UPDATE: This video was initially published in October 2021. Coolio passed away 11 months later on September 28, 2022 at the age of 59. He was found dead on the bathroom floor at a friend's house. The cause of death was officially announced as an accidental drug overdose.
An interesting story I heard (not sure if it's true): Coolio is in England performing live on stage. In the middle of the show he throws himself to the crowd. The crowd in whose hands he had hoped to land, instead of catching him mid air, cleared the way and let him land on the floor. It is reported that he was robbed of his chain and watch when he was down there lol. Again, I am not sure how accurate this story is but thanks for the video
So Coolio pulled a bit of a genius move if you will. Got out of the limelight when things really got hectic and is nowadays 'coasting' off the popularity of old Hip Hop artists, which he is and was a part of, just not a predominant part but a part non the less. What I'm getting at is I think it's either something like luck but to truly envision that Hip Hop will live, lives on (today) and probably will live on forever... Takes a visionary I think. At that, a lot of Hip Hop artists are just that. Visionaries in my eyes (think of 90's Hip Hop classics). Sometimes genius, all be it for a little while so to speak.
