    The node controller blew my mind, never had thought of this but makes it super easy. Thx for explaining it and great cinematics (always wondering how to build these for station railways including the different catenaries used).

    only feedback is on the audio mix, had to turn it up quite high to hear your voice, and then the music was really loud

    • @kjmci
      @kjmci  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for the feedback! The audio mixing was tough in this episode as the voice over was recorded in multiple different sessions, making it tough to normalise the levels and get the mix right. One thing I’ve decided to focus on next time is doing all of the VO in a single recording session so I can have a tighter control over this. Thanks again!

    how do you get those stations where you don't always get the criss-crossing of the tracks on each end? I thought those were baked in?

    • @kjmci
      @kjmci  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The station is a custom station with an island platform layout, so in this case I'm connecting two individual one-way tracks to each end (rather than the combined single track), so there's no crossover. You can find the collection of stations here: steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=1368830383

      @@kjmci ah, thank you! One thing I wanted to comment on, it would be very cool to see a series from you about the overall pattern and rhythms of how rail is laid out in larger scales. Something similar to this video th-cam.com/video/a_LHJ2YYgFU/w-d-xo.html But this video doesn't answer, what's beyond the rail yard? how do tracks usually arrive at rail yards, which direction do they go, where do they go and why? When do they use single tracks, double tracks, quad tracks or more? Don't know if my comment makes sense, but I think you would be very capable of producing a video that answers this for people. For instance, other youtubers end up with solutions to rail infrastructure problems like rail roundabouts and other wacky solutions (!) which are totally unrealistic - and I think this is because people, myself included, don't understand how they work in real life.

  • @stefanvalentin9157

    The modern way using the new generation of node controller mod doesn’t work properly. When I select a node with node controller mod after connecting the 2 single tracks with the double track, it creates an empty space between the 2. Am I doing something wrong or is it because the mod isn’t design to work like the old one?

    • @kjmci
      @kjmci  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've had a bit of feedback on this but haven't had an opportunity to look into the new node controller mod's functions - but fundamentally, new mod, new features, new interactions with tracks. This video is an explainer on the previous (and still available for download, AFAIK) version.
      I will look to provide an update with the new version once I have time to produce some more footage :)

    • @stefanvalentin9157
      @stefanvalentin9157 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kjmci thank you for your reply! I found out that it’s actually working: after it creates the empty space, you CAN combine them, but not completely; it still remains a little space between the 2 tracks which is kind of annoying
