2 notes: 1. Tekken does have two iconic girl characters, those being Chloe and Xiaoyu, and I base that on cosplayers and their audience. I've seen cosplayers who admitted to knowing that Tekken is a fighting game and that's all they know about it, but they would cosplay Chloe because she's a cool idol character. Chloe and Xiaoyu may not be popular among the Tekken playerbase because most players just want their edgy murderhobo designs, but for people on the outside, those two are pretty popular. Another fun fact, I've seen cosplay shops who sell Xiaoyu outfits have people actually cosplay her for the ad, but when it came to Kazuya's outfit, they just used an in-game picture. 2. Regarding 50-50s, part of the "core audience" of Tekken loves them to no end, when they're the ones doing the 50-50. You did a -9 move next to Kazuya then he just vortex for the win? "Cool skilled gameplay, he just downloaded you". Anna blocks a low and goes for a 50-50 rather than doing an 11f punisher for the win? (she has nothing between 11f and 18f) "BOOOO cheap gimmicky character". And I think we all know know which part of the community is the loudest when it comes to crying about the "gimmicky" characters.
VF ain't hard. I used to think it was initially, but that was due to me approaching the game with a tekken mindset. The game is all about neutral play (small tekken) and reading your opponent. You can get away with fishing for launchers then hitting your favourite long combo in tekken, but in VF, the combos won't get you nowhere if your neutral play is weak. Once VF starts to click, It's such a beautiful feeling. It will also make you a better tekken player.
I agree wholeheartedly. it's similar to an extent but a much more grounded experience. The game being difficult is from my own experiences learning Akira, which is probably the wrong move lol but I love the character

I genuinely don’t understand people who act like this is one of the most Balanced Tekken games or most fun. To me it’s one of the most broken, Bugged and greedy fighting games I’ve seen it rivals SFV and even SFXTekken levels of laziness someone pointed out again this game has P1 advantage where you can’t side step certain moves if you play on P2 side, it is the only game on Steam who ever deleted reviews(Bandai 1000000% paid Steam to delete reviews), and they re sold us 3 Characters from T7, and now the talk of Skill based inputs where they use AI to automate the game to the lowest of dirt eating people.
Tekken 8 IS one of the most balanced games in the franchise. Tekken 7 was arguably the most balanced, but it took them nearly a decade to get there. TTT2, T6, T5, etc were all FAR more busted than T8. The only reason you disagree is because you’re not playing the older games competitively. If you were, you’d retract your comment SO fast.

Start of season 2 just nerf all safe moves on Clive and decrease the range and tracking on his armor. I want the new moves for every character it spices things up makes the game fresh for awhile and fix the dam battlepass it's just straight up garbage everytime.........
I wonder how they will improve neutral in Season 2. I know that THEY NEED TO GIVE MY BOI VICTOR A KICK PARRY. Why tf does he still not have one? Give everyone a parry. Make parry an important mechanic. Personally I like the Heat, but Jin’s lack of balancing and other things just become bland because of it.
Hood Tekken…. lol the days…. You guys should expound on show frame data has ruined fighting games in general. I’m 40 and I’ve been saying this for years!!!
The balancing of a ton of moves in this game is just terrible. The higher you go up in rank, the more you understand the games mechanic and framdata, the more you will realize that
T8 wasn't made for us, as much as we don't like the direction the series is going, it's the casuals (timmys) who financially carry the game. It's good business for bandai. Expect to see more strange guest characters as that was a key part of T7's success. The tekken series is turning into a 3D smash bros with loads of moves. Tekken content creators need to build communities around older tekken games, similarly to what SF and MvC communities do, complaing yet playing T8 only adds to the problem. I'm enjoying VF at the moment, and when I get that tekken itch, I boot up T7.
As someone who has tried to get their friends into playing Tekken I wouldn't exactly call Tekken 8 "Casual Friendly" , it's more offense and keeping momentum, keep in mind the majority of people who play this game never side step and that is a main defensive mechanic. The game is SO daunting to Tekken noobs let alone fighting game noobs, there is just SO much info to take in. Casuals dont really play online, casuals do couch coop and mash or they did treasure battles in T7, if they want more casuals they should do more gamemodes like tekken force or something new like a roguelike mode since that's such a popular genre nowadays.
