Your videos are tops even if you don't always think so. Your observations are great and I think we all know what you are feeling and seeing as though we were there with you. Your delivery is charming and this is a great video so stop the self doubt and just keep posting, we love it. Fair winds from the southern hemisphere.
I got hooked on your videos 3 weeks ago - then you went off to sail Athena back home. So, in the mean time, I have watched videos from 5 or 6 others who do similar stuff. After watching yours above, I must say, you are setting the standards for quality - video, audio, content - everything. The drone video at the start and of Athena were awesome! Just one bone to pick. Tides go up and down. Current and wind go side to side. Thanks and keep-em coming.
The best way to fight seasickness is to never go below when feeling seasick. Try to stay on deck so that you can see the horizon. That really works as it gives your inner ear a way to calibrate with the motion of the boat. Obviously, this doesn't work so well at night.
I give this video a hardy "Well Done". Keep them coming, they are great and you do a fine fine job putting these videos together. I've really enjoyed watching each and every one one them.
Hi Mads, there is one thing I heard about seasickness and that was to put in your headphones and listen to your favored music. I never tried it, because I had never been seasick (knock on wood), but I read it in a German sailor-magazine. I wish you that it helps. Have a nice race. I'm excited for more Videos.
I see no reason you should not be very proud of the footage you put together for us despite being sick! Would I have preferred to have a video of EACH leg of the trip? SURE! But it's totally understandable. Do I want to see a vid of the second part of your passage to Denmark? OF COURSE! The more of Mads and company the better! So, you hit the mast with the drone... so what? It survived and it could have been so much worse! You could have hit the rigging instead and had it go in the water! Besides the shots you have gotten with the drone have been pretty spectacular so far. THUMBS UP!
You rock Mad, never mind the video edition, everything is welcomed. Glad to see you made it and the sea sickness was only for a day. Looking forward for the follow up on Athena.
Really enjoyed seeing the drone footage of the Scottish towns and Athena under way. The aerial footage appears so clear and professionally done...spectacular. Congratulations on getting Athena on the hard so quickly and I am looking forward to the upcoming projects.
You rock Mad, never mind the video edition, everything is welcomed. Glad to see you made it and the sea sickness was only for a day. Looking forward for the follow up on Athena´s haul out and upgradas
Very nice forage Mads! I think in-spite of your stomach not agreeing with you, you captured some great shots and started a nice beginning story for Athena. Glad you made it back! We'll be looking forward to the carry-over from Obliex to Athena as well as any project videos you may have!
Thanks for the video. I know I'll be looking forward to the second half. That wall at low tide was amazing. I think it was kind of neat to narrate the trip with the perspective of some time distance.
I really enjoyed this first instalment of your trip back home. Thanks very much for posting it. I was following your track all the way home and was eagerly awaiting these vlogs. Congratulations on your new boat and well done with your "delivery trip". :)
Thank you so much :) I'm glad you enjoyed the video. It seems quite a lot of people enjoyed keeping tabs on us using the InReach feed. I'm glad I brought it along! :)
Today is a good day. More Sail Life video! Thanks Mads! I actually enjoyed the voice over story telling. Part of the fun in watching sailing videos for me is watching the sailors sail and enjoy their time out on the sea and interacting with each other. If you're interrupting your trip to worry about talking to the camera it seems like you aren't enjoying the trip as much. I think having voice over is actually a great thing because it allows you to focus on living the dream. I know you have to be thinking ahead to get the great shots but maybe don't worry about the "as its happening narrative" as much. Mads, you are maybe the most technical/electronically gifted sailing channel out there so tell me what you think of this idea. Would it be possible to mount a gopro or two higher up on the boat (maybe at the Y in your backstay? maybe the mast?) with continuous power and outputting HDMI to an external drive via an old computer or raspberry pi or something? From the little I've looked into it, it seems like you could make it fairly weatherproof and it might be a way to capture some great B roll shots of things like tacks, reefing, or sail changes. And also capture some of those rough seas you told us about without putting you down a crew member who has to be on the camera. A system to raise and lower the camera would have to be figured out but it seems like the payoff might be worth it. Anyway, just a thought. Love the videos! Keep doing what you're doing!
