Volks biggest mistake was taking the Illa fight only 4 months after a devastating KO loss to Makhachev. Fighters usually take 7-8 months break after a KO loss like that. Makhachev said himself that was a mistake by Volk. Who knows if he would have beat illa if he didn't do that. Idk he'll ever be the same again now though
If he was in the ufc beating stipe in a thrillogy, then jones after, he would be the best heavyweight ever. The oppurtunities and money that would have come with that would be conor mcgregor level. Now he maybe has a couple million more but he would be rich regardless.. I still think its such a stupid decision to leave the ufc to go boxing. Not just financially but carreer wise. But I like Francis, if he is happy with his decision its all good.

Sorry have to disagree with Dana about he would’ve made more money if he stayed with the ufc. He made more fighting fury than he would’ve being in a 5 fight contract with the ufc.. that’s even being on 1million per fight plus bonuses.. dana would never admit it but Francis leaving as active champion to get what he deserved was the right move.