I'm not gonna pretend like I know the answer to making the game better but I'm also not gonna ignore the fact that people only romanticize tekken games after they become a previous entry.
I disagree with the comment that Chun-li is more recognizable than any Tekken character. In the modern mainstream, Tekken has surpassed Street Fighter in popularity. The franchise hasn’t released near as many games as SF, yet the sales are higher than SF overall. Tekken 8 is doing much better than SF6 in terms of sales, and the vast majority of sales are from the casual, mainstream audience. Street fighter may have a BIT more clout in the west than Tekken. But globally, Tekken is far more popular. Kazuya is a far more recognizable character globally than Chun-li.
SF6 sold Double Tekken 8 it sold 4 million to T8 2 and Chun Li is more recognizable than Kazyua if this is bait well done but if you serious damn that’s sad.
@ the numbers themselves are better for SF6. But the speed at which they gained said numbers is what I’m referring to. Tekken 8 is pushing 3 million copies sold in 11 months. Street fighter 6 has been out for 18 months, and it just broke 4 million copies. That’s a little over 1 million copies more in 7 months time. Tekken 8 gained traction much faster on release, therefore it appears to be doing better on the overall market. As far as Tekken vs SF as a whole, which is what I’m mainly comparing, Tekken has objectively sold more despite releasing fewer titles. And again, in the west, Chun-li may be more recognizable than kazuya. But globally, the opposite is true. Especially in Eastern Asia. This isn’t bait. This is fact based upon statistics and numbers.
@@The_Buff_Guyit didn’t hit 3 Million what chart are you getting this from oh I got to know. th-cam.com/video/F6Fh5NGXDPw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=nWnSctcNquPEky-a
@ I didn’t say it hit 3 million. I said It’s approaching 3 million. It sold 2 million in less than 2 weeks. It’s been out for 11 months. They haven’t made any reports on updated sales yet, but they’re coming. I’m using deductive reasoning to say it’s approaching 3 million copies sold, if it hasn’t already surpassed that number. You don’t think a game as big as Tekken 8, with all the controversy and mainstream buzz going for it, hasn’t sold close to another million copies since the 2 million was reported? It’s been 10.5 months since that report. If Tekken 7 can sell over a million copies per year with less than half the traffic Tekken 8 is getting, don’t you think it makes sense for T8 to generate similar sales numbers? Have you never taken a course in logic?
@@The_Buff_Guy then why haven’t they reported on it just like SF 6 did? And that’s a lot of cope but hope you have a good new year : th-cam.com/video/vAvcxeXtBz0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6nmX4cPYXWufmsL4
@@crisisjack Several things. 1. Tekken fans love to complain. Every game there's hate for this and that. 2. Tekken fans wanted the series to change. It's been mockingly called "Tekken 5 V2/3/4" since Tekken 5 DR. 3. We didn't have the 1-2 years of arcade testing. Of course S1 was gonna be rough. 4. Tekken 7 was like this too year 1. Zero motivation, massive hate for the mechanics, etc. The cycle is repeating, nothing new. 5. Rage bait echoing over and over. "Waa mixups, waa heat, waa this, waa no hype" when it's the opposite. Take a look at how many EVO entries there were. The obvious things are that yeah, it's successful despite the flaws, yeah there were obvious controversies (and some still persist), but the game is still appealing to a lot of people, including old vets (case in point, I played since T1). You just kinda don't get it, and yeah, this video speaks for itself. And no, not saying T8 is perfect. You guys just need to get over some things that really aren't as bad as you think.
