Great sketch! Something that I do with inks that are not water-proof is sketching it after the paint has dried. I go in with pencil, then watercolor, and then pen for the line art!
Nice change of pace! I think using colored ink, even if it's in a subtle shade, really breathes life into drawings and helps build the overall tone/mood of the piece, cheerful, comfortable, gloomy, etc. I actually prefer to use colored ink (usually mid-range to dark blues or sepias, sometimes red) in my drawings. Keep up the good work!
In the video I'm talking about Mattias Adolfsson. He does things that are a bit different from my contents but I like how free and full of imagination his stuff is. 👍
Would be really cool to see an illustration with different colour line for background, characters, foreground. I like the contrast between the magenta and the greenery. I look forward to any teasers/ updates for projects your working on. 👍
The things that I learned from you is, straight line is not the most important things, The most important things is how you make your art have a feeling to tell.
The final result is stunning! I loved that you combined ink combined with the colored pencils! It was also very interesting to see your process. This technique could be a really interesting "exercise" for me to step out of my comfort zone so maybe I'll give it a go and do some sketches combining ink and colored pencils! :D
For drawing i prefere using micron pens number 0.1 i use it allot and for writing i use a similar pen called stylo i dont know if these are the same pens with different names we refill it with a small plastic buttle full of ink similar to a bullet when became empty we put annother one
You're awesome, keep growing and keep drawing. Your content is satisfying, the colors that you use are so beautiful, the music is relaxing and your English is actually good, congrats!.
If you love fountain pens, regular pens, stationery, organizers, planners, etc - Itoya is a religious experience. We spent hours there the first time we visited. Each floor is breathtaking.
It’s a lovely 😊 picture, the tools made me reallly curious I haven’t been in a ink and fountain pen store in years i kinda wanna look into one for color inks 😆 ❤️
Verry nice drawing, i like the pencils texture on paper May be it's interessting to do some water color (just a big shapes) before the inking ? Thanks for sharing with us😉
Hi! If I wanted to study or research more about how to achieve a Japanese drawing style, what TH-cam channel or other resource would you recommend to me?
Pilot custom Heritage 92 Demonstrator . mmhh 🤔 good choice ! What about making a drawing with waterproof black ink and then using Pilot Iroshizuku for the coloring ? But maybe it's kind of the same as using watercolors, I don't how fountain pen inks are suited for coloring...
I recently just dove into the world of fountain pens myself and I'm 6 pens and 12 inks deep so far...and so many dozens more I want. The iroshizuku series is great, I'm not disappointed with any so far - and it's good to see the ina-ho (haven't bought yet) seems to be very close to Noodler's Golden Brown, which is my current favorite when used with a flex nib. Looking forward to spending way too much money at the Tokyo Intl. Pen Show in a couple weeks haha.
Yes, I do a lot of painting and drawing with Kakimori inks. I will be making a video about them soon 👍 but as these are waterproof inks I prefer to use them with the IndiGraph pen and with just my watercolor brushes.
@@mattjabbar yayyy! I’m looking forward to Kakimori inks video. What’s your favorite Iroshizuku ink color? I only got 3 so far, Fuyu-Syogun, Murasaki-Shikibu & Ajisai.
I love it! I bought a Lamy Safary because of you and I'm really enjoying it. I also wanted to ask if your new storefront series's illustrations will be uploaded to Society6 too. I wanted to buy a print but Inprint's shipping is too expensive for me. Thanks!
Pozdrawiam
@@mattjabbar No to podobnie myślałem, zwłaszcza po obejrzeniu chińskich malarzy. To są nieźli spece od szarości i perspektywa powietrzna wychodzi im od razu.. pozdr
You mentioned an artist you like; I believe you said Mateus Adelson? I looked him up but can’t locate him or his work. Is this his correct name? I’d like to see what he does. Thanks for your awesome, amazing videos. I love watching!
Remember they're dye based inks. Convenient and easy to clean, but not really long lasting. Your scans will last, but eventually (probably decades lol) the ink will maybe start to fade.
Cool drawing! I liked the vibrant of the color! Where you cleaning the dip pen before you tested every color? Do you put inside the fountain pen the colors by air pressure only or there are other techniques?
So when were you going to tell us you were featured on NHK's Japanology Plus!?!? My literal two favorite escapes in one episode? SCORE! :'D You're amazing and I cannot wait to watch it! love to have this pen thanks for showing this
Lovely pen, and a nice selection of inks. I am quite fond of the Iroshizuku inks.
Love the colors
I love demonstrator fountain pens! It's so beautiful to have the ink visible like so. Nice choice!
I’m so lucky to see this up close, I’ve been into background art than just people as subjects lately
Yes fountain pens are great. I will be teaching a class on zoom in Feb..
Astonishing.

Nice. I recently bought the sailor 224 ink. It’s so nice, changes colors a lot.
Gorgeous! What nib size did you pick for the pen?

Yes, I sometimes featured them in the video.
I wonder if you’re going to make inks collection video in the future? Is that Kakimori ink beside Iroshizuku inks on the table? Thanks a lot ✨✌️

I want to diversify the stores a little bit so I uploaded the new series only to inprnt, I might upload it also to s6 in the future.
I’m glad you are on joying your LAMY - a great tip: you can really really easily replace nibs on Safari pens so you can buy few nibs and try them out!

Kolorowe tusze raczej kupiłem do pisania ale mam kilka odcieni szarego które działają dobrze jako kolor linii w rysunkach - nie są za mocne.

Hi!
hey sir please can you tell is it good to be a background artist in anime industry of japan and is it easy to get a job in anime studios.
Hi Matt! Have you ever tried a glass pen for your sketches? I think it's something that may interest you. :)
Yes I used one for the Kobe Ink illustrations. I like it overall but the “scraping” of glass on paper is not for me. I prefer fountain pens a lot!
Remember they're dye based inks. Convenient and easy to clean, but not really long lasting. Your scans will last, but eventually (probably decades lol) the ink will maybe start to fade.
Yup. That’s another thing yes.
when are you going to release your procreate 5x brushes? by the way, i love the way you incorporate so many colors!
They are already on my Patreon but I will be putting them on Gumroad soon too.
amazing
Cool drawing! I liked the vibrant of the color!
Where you cleaning the dip pen before you tested every color? Do you put inside the fountain pen the colors by air pressure only or there are other techniques?
Yes I crane the nib :) and to put the ink into the pen you just turn the end of it.
May I know the name of the background music, please?
It’s one of the jazz pieces from epidemic sound made by Hara Noda
