lmao. paradox dlc for ck3 has been awful
Knowing the paradox, they will take this mod (which was previously free), make a much reduced and boring version and release it at a much inflated price (because it was previously free)
Please Paradox don't f this one up

this trailer goes extremely hard. the animation is absolutely magnificent.
and in addition, i'm glad the release date isn't all that close, super excited for it and i'd hate for it to flop, so im glad you're taking time for it!
"be truly daring and live a life where your noble reputation is not tied to the land, roaming the map as an Adventurer for hire."
I really hope this is what it means and doesn't still mean I have to own land. I would love to just be a random dude who goes around Mount and Blade style forming an army for hire and changing war outcomes and then I can finally decide to settle down and become a landowner through diplomacy or by sacking it myself!
we can only hope
Hopefully you can form a mercenary group. Maybe do what the Normans did in Italy historically and decide you want the land instead
From what I can tell there are two new types of playstyles. The first is the Byzantine playstyle, where you have an estate in a given location that you don't necessarily hold the title to. Pretty similar to how Merchant Republic gameplay was in CK2. The second is the adventurer playstyle which is what you are asking for. You just set out without any associated lands and accumulate resources you can use to do... stuff. Potentially you can do this for generations, as a mercenary or courtier until you have the ability to seize lands for yourself.
We should be careful about asking CK3 for stuff it's not necessarily the best at delivering.
CK3 is not Mount and Blade. It's about lord politics and land management. Remove these two things, you're just left to a portrait and a map.
A game cannot, and should not try to be good at everything.
If you are no longer tied to the land… that means you will be able to play as a republic or theocracy?
Honestly how are these trailers always so good. Like I forget how badly my PC will break when the DLC releases.
Well, here go my plans for the autumn, instead I will be saving Byzantine Empire :D
Can’t wait for this to hit the ps5 in ten years hyped
watching ck3 trailers always a pleasure
So happy we're getting Byzantine DLC. Favorite empire to play as.
I'm really hoping this won't be another "mostly negative" reviewed dlc. And enough content to justify the cost.
I only want this so I can adventure without being stuck some sort of throne
I'm really waiting for this DLC, because at the moment nothing seems up to the level of work that many of us are waiting for on the Eastern Roman Empire.
Whether on political life, with Byzantine families divided between the military (aristoi) and the civilians (dunatoi), as well as the impact on the Emperor. The latter's objective being to become an "autokrator";
The religious part, with the relationship between the Emperor, "Vicar of God on Earth", and the Orthodox Church;
The management part, with not a messy feudal system currently in the game which is in no way representative of the Byzantine administration (still not resolved since CK2...);
The dejure claims of the Basileia tôn Rhômaiôn (Byzantine Empire) to the former Roman territories of the East (Ex: Egypt) under conditions and have linked casus belli;
The claims of the Russians, Serbs and Bulgarians to be able to form empires/tsarats if the Byzantine Empire is destroyed (as was the case historically for Russia) or if the latter is weak (as was the case for the Serbs and the Bulgarians).
In short, work that historical mods have already done (exemple REX IN REGNO SUO EST IMPERATOR for CK2) but that we are still waiting for for a studio like Paradox ;)
Now this... This puts a smile on my face.
The one DLC in Chapter III I've been most hyped about. We will finally be able to play as unlanded nobles, wandering adventurers!
This will be awesome for mods like Elder Kings 2 as well.
Warcraft will be incredible too. Imagine going into the tomb of sargeras, being part of the Horde, the minor clans just walking around
I hope this isn't the last DLC I buy.
I get angry every time I purchase a game package that is too expensive compared to its quality. That too will be the last.
finally byzantine playthrough
Lets fucking go
I really hope you guys do well. I am rooting for you as someone with 1967 hours in CK3. But I am getting tired of waiting for things like Republics, Trade, Nomads, and Unique Imperial Mechanics. I hope that this DLC tackles at least part of the last one, but will reserve my optimism for when I see the Dev posts.
I love the style of these trailers, but i don't gey why they always seem to focus on intrigue. Every trailer is just schemes and assassinations even tho in the game, that's just one of the ways to play. I get the byzantines were very bad for court intrigue, but it would be nice to see some noble or inspiring trailers rather than every trailer being about some dude getting betrayed or killed in his sleep.
You guys need to fire Spymaster Trynnex. This moderator has been deleting my posts and banning me for no good reason. A man like that brings shame uppon the company.
If you were banned from our Discord server, you can submit an appeal via this link: pdxint.at/CKDiscordAppeal
Can we please get a Roman Empire expansion? I really want to play as the Alemanni or Suebi, or any other Germanic Tribe.
Average Tuesday in Byzantium.
This is the Roman Empire we're talking about here so this BETTER be good. All the past dlcs have been utter trash and I am not going to give a single penny if this is not the best Byzantine update PDX ever came up with.
Cant wait for this to be on console!… (in 3 years)