@FieryAnubis i wish I spoke more in-depth of what I actually felt, but we were more or less were comparing it to the success of 7 and how the game was essentially a miracle due to lack of resources, time, etc, and how we could replicate it. I think as Tekken fans, we want to see the game sell 12 million copies again. The understanding during the convo was that the developers are playing a game of hot/cold with both fans and shareholders. I hate to say it, but Tekken's diehard fanbase is not enough to sustain it (TTT2), which is why there's a Microtransaction shop. The main fear is that the lack of change will cause stagnation or that the game veers in a direction so drastic that not even new people will want to stay, hindering sales etc. In my personal view, T8, at its core, is a good, fun, addictive game. But to genuinely sink time into becoming a high-ranking player and compete(my personal perspective)? Hell no. In that regard, T7 rewarded you a lot more. As for the controversy, there's a reason why the steam reviews are in the red. I just hope we see the organic growth T7 brought again and that I'm proven wrong.
Why so many people who don't play anymore still commenting and making videos about this game? I think there are a lot of loud complainers but silent consistent players. Because the complaints and the numbers don't match. The community around me has grown because believe it or not, the Street Fighter 6 players have come over to play Tekken 8. So half the time when I hear people say "Tekken 8 is bad" but they still talking about it longer than they say they even play the game per day, something ain't right.
Because they're burnt out, but still are interested in the game they've played for 5+ years. Thats not ridiculous. Tekken is the only game I play and I can only bear a few matches a week now. I love Tekken, but the new gameplay has killed my joy.
@mosdeaf sorry to hear that. I'm more of the "if I don't like it I don't indulge" type of person. And I'm for SURE not about to waste time complaining about something I DON'T like. I'd much rather talk about and bring attention to the things I DO like. That's why I understand why content creators like PHIDX and MainmanSwe continue to make content about Tekken 8. But channels like this or the others that spend a lot of time talking about it in a "not so positive" manner, whether it's Tekken 8 or SF6 I just don't get. I respect Mike Hollow as well, because even tho he still plays Tekken 8 his enjoyment for the game went down and because of that, his content changed. He's talking about everything BUT Tekken 8 now. Lol. And I understand that.
It's just rage bait. People who don't play games making up nonsense based on either old comments or noob rage salt posts and thinking everyone thinks that way while also not understanding the game or the community. That's what they live for. That's what they do. They don't even like games, they just see a chance to make people mad and get mad at people.
Doesn't help that the shillers like mainman and phidx are 24/7 shilling for this game, I mean they're living a nightmare, idk if it's worth getting paid to play this game 24/7 every day...
But mainman isn’t a shill I mean phiDX is but Themainmanswe has shit talked Clive’s balance and a lot of characters and called them boring like Leo and plus he also came out about the genmaji controversy and asked for balancing changes
i dont understand the "hype in tournaments went down" stuff. i couldnt be bothered watching many matches in t7 bec of how dragged every match was of perma checking into 20 backdashes. t8 is WAY more enjoyable to watch bec there is a constant interaction between the players. also so far tekken 8 averages a higher player count than t7. t8: 8k t7:4-5k
Defense isn't fun to watch when you don't understand it. Mfs weren't mad at defense. We were mad because because Zafina Kuni And 2D characters broke the game. Two characters can back dash out of neutral situations where the rest of the cast couldn't. And two characters can kill you off a 10 frame punish. You hate Defense. That's ok. I did too the first 5 years in Tag 2. The shit grows on you.
The hype didn't go down at all. It's higher than ever even. T8 had more EVO entries than any Tekken ever. These people don't know what they're talking about.
Ultimately balance doesn’t matter as long as the game is fun to play for the majority of is those that spend money on the game i played Tekken 7 more than Tekken 8 so far but I used to play with my friend a lot and he doesn’t have a PS5 or gaming PC the battle pass has been a let down ….locked Tekken 7 stuff and nothing new I would want
I'd say balancing matters a little bit my guy. I'm a bit casual, but trying to learn get a good ranking and understanding Steve in depth. He's good, but there's some stuff I wish he were better at like damage and maybe being a little faster. Even with championships, I never got to see the infamous Leroy TWT that happened when he came out, but it just seemed like a slog to watch a good portion of people playing the same character because he's broken. However I did see it kinda happen with this TWT. Drag was everywhere and I know it's because he was pretty unhinged and they only barely nerfed him. I love T8, it's what officially got me into fighting games. I know the flaws like the monetization. But I just really want this game to come out on top because I've actually stuck to it for a while and even made youtube videos of my progress. I doubt Tekken 8 will die, I just don't want it to die for me.
