I was at the World Trade Center on 9/11 and this brings back memories. You kind of go into a shock and it's hard to feel raw emotion in the moment. Bodies look like mannequins and it seems surreal. It's only later that everything starts to hit you and the feelings get overwhelming. I stayed overnight on 9/11 to help mostly just bringing water and medicine to the firefighters since there were no survivors. I really feel for these people who were just living their lives and now have to live with a trauma that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. It's devastating.

We are ukrainians and we live in Ukraine. This plane crash is big tragedy for our country. And we want to explain you how such tragedy became possible in Ukraine. Until 1994 our country had nuclear weapons and could protect itself from war with any country. But in 1994 Ukraine voluntarily rejected from its nuclear weapons because our country signed document “The Budapest Memorandums”. By this document Russia, Great Britain and the United States of America guaranteed to respect the existing borders of Ukraine and that none of their weapons will ever be used against Ukraine. In March of 2014 Russia broke “The Budapest Memorandums” and occupied ukrainian territory Crimea. In April of 2014 Russia started war in east part of Ukraine so called Donbas. But now Great Britain and the United States of America don’t perform obligations of “The Budapest Memorandums” and don’t help Ukraine to struggle with Russia sufficiently. In 2012 Europe Union took Nobel Peace Prize. Now Russia started war close to Europe Union borders but strong countries of Europe Union don’t help Ukraine also. This is because they have big business with Russia and they don’t want to breake this business. So in 1994 Ukraine voluntarily rejected from nuclear weapons but now we must to struggle with Russia alone. Imagine the worst part of a plane crash not being that people, parts of people, plane wreckage and baggage landing right on your property....but that it's just stuck there. I like how the Ukrainian Minister of Defense almost immediately called it international terrorism just because of mistaken identity on the Separatist side. But this isn't just about a few hundred civilians from the international community, hundreds have died due to both sides as well and as the woman said, they have been ignored. I hope this conflict ends, like every other conflict in the world. To many people innocent of any crimes have died, some so young that they top haven't even learned to speak. Read the report "DSB MH 17 Crash", it directly contradicts physics, chemistry, Boeing design and reality. Physics is at the heart of aviation! Dynamics is the section whose aerodynamics. And therefore everything must obey the laws of physics. For an aircraft flying at a speed of about 900 KM/H, this means that the initial velocity of its wreckage of flight MH 17 is the same. Another force of enormous importance is gravity. And all the others are less significant. Consequently, the resulting force will be directed forward and towards the ground. And the first fallen wreckage of the aircraft fell TO the point where, according to the Dutch version, the Malaysian Boeing was shot down (DSB MH 17 CRASH pp. 54, 56). And this is impossible, the destruction of the Boeing began earlier and began with the front cargo compartment. And also on these fragments, on the inner surfaces of the fuselage, in reality, there were traces of thermal effects and traces of overpressure. Forgery: Also in the report on page 92 of Table 11, the mass of the 10 fragment is incorrectly indicated, its real mass is 5.5 g and not 6.1 g as indicated in the report. It honestly makes no sense to bring up other conflicts in these kinds of forums. We know this is not the only horrible thing happening in the world, but it is well worth our attention. The fact that horrible things happen other places doesn't make this any less cruel. It is not about body count either, this is an incident representing a conflict that is spiraling out of control.

Vice, this is by far the best reporting I have seen so far on this incident. Talking to real local people that have suffered this terrible tragedy in their back yards (literally). Although it is hard to watch some of the graphic images here, it is really refreshing to see uncensored reporting that portrays the true horror and loss of life in this despicable attack on innocent civilians. Sometimes, no matter how uncomfortable it makes them, people must face up to reality, and censored mainline news channels do not give us that. The people directly involved in the preparation, and final trigger pulling in those surface to air missile death machines, should be punished capitally. THEY should have been the ones picking up those dead bodies, so that they could see the misery and carnage they have caused. It's been said many times, and is something I strongly believe in. Omg it's so obvious who did this, airplane was flying over territories, that were controlled by russian separatists, also they were first near the wreckage. Ukrainian military weren't even close enough to shot down this plane with this innocent people. There is even a video with separatists, that first confirms shooting down this plane (they thought it was ukrainian military plane) to his chief in Russia. Then they calls him again to say that it was civil airplane, and chief said that "It's a war going on now, so it was a spies probably, good job".

I was at the World Trade Center on 9/11 and this brings back memories. You kind of go into a shock and it's hard to feel raw emotion in the moment. Bodies look like mannequins and it seems surreal. It's only later that everything starts to hit you and the feelings get overwhelming. I stayed overnight on 9/11 to help mostly just bringing water and medicine to the firefighters since there were no survivors. I really feel for these people who were just living their lives and now have to live with a trauma that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. It's devastating.