I don't know why I just assumed that you bought Athena on the east coast of Scotland. Instead, this was quite a journey! Being able to take your new boat on a long trip like this must give you much more enthusiasm for working on her once back in Denmark. A lot of people get a boat and start repairing it where they found it not really knowing fully what their efforts are going into and maybe losing sight of the end goal along the way. Your videos are delightful and very useful for the rest of us following your trail.......
Thanks Mads, we really enjoy seeing your adventures! Keep it up and hang in there concerning the sea sickness. The more experienced you get the faster it will become less of a problem!
This is a great story, following it with great interest. Don't worry if things go wrong in the taking or production of the video the quality is ok. What's more interesting is your story. Looking forward to hearing more in the future. Ade
Thank you so much :) I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I had so many plans for stuff I wanted to shot on the trip but and I almost didn't get any of it. Next time I go cruising I'll either be on my own or bring someone along that is also focused on shooting video. It was awesome making videos with Alfy last summer. It's much easier when everyone aboard is focused on filming :)
Well done. My Grandparents use to live in the big house sailors line up with to come into the bay there. Great place and glad you visited. Weather here on the west coast of Scotland is great, at present.
Mads - Congratulations on so many levels. You are putting to practice living your dreams. That is so impressive. And please continue to make the videos that you do. I appreciate them more when it is the day to day stuff than the “postcard” perfect travel shots (but the drone is VERY cool!)! In many ways, you have taken your audience along with you. Not just informing us BUT including us. Thanks for bringing me along. Tim
This was a GREAT video! At least I think so. So many people never post stuff about being sick aboard! We did as it's worse than ashore. Loved the drone footage. And YES, I want to see the second half.
Congratulations on your new boat. Here are some tips on sea sickness I learned during 22 years in the Navy. 1st. Remember what your Mother always told you about posture sit up strait, head up if you are slouching and have your chin on your chest your body will be all tensed up and will fight the movement that your ears are sensing. If you are moving thru the boat and it is rocking back and forth as it sways to the right grab something on the right same for the left you want to move with the boat not against it. And lastly laugh, talk or sing songs all of the things will cause you to relax and force you to breath and if you still find your breakfast wanting to escape follow the first step and watch the horizon congratulations again
You have my sympathy for the sickness. As you rightly say these things always seem to happen at the most inopportune moments. I'm sure we would all like to see any video footage you might have of the 2nd part of the trip plus the story. I'm looking forward to seeing the projects on Athena. Cheers.
Hey Mads, Great update, thank you very much. loved seeing the footage and look for forward to seeing more of the trip. the country side was beautiful and love the drone video. As I have said to you already I hate that you were sick and hope that you can find out what happened and why. keep up the hard work and look forward to the future updates.
Thanks for sharing. I really like your documentaries. Congrats with Athena. She look like a nice boat. I already look forward to your next video. Keep up the good work 👍⛵
Good video, the shortage of footage didn't take anything away. You were sailing, to cool places, in challenging waters, on a cool boat. That's exactly what I want to see.
Congratulations on a successful voyage even with being sick. By all means please post a second, third, fourth video of the trip. Looking forward to seeing more videos of the saga.
We want all the footage you shot Mads don't slow down now and i hope your feeling better ...keep the video's coming motion sickness happens to most if they spend enough time on the water keep your eye on the horizon never look at the water close up keep that nose in the breeze and the spray in your face much better for you then going below just my opinion Mads i was a commercial fisherman for 17 years it's what i did when ever i wasn't feeling good and keep hydrated keep up the great video's my friend thank you for sharing
great video. keep it up!! I just bought a Pioneer 10 and hope to sail the north Sea with her soon. You showed me to keep following my dream to sail. thanks.
I love the drone footage from when you were under sail! And of course we all want to see the rest of the trip! You don't have to be so shy! The videos you produce are great and we can't wait to see the next! So, go one Mads!!
Mads: so sorry to hear you were sick for part of the trip. I loved the aerial shots of Athena on the North Sea. Any landing you can walk away from is a good one. :-)
Hey Mate, How funny that you're doing a trip I just completed, albeit in the opposite direction. I skippered a round Britain trip for a sailing school, getting back to Falmouth last Friday. We also stopped off in Port Ellen, after coming down the Sound of Islay at 12 knots over the ground en route from Oban, after leaving the Caledonian canal. Small world!