i feel like sakurai inspired harada to make t8 as it is when you look at smash ult guest characters the game gains more newer players than returning players bc the mechanics are beginner friendly so t8 mission is to be beginner friendly as possible they successfully done that to the point lee chaolan is the only character to have fun with one time i played really well with lee vs drag player and send me a gg and said lee felt complex to play i knew something is wrong when a tekken player is impressed by losing against certain character my point is character complexity doesn't exist in t8 therefore my least played tekken game even lee you can go god without optimizing him a tekken game for babies
I’ve been playing Tekken from first game to the most current. Now you know my stance. That said, I’ve seen and experienced all of the changes from the Tekken 1 to 8. Wiening isn’t going to help. The game has changed and will continue to change. I didn’t like when they added juggling combos. I hated it at first but I adapted. I still love this game because I was able to adapt to the changes and I find them all fun. Get over it, is my medication 💊. You should do the same and quit crying over what you can’t change.
"Bandai Namco never thinks about the player"
Elden Ring.
Blame Tekken Project
FromSoftware
@ Exactly. Two developers under the same publisher, FromSoftware doesn’t do any of this and yet TEKKEN Project does
I agree moonsault everyone just mashes buttons all the time
The balancing of a ton of moves in this game is just terrible. The higher you go up in rank, the more you understand the games mechanic and framdata, the more you will realize that
I agree tekken doesn’t feels like tekken same with mortal kombat its unfortunate
"Someone who doesn't understand explains why he doesn't understand" the video.
What am I not understanding?
@FieryAnubis that's so sad. Smh
Doesn't help that the shillers like mainman and phidx are 24/7 shilling for this game, I mean they're living a nightmare, idk if it's worth getting paid to play this game 24/7 every day...
Liking the game doesn’t make you a shill bro
@@waldenio1they just don't like the game, they're obsessed to the point that Tekken 8 is living in their own head.
But mainman isn’t a shill I mean phiDX is but Themainmanswe has shit talked Clive’s balance and a lot of characters and called them boring like Leo and plus he also came out about the genmaji controversy and asked for balancing changes

Wait wait you said frotnite battle pass is free?, lmfaoooo the same battle pass as t8
i dont understand the "hype in tournaments went down" stuff. i couldnt be bothered watching many matches in t7 bec of how dragged every match was of perma checking into 20 backdashes. t8 is WAY more enjoyable to watch bec there is a constant interaction between the players.
also so far tekken 8 averages a higher player count than t7. t8: 8k t7:4-5k
I wonder of the hype went down or they just think it went down
Defense isn't fun to watch when you don't understand it.
@FieryAnubis gotta stur up fake drama for views somehow
Ultimately balance doesn’t matter as long as the game is fun to play for the majority of is those that spend money on the game
i played Tekken 7 more than Tekken 8 so far but I used to play with my friend a lot and he doesn’t have a PS5 or gaming PC
the battle pass has been a let down ….locked Tekken 7 stuff and nothing new I would want
F the Haters. Tekken 8 is here to stay and it will improve
😂😂😂😂
I’ve been playing Tekken from first game to the most current. Now you know my stance. That said, I’ve seen and experienced all of the changes from the Tekken 1 to 8.
Wiening isn’t going to help. The game has changed and will continue to change. I didn’t like when they added juggling combos. I hated it at first but I adapted.
I still love this game because I was able to adapt to the changes and I find them all fun.
Get over it, is my medication 💊. You should do the same and quit crying over what you can’t change. Or stop playing Tekken all together.😁
“Hey guys don’t criticize anything or have conversations because it doesn’t matter. Just keep button mashing and have fun” - You
@ Exactly!😁
Crying because yoy want the game to be based of how you play
People should leave t8 and return to t7.. I never left t7 for this garbageass t8
8:28 yeah, definitely more of that if possible The only Chun-Li in tekken Nina Williams and Asuka and Lili reina Alisa Some of the other female characters.
