Awesome video Jason!! No cab, no air conditioning, no GPS!! Just farming as it used to be. Nice to see this still going on with all the technology out there. Thanks BTP!!!💪💪👍👍
We did a lot of row crop farming with our 1256 and in 1994 bought a 5288 and we still use it along with a 5088 and 8 row 30” equipment ! The 1256 will never leave the farm !
The 856 diesel was grandpas and dad’s workhorse for years. Grandpa bought it, but at the first rebuild it got upgraded with 1256 pistons, fuel pump, turbo, and taller 4th gear. My brothers still run that tractor today 130% above stock hp and it’s held up great. What I liked most was the hydraulic clutch was easy for a scrawny 10 year old to push in. The 756 clutch was a workout, but I spent more hours on it with a 4 row 38” spacing cultivator than the 856.
We’ve found an extra pass with the cultivator has reduced our herbicide need n allows the soil to breath. That last pass allows the corn to canopy n shade out weeds. I’ve always felt corn in particular did very well in cultivated soil as to a no till approach. Just me tho. All has a place it’s best matched for
We still have an 856 running strong every year on the baler...it was the first tractor my dad ever bought and I intend on using it one day when I farm...it just keeps on going
Spent a lot of time on 560 "go-digging" with a 2pt 4row. Very hot and dusty. Also had 856 with an aftermarket cab. Very loud! 856 was very reliable and a very hard pulling tractor
My grandpa had a 4 row front mount cultivator on his IH 656 and my uncle had a 4 row rear mount cultivator on his JD 4320. I used to fall asleep in the cab riding with my Dad.
one of the more operator intense jobs. good thing when people did this on most all farms in America they didn't have cell phones yet. On some fields with less than ideal conditions, doing this job it can be hard to even drink some water or put in a chew without taking out more a lot more plants than you wanted. It's still the way to go for me though even not organic. It's cheaper for smaller farms on a tighter budget
We use a 756 to cultivate our garlic fields on a small Western NY farm. We just finished pulling it, so there will be no cultivating again until next year.
Elam Nissley I would be better off finding a three point hitch because I have a Ford cultivator But finding an international cultivator and installing it would be an excessive amount of work for the short time I would use it
I remember doing that with a little c with belly and rear cultivator. Ñever forget the time I fell asleep and dug up about 200 yds. Of beans. Wow the price to pay. Those were the days
friends of mine have an international 756 we use it for planting corn running a hay baler running a brush hog phone hay wagons back to the farm with it
My grandpa use to cultivate with a 4 row with an IH 484 in the late 80s and through the 90s which was great because that meant less hoeing by hand for us grandchildren. Of course that meant he could grow more hay for us to bale 😆 I'd much rather stack bales than hoe though!
To me, this is actually hard to do right and one farming job I never mastered. If I looked forward to see where i was going, I started digging up more plants with the cultivator than I was cultivating and if I looked back I ran over and crushed more plants with the tractor than it was worth. Roundup was my Godsend!!
Ya know I thought that’s how ya did it till I spent the next 2 hrs replanting corn I had plowed out and a major ass chewin I never had to plow corn again that was in 1979 on a ac d 19 man i can still feel it
The tractor could hardly lift the cultivator, the front wheels were coming off the ground when turning around. Sure miss cultivating, we used a JD 3010 and 4020 with front mounted 6 row cultivators.
@@bigtractorpower interesting. I am not a farmer but find the equipment and process fascinating. I always see the sprayers and such and never gave a thought about the organic side. Keep up the great work.
I'd really like to know why there are so few of those older machines with no roll over bar fitted? It's a simple job to retro fit a box iron bar to the frame. Easily save a life if the machine was to roll.
@@tjlqk3 that is a dumb thing to say, like no need for a seatbelt in a car if you know how to drive. As the saying goes shit happens. No offense. I had an open new holland and if any worker drove with the rops down, i would get pissed. Now i am fixing up an early mf135 and it really bugs me that it doesn't have rops. It isn't even mine, i am fixing it up for a friend, if it was mine that would be the first spare part i would get.

How do the know where they are!? Lol!
Couldn't have said it better than you did!
When I think of old school cool, an old International is exactly what I imagine. Awesome video!

I use a 6 row jd cultivater with my ih 1066. I drive in 1 high. 3 to 4 mph. Corn really brightens up after we cultivate. Love this video. Thanks
Classic!!! I love these old International tractors. Had these on our farm.

