Which Schools DIDN'T Vote To Sue FSU? | Phil Steele's ACC Preview | Umpiring Nightmare

  • The Tampa Bay Times has revealed which ACC schools did not attend the meeting to vote on suing Florida State University. Clemson and North Carolina abstained from attending the meeting, while Florida State was not invited due to the conflict of interest. The remaining ACC members, twelve of them, voted unanimously to take the lawsuit forward. The ACC was rushing to get their suit filed in North Carolina before FSU filed their suit against the ACC in Florida. Now, the ACC is appealing in Florida to have that lawsuit put on hold while the North Carolina case moves forward. Will the ACC get their wish? Both sides would like the case to advance in their “home court” in hopes of a friendlier outcome.
    Hosts Alex Donno and Kenton Gibbs break down the latest ACC news. Phil Steele’s annual College Football Preview has been released to digital subscribers. Steele seems highest on Miami to win the conference, but his Power Ratings like the Hurricanes, Clemson Tigers and Florida State Seminoles as co-favorites. Donno and Gibbs discuss the umpiring horror show in the Super Regional baseball matchup between Clemson and Florida.

    It is quite clear that the ACC did not file first. According to the ACC’s own bylaws, such an action would require a 2/3s vote. They did not take that vote before filing. Realizing that they needed to, they took that vote three weeks later. The date they took the vote is the date they had the authority to file. Therefore FSU filed first.

    Miami people claimed that they only voted to have a vote and didn’t actually vote to sue FSU. That is what they claimed happened, but as we now know, they were lying. Why Miami would do that is a mystery and potentially suicidal but that is what passes for critical thinking in Coral Gables. FSU might potentially have some input in who goes with them to the B1G. Backstabbing Miami just eliminated themselves. Good job, you guys. Good job.

      WTH are you talking about?! Even if the BIG does go after FSU, which is a stretch, Miami doesn’t need FSU’s help for anything. Miami doesn’t owe FSU nothing. Y’all seem to forget; Miami is a private institution just like Notre Dame. Worse case scenario, if Miami doesn’t get an invite to the BIG they’ll more than likely go back to independent status if and when the ACC dissolves. Miami will be just fine.

      Now, look at the revenue that they would have. P2 schools are scheduled to get over $23m each just from the playoffs. Miami would get zero. The P2 schools will be getting $60-70-80m a year payout. Miami would get $20m tops or maybe nothing. Miami will be in a G5 conference before it’s over.
      Oh, FSU was ranked #7 in viewership and generated over $80m in revenue to the ACC while only getting $44m back. No other school in the conference even came close to that. Miami ranked fourth in the ACC in viewership, behind Louisville and barely ahead of Duke. FSU’s future is bright. Miami’s isn’t. Have a nice day.

    Guys, you are wrong about the Miami talent of recent years. You're quoting these ridiculous recruiting services where media expectations were based on them. It is just silly to say Miami was predicted to win the Coastal in Mario's 1st year in 2022. With what roster? The roster was terrible. You guys jump on the media band wagon because your peers say Miami was supposed to have a bunch of talented players, and then chalk it up as a failure for Mario when he didn't meet an expectation they set. See how that works?
    Look at the reality. There are only 3 players (2 active) on the roster from the 2020 class. That illustrates how bad the roster actually was that Mario inherited from Manny Diaz. There are only a few of those 2020 players that are doing anything at another P4 school. That 2020 class should have been the foundation of starters on the 2024 team in their 4th year in the program. Instead, there are only 2 active on the roster from that 2020 class in Jalen Rivers and Xavier Restrepo. That's a miss on 20+ players that should be your veteran starters in 2024.
    What you and just about everyone else fell to realize is that the administration at the U of Miami has NEVER invested in football until Mario Cristobal became the head coach. The administration fleeced the football program not investing in it because it was getting top talent and winning. When college football changed and the top schools started pumping millions into their football programs, Miami did NOT. Instead, Miami hired a bunch of 1st year and G5 budget friendly coaches with mediocre budget friendly assistants. Miami had mediocre coaches at best and were no longer getting the top players within the State of Florida. That is the reason why Miami has been mediocre for the past 20 years with only 1 appearance in the ACC title game. Not coincidental, the coach happened to be Miami's best and most experienced coach since 2004 in Mark Richt.
    Miam now has a proven coach in Mario Cristobal. The administration is contractually obligated to invest in the football program. Mario has all the resources he needs. He's the best recruiter in college football before and during NIL. He has put together a roster that can compete nationally. That is the difference of Miami now and the Miami of old.

    • @shawnandrews329
      @shawnandrews329 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Further, the 2021 Miami recruiting class was NOT much better than 2020 class. With Miami's 2020 and 2021 classes combined, 40 of 47 are no longer on the roster. There's only 5-6 that transferred out are at a P4 school. 4 of them are at SMU who will be P4 this season.
