad watching this.

That has to be torturous for Momotaro. His entire existence is based upon protecting his family and when they need him he finds himself trapped and unable to his job. I don’t know how or why he was separated from the other three but this incident shouldn’t have been allowed to happen in the first place.
They sometimes do that when they want certain troop members to get treats. Silverbacks demand to be fed first. If they don't segregate Momotaro from the rest they would never get any treats.

absolutely looks stressed but freeing them now would be detrimental unless they're going to a free range sanctuary. The fact people in the comments only care about their enjoyment and entertainment and not the animals is sad and selfish.
