Great and informative video. Thanks. I have a pair of 6CG7 tubes with Raytheon Japan markings. I do not see any ventilation cut outs in the plates, but the tubes also have an S22 marking. They sound wonderful, and I slightly prefer them to RCA clear tops which I also have and really enjoy. I also have a single Realistic Japan which looks like a Matsushita.
Raytheon was and is a USA based international electronics company and they purchased many of their tubes from Japanese manufacturers, primarily Hitatchi, but probably others as well. And rebranded the tubes Raytheon. Our rule with identification is if a tube construction matches a known plant, then it doesn't matter what the label says, the construction match is always the reference.
Your kits sound good , even wonderfull meaning they play MUSIC instead of audiophile ( mostly digital) performance ...........that's rare with the choice of commercial audio grade brands on the market of today... People who love music and want to connect to the music instead of eternal analyzing the performance of their system know what to choose ........... Nos quality kept the know how of each respected brand .............becoming brare and expensive indeed but the make the difference when you use them in this kind of electronics ...........serving the music and connect to the soul of it . So freaking cool. Yeah the Toshiba brand name is actually really good!! I’m rocking some Toshiba 6DJ8 at the moment. God. Makes me want to try the 6GU7 on my other tube amp. Someday..someday. 😊
Really well! We tend to only get behind and source tubes that we really like, and from the first time we heard the different Japanese 6CG7's, we started trying to get in as many as we could. And we've heard the same thing from our customers too. The Toshiba made ones in particular seem to have a fantastic balance of warmth and detail while giving an excellent sound stage and instrument separation.

I Have a Hitray made by RCA. Some of the were truly made in America..
Researching for other 6CG7 to roll. My Leben preamp comes with two GE ones. How do these Japanese tubes compare to the stock GE 6CG7s?
