    take a 1/16" drill bit and put three holes in that windshield washer plastic fitting and sew (with black upholstery thread-polyester) that fitting to the position you need. If it is not long enough on the rubber tubing, go to a hobby shop or car parts place and get a length of rubber tubing and you may need a nylon connector to add some hose length. Had the same problem with broken fittings on the 5 cylinder Sprinter 8 years ago. Apparently UV light weakens the black plastic.

    Josh, great honest review. I was able to do a 1600 mile road trip here in the Southwest without windshield damage due to your warnings. Cruised mostly at 73 mph. I equipped my 2017 Crew Van 2WD high roof with BF Goodrich All Terrain KO2, so no problems on light snow and gravel (no steep hills). My BF Goodrich all terrains does affect my fuel economy around 1 to 2 mpg. I paid $5K below MSRP, with a 5 year 100K bumper to bumper (includes tranny) and 4.9 % APR.

    Thanks for the honest review. On the fuel Gage, use the trip meeter and you will have a better indicator as you learn what your true range is. I had a car that ran out of gas one time with 1/4 tank of fuel indicated. Never again!

    I use my 2015 2500 Sprinter mostly for camping. There are a few of your comments I have to disagree. I did a lot of driving over bumpy and steep forest roads. I never had any problems. On really bad sections, I park my van and check the road condition ahead. I still have the original Continental all weather tires. My windshield does not rattle, and I never had any issues with stone chips or excessive noise. Radio can be turned on without keys in the ignition, but it will automatically shut off after 30 minutes.

    About offroading, every van I've been driving in the last 10 years was useless as long as it got a standard RWD with open diff. Those things just aren't made for this.
    Other cons? Well, the new Sprinter got most of them covered. Display in front of the driver can be a nice LED screen, windscreen sprayers built into the wipers are spread across their length (but it's an option, standard are hood-mounted ones and should be in this older model as well) and I think there are handles on the A pillars available.
    Anyway, good to know you didn't find any really bad negative sides of it, like reliability issues or something like that. I'm considering buying a Sprinter for work and what's really bothering me is the low quality of various vans on the market, so it's really nice to know it doesn't break down too often.
    But really, those sliding windshield sprayers on your van killed me. I didn't think they were available as an option in this version, I've seen such sprayers on the Daily and they were really good, firmly attached units. Seeing such crap on the Sprinter is really weird, it looks like some cheap aftermarket solution.

    We have a fleet of Sprinter vans and i can offer a lot of advice....first about getting stuck anywhere thats def true with the 2500 series. I good tip here is to down shift into first gear shut off traction control and bring up the RMP's both wheels will spin getting you out of most situations. The 3500 dully is much more of a tank, much better in the snow, gravel, etc. In terms of a hill climber the 3500 is NO HILL CLIMBER I've been climbing hills in Upstate NY with 10 passenger and luggage and was only able to do 45. We have the 3.0 6cly in our fleet. as for the fuel light MB calls that a fuel reserve. When the light comes on you have around 5 glas remaining. Now the rear A/C is amazing from the factory! you can make it a meat locker on the hottest day. The rear heat blows on the floor NOT from the A/C system which is mounted on the roof.

      @StoneyRidgeFarmer  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One piece of advise from the deal was "Absolutely do not do the transmission service any place but the dealer" we've since sold the sprinter...the trans service was due and oil change...Traded after 30k miles and one year of service....only depreciated $1,000....pretty happy with that

      I am laughing so hard :) Only at dealer to service transmission?? Really ?
      You sold your van so you don't care now .
      Dealer charges about $600-700 for transmission service. That's ok. BUT . They only change half of the fluid ( would you do it in your engine ? )
      I buy parts from dealer for about $180 and that's not for 4 quarts like dealer does but for 8 quarts , including torque converter.
      I wouldn't let dealer touch my Sprinter . 300k now , all good

    • @kfstreich4787
      @kfstreich4787 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup, my van looked across the pasture and saw some snow, it got stuck.
      Toss a 5 gallon fuel jug in the back and get brave with that fuel tank, I got tired of 18 gallon fillups, after the empty light* came on at the dead bottom I drove another 50 miles and filled it with 25.5 gallons, 24.5 gallon tank.
      *to clarify, low fuel at 1/4 tank, empty at 0/4
      Fuel light comes on early for minimum miles it seems, in a 3500 cab and chassis with the v6 and a work body mpg is low so 6 gallons @ fuel light is a minimum safe amount, a bit of a small tank for that, but if it is a city only van it could be a couple weeks supply.
      Carry good tire chains, they work in a stuck situation on dirt too!
      It seems the towing weak link may be among other things the trailer hitch design.

      So...long story short...Mrs Stoney Ridge has been drooling over a 4runner for about 3 years...she works hard and deserves nothing but the best...so I went sneaky like and traded the van off to surprise her ....we paid around $30k for the van put 30k miles on it and got $29k on trade....it held its value like a champ!

    I owned a few of them when I was at FedEx. Very comfortable and good mileage. But the maintenance was terrible and they do get stuck anywhere. And in ND anywhere is everywhere. I will say the traction control works great though. On a highway going 75 I started to slide sideways, the traction control kicked in and straightened it out completely. So it saved my life!

      Was it a 2500 or 3500? I'm curious because I've got a 2500 and it spins out like crazy in mud and deeper snow. My 1500 chevy has no problems. I don't think it's a Dodge issue because the f250 I drive at work does the same thing. Seems like the heavier trucks don't do as well off road in bad conditions.

    Hey.
    The rubber seal around the windshield may be a piece of accessories to the US market. Just to annoy you. There are no problems with European models. The fuel filler cap must also be an American option. They do not look like this in Mercedes's home country. Indeed, we are able to screw a real fuel filler cap on and off.
    We use Mercedes Sprinters 315 and 316 for courier service. They run an average of 90,000 mil/year for 4 years. Then they are sold for export to Africa. We comply with all inspections, Mercedes prescribes. However, we change the automatic gearbox oil and filter at every other service and the EGR valve is cleaned for every 125,000miles.
    In Denmark Mercedes has 2 years warranty on the entire vehicle, with an unlimited mileage.
    We are not experiencing any traction problems the winter time. We use good quality winter tires.
    Our european Sprinters are factory limited to a top speed of 101 mph, which in my opinion is more than enough.

I have had a lot automatics experience nearly all my vehicles had automatic n none them but one has gave me trouble. One let go hose which spew out trans fluid n bands in trans were stretched. But others had high mileage n only cost been replacing trans fluid.