So excited!!!!
Come on with those PS5 updates, IM HUNGRY no rush though, no rush
Console not just ps5
I'm a PS5 so that's why I emphasized it. I didn't mean to offend you personally.
ah yes, the traditional way of eliminating rivals to your throne in the Byzantine Empire; by artificial imperfections.
If you ask me, I would rather be blinded to be killed
Thank goodness they didn't show how the Byzantines castrated dudes
I have a feeling we are going to have a true _byzantine_ power struggle mechanics with this new update.😂

6 days before Q4, that's a long time to wait, hope you release a dev diary soon.
trailer was beautiful btw
Honestly, I find it good that it will take a long time, this DLC will add so many new systems and flavor that it deserves the time it need to get it done, Q4 dlc in the other way is a way smaller flavor pack, so definetly can be done in less time, Really hoping for the best!

Also Sweden has long summer holidays so it might be a factor
But I'm willing to wait until september if it's great !
Theyve been delaying everything like this. Paradox seems to be learning some hard lessons from their recent failures.
allowing us to play as landless characters, i picture they will need to add / update plenty of events
As I understand it they were advertising this as the large expansion for the year.
New government system,landless play, empire flavor and an entire start date and probably more. I’m honestly surprised we’re getting it this year.

Take your time to make it perfect and pleasant. I believe in you guys. I expect a lot from the landless part. I want to start by being an ambitious peasant, then become barron, mayor or even mercenary and just climb to the top.
Real question. When I am opening my game, why do I see glitterhoof on my screen?

@@theeccentrictripper3863 the only people who still speak and write in it are the Orthodox Clergy and you only hear/see them use it during religious ceremonies, mainly during liturgy, that's during the late 1800s and early 1900s there was a huge debate between the more rich and educated Καθαρεύουσα speaking class and the more poor and less educated Δημοτική speaking class which led to the government holding a referendum on the issue with Δημοτική winning and Δημοτική is currently the official language of Greece, so the only modern Καθαρεύουσα text you will find are religious text which does includes poems
@@nickpapadopoulos9978 Interesting, thanks for the info! In regards to the liturgy, is that a universal thing or do some use Δημοτική and others Καθαρεύουσα depending on the area/jurisdiction? I have a Greek Orthodox Church nearby and one man casually mentioned it's "modern Greek" but I don't really have an ear for the distinction yet, and I'm not sure many of them would know the distinction either as many of these folks came over and set these churches up in the timeframe where these two systems were still dueling for supremacy.

Probably 2 or 1
time to make Egypt, Aegyptos
It really irritated me that unlike ck2, there is little trade in ck3. Being middlemen in control of trade routes made the Byzantines rich as fuck while most of Europe didn’t even have stone architecture.

This is the dlc with landless play, right? This is going to be good...
Nope, this one is for the byzantine empire and probably more options to handle big empires and vassels too.
The one you are looking for will be released end of this or begin of the next jear.
"Real strategy requires cunning"
Game proceeds to only offer 3 cunning plots to either murder, abduct (that barely works on rulers) and fabricating hooks (which you can't even use half the time as efficiently). So much for cunning.
If I declare war on the Pope, he spends all his money on mercenaries, I don't show up for the war, and then after 5 years, I declare a new war, isn't that a cunning?
We need to be able to select if we are going to fabricate a major or minor hook and have a correspondingly difficult scheme.
As the number one CK3 meatrider I gotta say this DLC looks good
Time to become Emperor and Autocrat of the Romans!
Bruh, the previous dlc is still broken and they still didn't fix it, now they want to release a new dlc?? Hell nah, I'm gonna stick to waiting and play Romance of three Kingdoms 8 Remake instead of playing this game unless they fix all the broken stuff smh
I imagine that in 2070 we’ll have CK5, a VR game where you are really the ruler and can walk around this world. And the game, even If it still strategy, it has become a true RPG 😂
