Aaah Halle I watched normal people last year when it first came out and I read the book a few months after. I definitely suggest you read the book, even though the show is a pretty well adaption of the book. And I 100% relate about wanting to study in Dublin and fall in love there. In my opinion the story is so real and heartfelt and the actors did an excellent job telling Marianne's and Connell's story! Also sorry for any mistakes on my comment(english is not my first language☺️)
i LOVED normal people it's the only show i finished in one sitting. the pacing of the it is just right--not too slow, not too fast. and i love how they were able to portray the sex scenes realistically. it wasn't too sexual that the only thing you'd remember are their sex scenes bc booooy do they have a lot of those. it really surprised me that i loved this bc i usually prefer overdramatic plots. i dislike shows that portray very realistic scenes because I'm already living through that, there's no need to watch it though the screen. but normal people just works. idk how they were able to make me binge watch the entire season in 2 days, but they did. side note: i know this has been said too many times but i love your voice so much. it's so so calming

I watched Normal People a while ago but I felt the exact same as you do now. I decided, I would go to college and study lit and spend summers in Italy even though I’m dumb and poor and not interested in that life at all. But all in all, it’s a great show (even though the book is better 🤪)