Wow, it is a small world :D It would have been fun if our paths would have crossed :) Stunningly beautiful part of the world! I'll be back in a few years :)
Of course we want part 2 (and 3 if you have enough footage!). Really want to see some footage from the canal and it would be nice to see the N Sea and final approach in Denmark.
Great vid Mads!! What an awesome adventure. Sad to hear that you've been ill during the journey. Still it seems like an awesome sail. Lots of love!! /the Monea crew
Good work! Love the adventure. Just so sorry you had a rough ride with the bug. Glad you made it home safe and look forward to more. Go easy on yourself with feeling like you need to have given more. Only thing worse than being ill is being ill when you are traveling.
So glad I found you. Just sub'd and started watching, learning so much already. I really hope to get into cruising, no experience at all. I am also single here and with a doggie. I hope to buy a short crew type boat after I have studied and studied. I am not afraid of hard work but the learning curve is large. Thank you so much for what you are doing and have in the past. It is great for those like me
Mads, thanks for sharing, a map of the trip and where your ports of call were would have been nice. Those are beautiful little towns, nice, sorry to hear about the sea-sickness.
You are way too hard on yourself here. This is a GREAT video. I can't wait to watch the next part. Perhaps you could have captured more video and made another epic 8-parter out of this whole trip, but what you have flows very well and the afterwards narrative style from back home really works. It looks like you made some excellent lemon-aid from the lemons you were handed. One hint on seasickness; people need to drink much more water than they think they do, and keep themselves ultra-hydrated when fighting seasickness or any sea bug for that matter. 0.5l of water might seem to be a daunting task to consume when you are already ill, so pre-hydrating before a voyage starts helps a lot with that. If any alcohol is consumed before the voyage then even more water needs to be consumed at the same time to counteract any effects of booze dehydrating the body as it is metabolized. Finally, boats are often very dirty places and it is easy to get all sorts of persistent boat bugs embedded on strange boats. I can tell that you are a very meticulous person, so you are probably great at keeping a boat clean and while preparing food. Unfortunately I have noticed that a lot of sailors are not, and can be very lax in this regard. I think this unfortunate fact has a lot to do with many cases of seasickness. I've seen it happen on the passages I've made. Now that you have Athena home and cleaned up very well any mold or recycling germs aboard will probably have been cleaned and sterilized very well, or at least will be by the time you are all done. She will be a brand new boat. I think your sea-sickness issues will be much reduced or gone entirely once you have made Athena your home and have gotten her really really clean and spiffy in bristol fashion inside. Both of times you have been sick have been on other people's boats on longer passages, so cleanliness could very well be a contributory factor.
I know you have high standards for your videos but no need to apologise, I enjoy your videos whatever they are about and however you present them as I love sailing and boats and seeing other peoples experiences. I am thankful you share your experiences and I hope when I get out sailing soon to be able to share mine too.
Your storytelling skills are excellent Mads, and if you were not such a perfectionist in production, you might even enjoy making videos more. ;) Oh, your drone shots really add a lot to your vlogs, and truly help to expand our view of what you are experiencing. And I hope you will put together a blog of the second half of your trip back home.
Hey Mads! Great video, I enjoyed it. Sorry that you are fighting the seasickness again, I hope that eventually that will be a thing of the past for you.. You really need to get your new boat down to the Caribbean , to warmer weather and gentle breezes. Take care and lets see more of your trip home. Paul
Fantastic video, Mads. You've made us want to take a boat up there and get lost in all those tiny marinas and anchorages. Tonight we are back on the hard in our project boat though 👍
Great job as always Mads. Thanks for sharing. I get seasick when I can't see the horizon. I have found that if I find the fulcrum of the boat (the middle of the see-saw if you will) sit down and stare at the horizon, the symptoms abate after a while. Pretty sure everyone has their own cures, as it's absolutely no fun. :( Take care, and looking forward to more crossing footage if you're able. Best!