This plane crash is big tragedy for our country. And we want to explain you how such tragedy became possible in Ukraine.
Until 1994 our country had nuclear weapons and could protect itself from war with any country. But in 1994 Ukraine voluntarily rejected from its nuclear weapons because our country signed document “The Budapest Memorandums”. By this document Russia, Great Britain and the United States of America guaranteed to respect the existing borders of Ukraine and that none of their weapons will ever be used against Ukraine.
In March of 2014 Russia broke “The Budapest Memorandums” and occupied ukrainian territory Crimea. In April of 2014 Russia started war in east part of Ukraine so called Donbas.
But now Great Britain and the United States of America don’t perform obligations of “The Budapest Memorandums” and don’t help Ukraine to struggle with Russia sufficiently.
In 2012 Europe Union took Nobel Peace Prize. Now Russia started war close to Europe Union borders but strong countries of Europe Union don’t help Ukraine also. This is because they have big business with Russia and they don’t want to breake this business.
So in 1994 Ukraine voluntarily rejected from nuclear weapons but now we must to struggle with Russia alone. Russia is much bigger country than Ukraine and Russian army is much bigger than Ukrainian army. That’s why now pro-russian rebels and russian soldiers could shot down peaceful Malaysian plane over Ukrainian territory.
On this plane were people from many counties. And this tragedy shows that war with Russia it is not only trouble of Ukraine. Now Russia became threat for whole world.
So USA, EU and all strong countries of the world have to do all possible to stop Russian aggression.

It was a Buk there were phone calls between Separatists and GRU agents during the time they brought it over the border, plus they confirmed that they shot it down it was a Cossack unit that did it about 15 miles away from the crash site

I like how the Ukrainian Minister of Defense almost immediately called it international terrorism just because of mistaken identity on the Separatist side.
But this isn't just about a few hundred civilians from the international community, hundreds have died due to both sides as well and as the woman said, they have been ignored. I hope this conflict ends, like every other conflict in the world.

At last count... There were 55 Commercial Planes that flew the same Route for two weeks prior to this without incident!
Planes fly over war zones all the time. All throughout the Iraq war and Afghanistan war planes flew over it.

It honestly makes no sense to bring up other conflicts in these kinds of forums. We know this is not the only horrible thing happening in the world, but it is well worth our attention. The fact that horrible things happen other places doesn't make this any less cruel. It is not about body count either, this is an incident representing a conflict that is spiraling out of control.

Vice, this is by far the best reporting I have seen so far on this incident. Talking to real local people that have suffered this terrible tragedy in their back yards (literally). Although it is hard to watch some of the graphic images here, it is really refreshing to see uncensored reporting that portrays the true horror and loss of life in this despicable attack on innocent civilians. Sometimes, no matter how uncomfortable it makes them, people must face up to reality, and censored mainline news channels do not give us that.
The people directly involved in the preparation, and final trigger pulling in those surface to air missile death machines, should be punished capitally. THEY should have been the ones picking up those dead bodies, so that they could see the misery and carnage they have caused.

Nope because even in a World War 3 scenario nukes are out of the question as long as the other country you want to nuke has nukes but still it would be a stalemate because Russia is impossible to invade. The U.S. would do no better alone and even if the U.S. had NATO support it would be hard. This is just capturing Russia as it is big and hard to manage. The U.S. on the other hand good luck invading them in any large numbers because of their navy that is the most powerful in the world that would protect the mainland and also if they did get to the U.S. there is the Militia groups and gun owners that would be hard to manage. There are other factors that play into the stalemate but I am done lol.
The urge to leave ones job from a coal mine to help search for bodies of strangers you never knew is incredible to me. The the world is cruel and merciless beyond measure and its these small acts of kindness/compassion that are difficult to fathom as such acts are in stark comparison to the norm. In this case, no one really gains from shooting down a fucking airliner packed with innocent people.
In order to do this kind of thing, you need sophisticated SAM (Surface to Air Missiles). Now before this tragedy, the rebels were thrilled about shooting down 2-3 Ukrainian airforce fighter-bombers, so they have the technology. From where? Russia.
So imo what happened here is the SAM's that Russia gave to the rebels were used by idiots and in essence, accidentally took out a commercial airliner at 30k feet. It has to be an accident because it literally benefits NO ONE.
However, we now know 100% that A. Russia's backing of the rebels lead to this and B. There are some fucking idiots in the separatists.

Omg it's so obvious who did this, airplane was flying over territories, that were controlled by russian separatists, also they were first near the wreckage. Ukrainian military weren't even close enough to shot down this plane with this innocent people. There is even a video with separatists, that first confirms shooting down this plane (they thought it was ukrainian military plane) to his chief in Russia. Then they calls him again to say that it was civil airplane, and chief said that "It's a war going on now, so it was a spies probably, good job".
God this is just painful to watch. How can u even imagine doing this to another human being. May Allah bless their relatives with patience when they watch this clip.

they were probably frozen due to the very sudden and extremely cold weather they were exposed to at 11 kms high (-50-60 degrees, it is said)
I'm assuming most of them died on impact so not seeing blood isn't necessarily a red flag.

I feel so sad for the people living through this stupid and unnecessary war. Much respect to people in Ukraine who are living through this, respect to every person who has expierienced conflict. The Kazakh, Russians and Americans cooperated together with the cleanup that took 15 years. If that doesn't prove that these nations still care, I don't know what else will.

This was a terrible accident on the part of the Russian insurgents, but I hope some good can come from this. I hope this is reason enough for NATO to initiate massive sanctions on Russia's gas sector. There needs to be more consequences for Russia stealing Crimea from Ukraine, otherwise they will keep trying to steal more land like they are trying to do now in eastern Ukraine. If we let them win now, I imagine more "pro Russian rebels" will spontaneously start to appear in eastern Poland and Finland.

Vice's news team has access to the disaster area. Independent research teams are being kept out. Does anyone know what the researchers can do to have access to the area, to be able to do the research that is so crucial to the international community?
The only way this airplane could have been brought down is AA missiles and SAM sites. Something I doubt the rebels have....

The rebels probably got those systems, either taken from the Ukrainian army or supplied by Russia. At least, that's what the news here says.