I wish we could do stuff like this in FS 19
Me to
Or go into the real world and see it yourself
@@gavinhenderson3861 not everyone has the ability to do that

That was awesome seeing a couple classic tractor still working in the field
I like finding the classic. This was extra cool to find the red and green rivals from 50 years ago working side by side.
Love the 856 IH!
I have a 856D, NF. Great tractor.
Cultivating without GPS is a tough job, but old school is the right school😉👍
Another great video👍😁
Pretty cool seeing that old iron still competing in the field. Good video!
Always nice seeing old iron still doing the work.
😁👍👍. 1256 and an 856 in the past week. Hope to find a 1456 to film.
BTP I remembered one of my uncles having a 4020 John Deere tractor. I have seen a IH 856 in the field but has been a few years. Love the channel.
I love it. Thanks for sharing the classics !!
The farm i worked on had a International Cultivator with rolling baskets on a 1950T Oliver
I had two 856 tractors in the late 60's till the mid 80's. great slow speed for planting.
Very cool.
Spent a lot of time on 560 "go-digging" with a 2pt 4row. Very hot and dusty. Also had 856 with an aftermarket cab. Very loud! 856 was very reliable and a very hard pulling tractor
I cultivate with a john deere rm 6 row and a 7610...over 1100 acres at 4 acre/hr. Takes about 6 weeks of nothing but culivating.
I believe my grandpa had the Farmall 656 narrow front to work with the corn picker. I always like the narrow front tractors. Thanks!
I used to run the narrow bonnet Farmalls ,great machines very popular in Australia.
I cultivated with a Case 530 Diesel and loved doing it - probably not these days though. Just look at those rows - they're organically straight.
I love farmall tractors, and appreciate the videos
Been a long time since I've done that on a farm 👍🚜
Love the old tractors. Does anyone here play
Farming Simulator 19? Like if you do.
kasia kos I do. I had for over a year, since I got it for Christmas. Do you like the menu theme?
Been playing since LS/FS 2009...not a typo.
What do you play on?
Carter Bowe I try to. But the darn online payment on PS4
Been playing since FS 15. I play on pc.
Wow that brings back alot of memories when I would ride on the fender of my uncle's 4020 while he would cultivate beans.

That's way better than using chemicals. The old school way
👍👍

I have 3 1456 one is FWD and 1066 1206 and dozens of others you can see them all at Heddings Farm I would love another subscriber
If you can find a decent cultivater for your H . Come help me cultivate corn. Will do more next year, hopefully !
Subscriber 71 . Enjoyed see the 1206 baling.

Great ole tractor 👍👍👍👍👍
Cool old Binder action!
First hey big tractor power love the vids
Thank you for your enthusiasm
the other thing to remember when that tractor came out diesel fuel was 19 cents a gallon
still gets the job done just gotta keep it off the ends
Awesome tractors
I use an IH 656D to do medium tillage and hay production.
nice tractor old
I think the IH..56 Series...was the best looking tractor every maid..followed by the l000 series Ford......
👍👍👍👍
Can’t beat old case ih diesel, run forever eh!! Guys fussy out that way, no one out here in southern Ontario cultivate corn 🌽 like that.
Wonder what kind of yields they are getting in corn and beans being they are organic production acres.
I haven't done that in years
Amazing all that and no GPS guidance. It's a wonder they could grow anything back then
My dad had an 856. I have a mounted cultivators for my Farmall C
Very nice.
You could cultivate and it was like giving the crops a rain shower. I swear the next day you could see a difference.
I remember doing that with a little c with belly and rear cultivator. Ñever forget the time I fell asleep and dug up about 200 yds. Of beans. Wow the price to pay. Those were the days

This was me about 50 years ago.
The 856 is is any where from 52 to 49 years old depending on which year it rolled out of the Farmall Works. It was a great time in farming.

I had a 706 gas!
That’s how we did it “back in the day” ! No cab, no AC, no GPS, just the calibrated eyeball ! 👍
😁👍👍

Please mr big tractor film a 4960 2wd
👏👏👍👍🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🇧🇷🇧🇷
I drive by an 856 that’s rotting away it makes me sad every time I pass by it
It is a shame so many classics end up that way.
The tractor could hardly lift the cultivator, the front wheels were coming off the ground when turning around. Sure miss cultivating, we used a JD 3010 and 4020 with front mounted 6 row cultivators.
Run with watcha' got!
How often would this be done to a field?
Once or twice in the old days with herbicide being used as well. In organics like this 4 times.
@@bigtractorpower interesting. I am not a farmer but find the equipment and process fascinating. I always see the sprayers and such and never gave a thought about the organic side. Keep up the great work.
That's a weeder
Yes, a "cultivator".
organic farming but look at the smoke
Smoke is organic, it's oxidized dinosaurs.

Back then people weren't afraid of life. If we were Still plowing mules I wonder what type of safety devices would be insisted upon. 🤣🤣😅😅
Not needed if you know to operate the tractor.