This turned out great! Wonderful job. I look forward to more video if you have the time but don't push yourself. Can't wait to see what projects you have lined up. :)
video was great. Its nice to see some footage and you where easily able to fill in by telling parts of the story. Sorry to hear you got sick. Hopefully you will have better luck with that in the future. Definetly would like to see anything you have on the second part of your journey. Looking forward to lots of future videos as you work on athena and move in.
Mads, pull your head in, your vid was outstanding and way to go with the drone off the deck whilst sailing. I don't know if it was blind ignorance or a ballsy thing to do but well done. The boat looks great. I said to you once before after your Fiona trip that a very experienced sailing friend of mine (Sydney Hobart, Admirals Cup, America's Cup etc) always maintained that you have to be well hydrated to keep seasickness at bay which means start hydrating several days before - this has always worked for me !! Interesting comment about the vitamin C, this same friend when we used to do watch shift swaps, as he was getting ready to come on watch he would have a cup of tea and a fresh orange. Maybe there is something to the vitamin C. Sorry that you got a bug, maybe too much Haggis.
You seem to be one of the nicest people in planet Earth! Articulate, tolerant, and gentle. Sail on young man!
Your videos are tops even if you don't always think so. Your observations are great and I think we all know what you are feeling and seeing as though we were there with you. Don't be overly critical of your efforts. From this side of the screen it is better than many others on TH-cam!
The best way to fight seasickness is to never go below when feeling seasick. Try to stay on deck so that you can see the horizon. That really works as it gives your inner ear a way to calibrate with the motion of the boat. Obviously, this doesn't work so well at night.
..."conversation with a 3-gallon bucket..." hahaha. You are great Mads!
its great mads as always Oban is a wonderful place its a shame you didnt get to see it, keep the videos coming mads always great to watch
Hitting the mast with the drone must be equivalent to the skydiver hitting the lone cactus in the desert on the way down ha ha. Great video as usual.
I give this video a hardy "Well Done". Keep them coming, they are great and you do a fine fine job putting these videos together. I've really enjoyed watching each and every one one them.
Don't be so hard on yourself, the video was just fine. Thanks for taking us with you!
Hi Mads, there is one thing I heard about

Your concerns are unfounded. This is a very good video. Yes please, make another video of the trip.
Glad you got your new baby home safe and sound. :)
What a lovely looking yacht. Video quality is fine. Yes, it would be great to see the second half.
loving the videos Mads, please more outtakes... you are so ooooon.lol funny.. keep up the great work.. cheers. Dan.
Great video.
I'm looking forward to seeing part two! Wishing you the very best with your new girl Athena.
Entertaining, Inspirational and Factual.
I appreciate your efforts on our behalf.
Thank you.
you have every reason to be proud of this video - like every other one you published!

You're more than welcome :P I hope you enjoyed the video :)
I edited my comment just a minute ago with an idea for you. What do you think?
So glad my friend you had a safe passage. That was my first time seeing a Scotland port town. Very beautiful. Thanks again for sharing.
Great video Mads! Been watching them since Obelix was in your yard. This one did not disappoint, they never do. keep up the awesome videos!
Great to hear an honest review of a passage. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the footage - anything is fun to see from places like the North Sea!
Thanks Mads, we really enjoy seeing your adventures! Keep it up and hang in there concerning the sea sickness. The more experienced you get the faster it will become less of a problem!
Great video Mads! Please do post up the 2nd part of the trip. We're looking forward to the Athena projects as well.
This is a great story, following it with great interest. Don't worry if things go wrong in the taking or production of the video the quality is ok. What's more interesting is your story. Looking forward to hearing more in the future. Ade

Like your other videos this was a nice one too. My son and I are following all your adventures and look forward to the next video !
Mads - Congratulations on so many levels. You are putting to practice living your
dreams. That is so impressive. And please continue to make the videos that
you do. I appreciate them more when it

Thanks for bringing me along. Tim
Sorry to hear you were ill but the video is still great don,t put yourself down mads your channel is one of the best on TH-cam well done
This was a GREAT video! At least I think so. So many people never post stuff about being sick aboard! We did as it's worse than ashore. Loved the drone footage. And YES, I want to see the second half.
MADZ your an inspiration! don't let a little sickness get you down!
Enjoyed watching your video and we are looking forward to watching the rest of the journey!
Really hope you find a cure for your seasickness soon!

You always do great videos no matter how bad you might think you did. I'm glad you found what you need to prevent your seasickness!
Beautiful boat, love the teak decking.
You were lucky the phantom ended up on the deck too lol
More projects! Looking forward to watching them. Thanks
great video. keep it up!!
I just bought a Pioneer 10 and hope to sail the north Sea with her soon. You showed me to keep following my dream to sail. thanks.
glad the sea sickness has eased off it always took me a couple of days to get over it. you do an amazing job on your videos i look forward to them
Can't wait to see more of your trip home and all the project videos that I'm sure are in your future with your new ship.
I love the drone footage from when you were under sail! And of course we all want to see the rest of the trip!
You don't have to be so shy! The videos you produce are great and we can't wait to see the next!

Great vid Mads! It's very exciting to watch your journey through Scotland.
Of course we want part 2 (and 3 if you have enough footage!). Really want to see some footage from the canal and it would be nice to see the N Sea and final approach in Denmark.
Thank you for sharing such a cool trip. The weight line trick alone might come in handy some day.
Great vid Mads!! What an awesome adventure. Sad to hear that you've been ill during the journey. Still it seems like an awesome sail. Lots of love!! /the Monea crew
Thumbs up. Publish what you have time for and we are glad to see it.
That was great!!! Thanks loads for sharing... More Please!! 🤗
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the video :) I'll see what I can put together from the second part of the trip :)
Great video thanks for the update, looking forward to more of the trip home.
Congrats on your new beautiful boat ))) We love your videos, keep 'em coming ))))
I hope you will overcome your seasickness as you sail more distances. Thanks for the video update.

Paul
Great trip! One trick with the Stugeron is to start taking it from the day before you set off.... try it...it works...and thanks for sharing the Video
Fantastic video, Mads. You've made us want to take a boat up there and get lost in all those tiny marinas and anchorages. Tonight we are back on the hard in our project boat though 👍
Nothing wrong with this video Mads. It is just a different format that we are use to get from you but still quite interesting.
Great vid, Mads, thanks! Would love to see footage from your passage through the canal!
Beautiful boat congrats on your trip home and yes by all means post part 2 when you can!!!!! very much enjoyed part 1!!
I really like your new boat, love the teak deck gives a boat so much more class
Great video, projects are nice, but actual sailing is too. Love the drone stuff... all good... thanks
Take care, and looking forward to more crossing footage if you're able. Best!
Sorry you were sick. Great video as always!! Glad to see that your drone survived!!
This turned out great! Wonderful job. I look forward to more video if you have the time but don't push yourself. Can't wait to see what projects you have lined up. :)
We have enjoyed all your videos .... including this one. :-)
Thank you so much :)
We're proud of you mads. Best video ever.
Great video. Thanks for sharing .I wish you fear winds and following seas 🌊 ⛵️ Greetings from beautiful tropical paradise island Kauai, Hawaii
Sorry about the seasickness. Glad you made it home safe! Keep making the great videos!
You should be proud of the video! it's great. Thank you for sharing all of your experience's.
Thank you so much! :)
Wonderfully beautiful and fast hull.
Hope you get to keep the teak deck, very bluwatery. Vikings always wear horned helmets , it prevents seasickness.
I missed this one. Glad I came back to watch it. You're a good story teller, so this video is actually quite good!
video was great.
Hello Mads! Congratulations, the vídeo was awesome!! I hope you don't get sick next time (and improve your drone pilot skills!!)Greatings from Brazil!
Hi Madz, I enjoyed the video, so please do a part 2 - maybe with a slow motion section of the drone stoofing into the mast.👍😀😎⛵️
Video was great as usual! Keep up the great work. I enjoy following your progress!
Hi Mads, that was still a very cool video. We want more!! Kind regards Jacob
Sorry that you got a bug, maybe too much Haggis.
it must be awful to be sea sick, glad the trip is going ok for you, good luck in the future.
That was great Mad's. Looking forward to the next.
